must be my feeble attempt @ humor too- I referring to using the word TON to describe anyone's weight loss. Even the largest person I know does not have 2000 lbs. to lose.

plain ol' white (italian) or sourdough (if available) are, IMO, the best choices when it comes to cal, and sodium. I opt for it over wheat.

Sodium has a greater impact on me than calories- not enough water and too much sodium- no matter whether it's naturally occurring or added to the food I'm ingesting- causes water retention and wrecks havoc on my health so it's worthwhile to track it if health is your goal, not just a numbers on a scale and clothing tag.

Ugh....... I'm 0 positive according to WebMD If you're blood type O ("for old," as in humanity's oldest blood line) your digestive tract retains the memory of ancient times, says D'Adamo, so your metabolism will benefit from lean meats, poultry, and fish. You're advised to restrict grains, breads, and legumes, and to enjoy…

The more you focus on the HEALTH factor, the more people will begin (slowly...and not everyone will EVER catch up) to realize your journey isn't about *vanity* (although seriously....what's *wrong* with that as well?) it's about taking control of your health. However, I'd like to point out something you wrote: Words shot…

I also have a GREAT recipe for RELISH if you're into canning. It's easy and delicious. SWEET ZUCCHINI RELISH 10 c. ground zucchini (about 2 lg. or 4 med.) 4 c. ground onions 5 tbsp. salt 2 red peppers, chopped 2 green peppers, chopped 4 c. vinegar (cider) 2 tbsp. mustard powder 1/2 tsp. turmeric 1 tbsp. celery seed 4 c.…

I love to marinate them (along w/ peppers & onions) in light Italian dressing and saute them in a pan (no oil needed) or on the grill For a sweet dessert, try this instead of apple crisp- it's delicious! Zucchini Crisp- EXCELLENT! 2 c. flour 2 c. granulated sugar 1 1/2 c. butter or oleo ( 3 sticks ), softened 1 tsp. salt…

The flavor sounds great, but if you're leaving the apples in the water, does it get chunky and slimy (as if you'd added applesauce to it?) How often do you drink this? (wondering how long it would keep)

another idea to consider- if you haven't already- is to make yogurt smoothies you can use plain nonfat greek yogurt unsweetened almond milk and sweeten it with your preferred sweetener, and add fresh fruits to it as well and can add protein powder to it as well. Can make them up and take them in reuseable drink boxes as…

Congratulations! You have taken a decade and a half off your face as well- :flowerforyou: SMILE PROUDLY MAMA!

If I'd have continued to wait for the affirmation I thought I NEEDED from my hubby in order to have STARTED this journey- and the drive to KEEP going- I'd STILL be overweight. So, I decided to JUST DO IT- and not say anything about it- not count on him for support. In all honesty, the fact that NOW he brags to other people…

Perhaps someone's already said this....but if he says he doesn't care, then WHY is he asking- and apparently CONTINUING to ASK when you've refused to answer this? I'm with a LOT of other posters- NO, hubby didn't know- and I didn't tell him....because no matter what he *says*, numbers did matter... and later on, AFTER I…

I don't take anyone serious who wears black athletic shoes. It just negates the whole "I'm TOUGH" image for me.

Mmmmmmm I made this not too long ago and it was a HUGE HIT with everyone! Time to make it again!!!!!!!!!!! I keep it LOW sodium too- using No Salt

just out of curiosity, compare what you'd burn if you logged it as low impact aerobic exercise- I came across a website last year (sorry, can't recall which one) that suggested using that to log her videos if you don't have a HRM, so that's how I've logged it... CONGRATS on your journey! Different types of walking…

I've been fortunate, I've found Nickels' 35 cal bread, so I haven't had to give up bread- even make paninis out of it and Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta is 170 cal per 2 oz serving, 40 carbs, 5 g fiber, 6 g protein (which is A LOT of pasta, 1/6 of the package) so I haven't given up pasta either. I've gone to baking from…

I poof-poofed the water idea, but a friend here on MFP challenged me to slowly INcrease my consumption, by adding at little @ a time- ( I aimed for 1 glass a day when I was lucky to drink 1 glass a WEEK).... I bought a 20 oz. water bottle and filled it ( and found drinking it room temp. is easier for me) and eventually…

Peanut butter is a good source of protein- and monounsaturated (GOOD) fat , as well as a good source of fiber, magnesium and potassium. Read/compare labels and opt for the one(s) you can find that are LOWEST in SODIUM and SUGAR. Generally it's the natural ones and/or organic. Note: Reduced fat ones are most often HIGHER in…

Hit the 51 mark this year- and feelin' like I'm in my 30's NOW. Although it's NOT been easy, I love encouraging *older folks* like us that even small changes/baby steps make a HUGE difference. Getting your health back- or at slowing down the aging process- does NOT always HAVE to include workouts @ the gym and nibbling on…

Agree with MOST of this, except for the big business end. I take supplements for other things when I sense my body depleting. If I go out in the sun, I have to apply sunBLOCK- I am not supposed to be exposed to high doses of sun- and because of it, my body doesn't get the natural vit D it needs. My dr. said if people who…

I am a bonafide water convert. When I began this journey in Mar '11, I think I drank 1 glass of water/WEEK (that consisted of a 2 oz drinking cup swallowing meds in the AM) I completely *POOF-POOFED* the idea of water helping one bit. A friend on my journey here challenged me to "UP MINE"- that is, *TRY* to drink @ least…

^^ YEP, that's what I thought it meant- makes the most sense to me. Been there, done that. Doing it differently THIS time.

I have a *playlist* that I keep running to beat the emotional end of this battle: The way to counter bad habits is to do the OPPOSITE If I bite it, I write it. Denial might fool my friends, but it won't fool my body. I'm NOT a dog, I don't need to reward myself w/ treats if I'm *good* and withhold them from myself if I'm…

I'm sorry if others jumped on your case over my original post. Please let me clarify for YOU that I posted this post under the Chit-chat, Fun and Games topic, NOT the SUCCESS STORIES/MOTIVATION BECAUSE I was not putting Paula Deen in the same category as my own friends I've met along the way here on MFP. (Some I also know…

YES, in fact I used an equivalent of 20 oz. - roughly 2 1/4 c.- of BOTH frozen blueberries (1 1/4 c.) - but I thawed, drained and cooked them slightly in the microwave, added my own sweetener (Truvia), and let them set till they create their own syrup AND 1 1/4 c. frozen cherries- prepared the same way. Let cool and then…
