I hear you. And I'm really sorry. Here is my advice. I think it will solve your problems and bring you happiness. It's too complicated to type, so I'm going to mime it.

Similar to calling someone out for being judgmental, telling someone "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" goes against the very nature of the well-meaning quip. The advice, however well-meaning, is elitist admonishing given in the context of an audience. Thumper wasn't on the Internet. I agree that…

I give up. You acted like you have answered a question multiple times, yet in fact, have sidestepped the question, answer different questions, implied I just didn't understand, and are now responding with a question of your own. I am disappointed. Believe it or not, I was genuinely interested in your response. You should…

How much more? At what point is enough evidence enough? Where does "proof" begin? Please don't use the "I've explained it enough, you must not understand" tactic. That just implies I'm dense. You haven't explained what constitutes proof. You cite studies and call out accuracy. I respect that. But you should be held to the…

FYI - you can blur selective bits of a photo in most graphic programs. If you are on Windows, I highly recommend the free/open source Greenshot: http://sourceforge.net/projects/greenshot/ It will let you take a screenshot of anything on your computer and edit that picture before saving it/emailing it/etc.

Also, the socks. Not with sandals.

I only like super sexy minxes. Digits?

Or Beanie Babies. Those are always a big hit.

You are getting dangerously close to semantics gymnastics, like asking what the definition of "is" is. I get it. But I think it's a valid question. You have continually stated that studies don't really "prove" anything, only offer substantiated explanations. And I agree with some of your reasoning. But I'm curious about…

Well played, you.

That isn't answering the question. I've removed all the distracting miles of quotes. Maybe that will help. You seem smart. I'm curious what your definition of proof is. No, I'm curious what your answer to the above question is. And by above question, I mean this: "what in your opinion does prove something as fact?"

Use the shift key. There are studies that show readability is improved greatly when the beginning of sentences are capitalized.

This might be the most useful post (for me) in this thread. Thanks. I'm going to have to try steel cut oats. Never had them before.

A good book. Or my Kindle.

I think this exchange is the distilled, most truthiness form of all of these type of comments that get reported here.

You joined a few months ago and have already lost 15 pounds, so you're doing something right (your profile indicates you are trying to lose weight). How did you lose those 15 pounds? Are you bored with your routine? There are thousands of ways to get healthier - calories in (different foods) to calories out (exercise…

How many calories difference are you talking about?

I see this sentiment a lot. It does sound good, but misses something really important. This is a health and fitness community. I think that statements about health and fitness should be backed up with some evidence. Asking for evidence isn't attacking. It isn't a put down. Heck, it's not even disagreeing. It is simply…

EVERYONE is sweaty in hot yoga. While I probably sweat more than most, a 90-minute session in a 105-degree room will have everyone participating pretty sweaty. There have been occasions where I'm bending over and sweating is literally pouring off me. That is, not dripping, but an actual small, unbroken *stream* of sweat.…

Advice here is good. Bikram Yoga or hot yoga burns about as much as regular yoga (Bikram is simply the formal 26 copyrighted yoga poses of founder Bikram Choudhury - hot yoga can be similar, or even the same, but the teachers and studio haven't been licensed). I think you'll sometimes see inflated calorie burns for hot…

Great feedback here. I agree that it really helps if both people are committed to counseling. It's tough when only one person is into it and/or one person is identified as "the problem." Also, make sure you interview counselors when possible. People fall into this mindset with certain professions (doctors and counselors…

Hey, it was your thread title.

I'm a little disappointed this isn't an Oh My F-ing God What The F**k Barbecue recipe.

I am another fan of Mother's Cereals. All of them are good. But nothing compares to Mother's Peanut Butter Bumpers. Nothing. It is the best cereal ever. Like Cap'n Crunch without as much sugar (not nearly as tooth-achingly sweet) or artificial crap and best of all: no tear-the-roof-of-your-mouth-up hard edges. They are…

Everything I have read about this is in line with what you are saying. Even the links that are posted in this thread say it's not the amount of water, but how fast you drink it. So I don't think there is some magic number of liters that becomes dangerous. It's a matter of slamming your body with lots of water quickly…

Depends... is it TOM?

Agreed. We need something weird and original like someone drinking brackish fishtank water.

Not true. I'm not saying you didn't lose weight. I am saying you did not lose weight solely because you switched what time you consumed your calories. You lost weight because you consumed fewer and/or burned more calories. Plenty of reasons not to eat right before bed (stomach issues, sleep problems, etc.) but that don't…
