Cars lean the wrong way in turns.

Is this a common sense thread or politeness/respect thread? One can serve the other, but they are different concepts. I'd like to bring both back, more than JT's sexy.

I have, on more than one occasion, elbowed my wife to say "look at that awesome rack." She will generally roll her eyes, look herself and agree, or punch me, depending on her mood.

Sorry. I didn't mean to sound glib. Or like Mr. Spock. It was very late for me and the conversation seemed to be turning into grammar and spelling arguments, taking away from the discussion at hand. I wanted to point out the problem in your supporting argument rather than focus on spelling. I don't necessarily disagree…

Forget spelling and grammar. Your logic is flawed. Google search "nonlethal diseases". First two results: List of Nonlethal Infectious Diseases http://www.livestrong.com/article/139195-list-nonlethal-infectious-diseases/ Non-Deadly Genetic Diseases http://www.livestrong.com/article/74445-nondeadly-genetic-diseases/

I can respect your opinion that addiction is a disorder. In fact, as I stated earlier, I don't really care if you call it a disease, disorder, mental condition, whatever. But I don't agree with your supporting logic. To say X is not Y because X is not on the same level as Y is not really a good argument in this context. I…

"Trapped in well. Please send hlp. Need food, water. It's dark." My reply: "Hang on. There is this funny thread on MFP. I'll call you later."

Being stressed about your life and logging your calories, then blaming the logging of your calories is about as logical as cutting to a 500 calorie diet and drinking pregnant lady p.... what? What's that? You're kidding! Are you serious? Really? And now it's even at Wal-Mart!? Never mind.

If you look long enough, you can find someone or something responsible for anything you disagree with or find displeasing - often with scientific studies to back it up. Links are always good, by the way. Did you mean this article? The 7 Laws of Leanness http://health.yahoo.net/experts/eatthis/7-laws-leanness

And therein lies the biggest contribution to prejudice with addiction and addicts, IMO. The problem with that logic is that you are judging a disease by its treatment and not by its symptoms. Only the general public does that. Very few, if any, scientific, medical or gov organizations will do this. Addiction and diseases…

My wife tried to get me to eat kale for 12 years. That isn't an exaggeration. I am just now coming around. She would hide it in stuff and I would be eating dinner and say... "Is there kale in this?" And she would say "Damn." And we'd laugh. And I'd plot my revenge. This went on for over a decade. She did not give up.…

Those baby giraffes have had it far too easy for far too long. Their time is gonna come. Just you wait.

Right.

Whiner.

Easy to get hung up on semantics. We tend to not like to label things similarly when they appear to be so different (e.g. alcoholism and leprosy are both "diseases"). Lots of research showing addictive behavior can be chemical, genetic. But the behavior looks so much like a "choice" why can't people just stop? There is…

There is strength is owning your past. You don't have to let it rule you. You don't have to let it shame you. But it is part of you. There is a cool book that talks about the idea to "not regret the past, nor wish to shut the door on it" - the idea being that our past can be useful, that we can make different choices, live…

That is cool. Way to go. I bet that was the most fun you've had shopping in a while.

Eat later. Go to bed. Plan your snacks. I am a big night-time snacker. I always try to leave some calories to allow for a small snack at night. If I'm out of calories, I try to go to bed! Surprisingly, the brushing teeth advice actually works for me. My favorite late night snack? Cottage cheese. Especially the full fat…

Great post. Great advice. I needed this. Thanks.

Oh man... I actually went through nearly the exact same scenario with our dog just a few months before seeing Marley & Me. I mean, I knew the ending, knew what happened. But nothing prepared me for experiencing that scene play out so similarly to what I had recently gone through. Seriously. In the vet hospital, saying…

I'm crazy sensitive and a big baby, can cry at almost any kids movie that isn't frenetic or just stupid. Iron Giant, ET and UP are movies that I cherish, but tore me up. Toy Story 3 got me too.

This! This is what I mean when I say "eat with intention."

Perfect response.

This is always the correct answer.

I can quit anytime I want to.

People assume that was me that farted. And it was so totally the dog.

Sorry! Me too! Me too! I was only kidding. I don't wear clown wigs.
-
I usually give my real name, though it probably seems fake because I'm usually crying in a corner with a clown wig on, blubbering through tear- and mascara-soaked spit bubbles.

This is a tough one. You aren't describing arriving at a party and binging (which I combat by never going out to dinner or to a party really hungry). You are describing being at a party (seems you may have been hosting) where you were making healthy choices, then, after the party was over, you fixed a snack. The snack…

That is awesome. Thanks for sharing your story.
