@DancesWithWow WTF are you talking about? You do realize that tons of folks plot out their meals in their tracker, like days or weeks in advance, correct? And actually do "Planned Breaks"? But, ****, that totally decimates your "100% of you CICO people are all about hind-sight. Fail!" concept. Sorry about ruining your day.

I appreciate you educating us about how the thing that has literally made every single living creature lose weight since the dawn of time isn't science ... and that we need to understand what actually is. Thank you :-)
-
I believe you were given an answer and it was "Science!". Seriously though ... if you don't believe in the law of thermodynamics, how exactly do you think weight loss occurs? That question is a head scratcher. If caloric deficit is a "myth", how do you believe that weight loss occurs? If weight loss isn't science, then…

Five Guys has, in my opinion, the absolute best fries in the industry. And that's the reason I don't go there any longer. Their fries are my kryptonite. I have no willpower when it comes to them. I get the large and then they dump in that whole extra tray of fries right into the bag and I'm like holy **** that's just 4,000…

Growing up, I only ate breakfast on the weekends when my parents were home from work. Back then, it was usually corn flakes on Saturday and eggs (fried or scrambled) & bacon on Sunday. As an adult, I'm fully of the belief that (for me personally) life isn't worth living without a good breakfast. My typical breakfast is All…

The first 33 lbs took me exactly 12 weeks. Went from 250 to 217. And it's been a pretty even weight loss, usually 1.5 - 2 lbs a week, and randomly a couple 4-5lb losses seemingly out of nowhere. Another 37 lbs to go, which I expect to start coming off much slower as I get thinner. The last time I had a major weight loss,…

It's 100% possible. The 5k program I started with gets you from zero to 5k in 8 weeks and I hit 10k shortly after that. It's about a million times easier to get from 5k to 10k than it is to get from 0k to 5k. However, I echo the advice that you should not worry about a 7 minute kilometer during your first 10k. Keep your…

Congrats!!!! During my first major weight loss, when I hit 198, I literally cried for like half an hour. It was the first time in my adult life that I'd been below 200lbs. Such an emotional step. Feel super proud of yourself!!

Nope, she never had to find me attractive back then at all. But why say that to me? I mean, seriously ... "I sure like ya now, but thank christ you don't look like a ****ing uggo behemoth anymore, amiright??" I'd been fat since I was a small child ... and finally, after 28 years, I was in a place where I was in great…

I think the only thing anyone ever said about my weight when I was fat wa this: I had a female friend once grab my chest and squeeze and say "Jesus, you've got bigger titties than I do. I'm jeaous!!" ... in public, in front of a group of people. I had never been so utterly humiliated in my entire life. But I got over it…

When I was 26ish, I lost 70lbs in about 7 months. I was incredibly motivated to lose the weight and put so much work into it. I kept it off for a few years ... and then gained back every single pound (between the ages of 30-34). I started to put it back on because I went through a really bad break-up with someone I had…

My bad. He was born in Alabama, but grew up on the Bayou in a rural community. And he has personal and family ties to NO. Direct quote from Tatum: "I would like to play Gambit. Gambit's my favourite. I'm from New Orleans, around that area. My dad's from New Orleans, and I like to do a Cajun accent. I could do it for real,"…
-
Besides the hair, how does he not have the look? Channing isn't overly beefy. I'd say if you load up his picture next to drawings of Gambit ... they share the same kind of build.
-
Honestly, I don't get the hate for this casting beyond the "lol, **** channing tatum!". Is he the best actor in the world? God no. But he's gotten progressively better. And besides that, he's actually from NO, so we know he can do the accent justice. And he has the look. I think this is one of those "wait and see" casting…

This is not an excuse even remotely ... but I think a lot of guys don't know *how* to flirt and they literally believe, beyond the shadow of doubt, that making sexually aggressive comments *is* flirting and that women will appreciate the compliments, no matter how wildly inappropriate they are. Now, I'm not a woman so I…

I started getting mine around 30 ... and I've gotten just an absolute ton more in the last 4 years. But I don't mind. I'll joke about it with my wife, but, honestly, I like my gray. I think it's kind of neat looking. Gives my hair a certain kind of flair. I started noticing white in my beard, though, last year. That, I…

Deathlok appeared in '74, Deathstroke appeared in '80. I'm surprised they're being compared, because the characters don't actually share a lot of similarities. Most people, when they compare Deathstroke to anyone, they compare him to Deadpool--because of the Slade Wilson/Wade Wilson thing, they're both mercenaries,…

Do not immediately jump into another relationship because you're lonely or to make yourself feel desirable. I'll never understand that kind of advice. You're in an incredible emotional and vulnerable place right now and the last thing you want to do is bring someone else into that. Take the time to redefine yourself as an…

Feel free to take this with a grain of salt, because I'm a strange man on the internet ... But, wtf is wrong with your family? You look amazing! Seriously. And not in a "We're all beautiful, yeah!" way. You legit look fantastic. That said, please, for the love of all that is holy to you, never take the opinion of someone…

The first time I lost 70lbs, a huge part of it was from constantly walking. I was prepping for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk, which is a 2-Day, 40 Mile Walk (marathon one day, half marathon the 2nd day). And I spent months walking to build up the tolerance for that. I started small and built from there. 3 miles a day to 6…

Hmm. After reading 6 pages, my takeaway from this thread is such: If someone has a problem, and offers a lengthy explanation of said problem, including detailed examples ... the best thing to do is smugly explain to him why he's wrong and how much better we are at eating than he is, and then routinely make comments about…

Holy smokes! Congrats to you! ... And to your husband! ;-D

Great work!! Before and after shots, man, there's nothing like seeing them first thing in the morning to keep you motivated. So thanks for that!
-
The first time I lost the 70lbs, my sole motivation was being able to complete the entire 40-Mile Avon Breast Cancer Walk. It's funny though, once I got thin, a number of women that I'd known for years began seriously coming on to me ... and I remember it making me super mad, rather than proud. I had a very "Screw you,…

This used to happen to me a lot, during my weight loss and after I'd lost 70lbs. I got down to 180 and people would still comment on my choice of food. And it never came off as questions of genuine concern ... it always came off as very cynical and smug, like they had just been waiting for me to fail so they could feel…
-
The first time I lost 70lbs (from 250 to 180), my reasoning was because I wanted to finish the entire 40 miles of the "AVON Breast Cancer Walk". I did it at 250 and was only able to finish about 24 miles. And I remember feeling totally ashamed and emotionally crushed that I wasn't able to finish it. So, I decided I was…

Weekly for me. Otherwise, I obsess over the number ("Wtf?! I only ate 1800 calories yesterday, why the F*** is my weight HIGHER today?!?!?" Guess I'll only eat 1200 today!") and starve myself to make the number go down ... which, really, is just a small leap to full on anorexia. I feel like weighing in weekly gives me a…

Ha! Right there with you. I learned to smoke turkey so that I can lose weight while still eating incredible hickory smoked meat! Got my various types of wood, my wireless remote temperature gages, charcoal chimney, etc ... anyone that thinks smoking meat isn't a total geek endeavor is doing it wrong.
-
My friend, I believe that makes us brothers. Someone's got to smoke the Thanksgiving Turkey, snow or below freezing temperatures be damned!

Cheat days are a beautiful thing. Always remember that. That said, the first time I was on a big weight loss journey (to drop 70 lbs), cheat days used to make me feel so guilty and made me kind of hate myself because I kept thinking "I shouldn't do that, I shouldn't do that!!!" So, I stopped calling them cheat days ...…
