I think a lot of people look at words differently. While there is plenty of hate associated with the "N-word" (and many others), there are some that think you don't need to give so much power to a word. One perspective is that by using a word freely, you take its power away. When talking about words associated with a…

I like this. Good thread title, nice set-up, great story. Congrats on your weight loss.

I will look for the article my wife sent me about this - it talked about that original idea, that each season would be a new family. In the interview I read, the producer (writer?) stated that was the original intention, and even if they did hold to that idea, he pointed out that characters can be part of the show whether…

Which is why this discussion is so important. Policy decisions are being made that can get people kicked off MFP. That's not freaking out, waving my hands, chicken little fear-mongering. That's the reality. Steven and Mike have both said they are working on MFP rules to get rid of bullying. Unfortunately, if you are going…

Don't care about this discussion or the video in the first post. Just needed the thread title. I know what to name my band now. Thank you.

Agreed. Especially during exercise. But contacts are tough with seasonal allergies and can get expensive.
-
I concur as well. But mostly because you concurred for your own post.
-
This is HUGELY important. I hope Mike understands this.

Also of interest: Mike's response in the Bullying group about a new policy of bullying. I have respectfully asked Mike to define bullying. I think it's important to know the rules. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/389878-report-bullying-posts

OK. Thanks. I joined because the topic is important to me. Granted, the reason I find the topic important may be different from the reasons of the other members of that group. I don't like seeing the term "bully" get overused - but I still take actual bullying very seriously. I'm also an advocate for common sense, giving…

Why? Do you think I'm a bully?

Wow. You guys need to weigh in over here: What Is A Bully? | MyFitnessPal.com http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/389776-what-is-a-bully

Itchy? Sometimes we do have a scratch to itch, metaphorically speaking. I can understand where you are coming from. I get this rash sometimes after exercising and it itches like crazy.

I totally blame the Twinkies. Do you see how they dress?

Uncontrollable sobbing because I can't make up my mind what appetizer to order.

I wasn't sure what the 17-day diet was. That's the first thing I noticed in your post. So I looked it up and see that it is a book that gained popularity after being on TV on Dr. Phil. I also noticed that the tagline for the book is "A simple plan that targets both belly fat and visceral fat that produces fast results that…

Raisins. Got it. I just want to know what 'butt hurt' means now. This doesn't have anything to do with the after school special about creepy uncle Larry does it?
-
Agree 100% Both of these scenarios have happened to me. Though my wife didn't hand me any money.

You are already ahead of the game by being open-minded and willing to read and listen. It's easy to get caught up the minute details, but none of this is exact. As far as I know, there are no current MFP members in a lab hooked up to monitors 24/7. (Gordo was hooked up for other reasons). We're all here trying to make…

Absolutely. Quality of life stuff is a big influence on job satisfaction - as important as good health benefits to me. I have been at my current job for over three years. I could probably work somewhere else for more money, but I wouldn't even consider leaving unless it was a HUGE pay increase. I'm happy where I am because…

Gotta have some debating ground rules in a group like this. Using phrases like "it's obvious" or "nobody can deny it" is not going to work if we want to have genuine, thoughtful discourse. But maybe that's the debatable part? Having worked at an emergency shelter for abused and neglected kids removed from their…

1. Enjoy the experience. No matter what it is, look for ways to enjoy it. There is always room to complain. Seek out the fun parts. 2. Be honest with yourself and others. Own the good and bad about you, strive for improvement. Be willing to be vulnerable. 3. Remain teachable. There will always be new ways of looking at…

I really love Constance's character. I think Constance knows Violet and Tate have a connection, and she isn't sure yet how to handle Violet. I think Constance is shrewd and manipulative and a survivor who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. I am not not 100% convinced that Constance didn't know *exactly* how the…

I am guessing Tate's medication is keeping his memories out. But if Tate is a ghost, would meds work on him? Or maybe something way more crazy and out there that we don't know yet. I got the feeling that Tate started to remember in flashback and suppressed the memory. So maybe he just doesn't want to remember?

I love this. I think being healthy is an obligation. I believe when we fully accept this, it makes a world of difference.

My marriage is full of lies. Every single fart in the house comes from one of our dogs.

The short answer: it doesn't matter. The long answer: Make MFP work for you. One of the strengths of this site is the flexibility. Go to Settings > Diary Settings > Meal Names section Here you will get six "slots" that will show up as meal times in your diary. People do all kinds of different stuff here, some people…

Love this. So right. So true. OP - live by this and it will set you free.
