Are you saying Crocs aren't cool?

Since it sounds like you are seeking support in having a diet soda, I say have a diet soda! Or were you hoping to be talked out of it? Don't have that soda! Be sure to follow up and let us know what happens. Also, glad to see you have cut down on the careening. You can get hurt that way.

But then you are labeled "gray." Labels are just words. I understand that prejudice, hatred, discrimination, etc. can be associated with labels. But it's not the labels that are bad. It's the prejudice, hatred, discrimination, etc. Maybe some people feel that labels box you in. It's near impossible to have a discussion…

I suspect he was only trying to compliment you. It may have been insensitive, but not intentionally so. We are guys. We mean well. We don't always talk so goodly.

Your response is a bit contradictory. You must have labels - words - in order to have definitions to contemplate. I wasn't being accusatory or trying to lead you into an answer with my original post. I was curious about your attachment to the words themselves. Your original question is about the definition of straight and…

Does your "friend" feel empowered by one label over another? Is there a sense of identity with one label over another? Ultimately the label is just words, but to your friend, and anyone interacting with your friend, the label may alter perception/judgment. Flip it around. Would calling your friend gay change who your…

Because religious topics are against forum rules, I will assume you are a Star Wars fan and are referring to Lord Vader (he does get demanding, especially in ROTJ).

There are lots of deeper social and psychological reasons to this (fear, security, groupthink, etc.), but it really comes down to this: If I didn't believe my way was better, I'd probably choose the way I thought was better.

1. no 2. no

flaccid vegetables. Mostly psychological, though.

If you aren't a fan of cottage cheese already, fat free might not be the best introduction. Try it. If you like, great. But don't dismiss cottage cheese based on a fat free variety. I have gone as low as 1% cottage cheese, but haven't tried fat free. I like the creamy taste, so usually have 2% or full fat (4%). It's not a…

What I'm getting from this thread is that my government shouldn't exercise fruit control. Fruit doesn't kill. People kill. You can have my mango when you pry it from my cold dead sticky fingers.

I love cottage cheese. Just finished 1/2 cup, plain, straight from the container. A great sweet treat for me is to add a tablespoon of strawberry preserves to cottage cheese. Never tried honey - I will have to try that. I also learned on MFP about cottage cheese in smoothies. It is fantastic. Sounds weird, I know. But it's…

Is your neighbor the type of person who would go to a like-minded group of individuals and talk about you behind your back, sharing unflattering stories about you? Because that would be really bad.

I understand the desire to get it "right" - worrying about exact calorie numbers. But the truth is, unless you are hooked up to monitoring machines in a lab environment, none of the numbers are going to be exact. It's all about narrowing the margin of error, monitoring over time. Every time you enter food into MFP, it is…

Thanks for taking the time to post this, including the references. I am convinced meal frequency has nothing to do with weight loss - that the "danger" of eating right before bed is caused by going over calories, not eating late. And eating small frequent meals often works for some people because THEY ARE EATING SMALL…

Actually, saying "correlation is not causation" is correct. Because, well, they aren't the same things. I think I see what you're getting at, but your examples aren't very good. Weight loss as a result of eating fewer calories than you burn could be argued as causation. Resting heart rate example could go either way,…

Didn't you post awhile back about meeting someone from MFP? You were going to meet someone from MFP and it was discussed in the forum, right? Is this the same woman? I hope not. Because if it is, starting this thread might be a little like indirect stalking. You know, asking the question in a public forum that she also…

Got it. I think it's Starting Strength that talks about a common misperception of getting "parallel" from the tops of the legs, which isn't correct. So saying "parallel" often muddies understanding. I definitely agree - "hip crease below the knees" makes it much easier to understand. Thanks.
-
Will you explain the first part more? "Critical to break the parallel" specifically. Are you saying you need to go past parallel?

I don't want to make sweeping generalizations, but cheetahs *never* wipe off the machines after using them. So selfish!

I am regularly baffled by the online behavior I see on MFP. Not the mean stuff, or the snob stuff or the name calling or the arguing - I see that on every. single. Internet. forum. I've. ever. belonged. to. I am baffled by the ratio of "why are people so mean/rude/snobbish" threads to the amount of…

I prefer to think of them as half clothed. Also, posting down.

You could simply choose to ignore those that hurl personal insults at you. Healthy debate can still happen amidst name-calling and thread derailing. Stay on point, don't get ruffled, ignore the nonsense. Or, post a topic about your grievances in a very general way, alluding to previous posts and casting judgment on others'…

Totally misinterpreted this thread. I thought you were talking about Chipotle, the bully in 6th grade. Man, was he mean. Called us all names and stuff. He would eat at McDonald's too. Definitely beware of him.
