  • I have never noticed water retention, I just get very cranky and famished. First the hunger, then the bad mood. Last month I did not give in to the urge to eat, and actually lost more weight than anticipated. I got even crankier though than usual.
  • I weigh on Mondays, figure that's the heaviest of the week, and so I want to reach my goal weight on a Monday. Lot's of eating out this weekend, so I am prepared for another gain...

  • Pattience, off course you are right. But now that 5 people I know have been diagnosed in the past few months, and only one of them being overweight, one of them being a small child. It just seems very random to me right now.
  • Scales are designed to upset you. At least mine is. You did not eat an extra 3500 kcal, so you did not gain a pound of fat. You're doing fine, keep it up.
  • I don't think his eating habits need improving. He's still eating healthy, isn't he. Perhaps he just grew temporary tired of the carbs. Perhaps you can make him eat just one spoon of them at every meal. Not too insurmountable for him, and at least he ate some. As to breakfast, yes, one of my kids isn't hungry right after…
  • Those are just statistics. Unfortunately, one of the loveliest people I know, a young mam, tall and slender, was told 3 weeks ago that her cancer has returned. And a few months ago, our very sportive neighbour disappeared from our regular street view, running daily, often with her kids accompanying her on their bicycle.…
  • Welcome aboard. Your nickname made me smile, but I would prefer to call you Nikkie though.
  • I actually thought it was normal, as we (or most of us) are eating on a deficit, and our body is fighting that. I don't like to be hungry, and am experimenting with my calorie-budget every day to see how I can keep the hungry feeling away. For example, today, I was going to eat nuts as an afternoon snack, but as they…
  • sugar, always seem to go over, while the rest stays mostly in green
  • TOM? If so, in my experience, there are two options: give in to the cravings (they are temporary), or be very very cranky. Did that last time, lost some additional weight...
  • after a few days, you can use the tomatoes in your cooking: make a pasta sauce, or an omelet. As to the microwave cooking, Tupperware has a microwave omelette maker. A bit of milk, egg, add whatever you want (salmon + brocolli or tomato + cheese, or mushrooms,...) and you have a great omelette in a few minutes. It's great…
  • To me, it's either stuffing my face or being very cranky. Last month I chose the latter, but I was terribly unreasonable to my family. Lost some extra weight though...
  • Even the two very fit owners of the gym I go to, have a standing Friday evening take-out meal from the chip shop. They don't order huge amounts, and limit this to once a week. I am aiming for one day of cheating as well, still working on it though.
  • waw, never thought about my lenses. How much would I weigh without them? To me, post holiday weights don't count, as my body always slips into a different toilet routine...
  • I did it, two years ago, and lost about 20 pounds in 6 weeks, they all returned and more, in about 6 months time. It was harsh, and I could not do it a second time, though I have tried. It consisted of max 11 days, eating nothing but eggs, fish, nuts, lean meats, and 1 dairy product a day, cook only in oil, no sauces. 5 to…
  • My husband wants me to be thinner as well and told me so a couple of times. He is a great husband and father, and I want to give him this as a present, he deserves this. First day in, I was very resentful, but quickly felt better about myself. And I do have my own insecurities about my looks, so I am looking forward to…
  • Hi, I am on my third week of Insanity. Furthest I ever got. (Skipped two days last week though). I am not following the diet this time, just eating healthy for about 90% of the time and logging in to MFP. Too soon to evaluate, but I believe I am on the right track this time. I still need to take extra breaks during the…
  • It isn't a rule, but I hardly eat them either, I just feel more energised without them. Big exception: chips (I am Belgian, it is our signature food) and crisps (I'm an addict). Check out my diary if you like.
  • I have the same, but I just guessed this was because my back muscles are not strong enough (yet). I am just going with the phrase: no pain, no gain.
  • Waw, that's harsh. Off course you know he is being childish, but still these episodes are not doing your self-esteem any good. You are doing just fine. Obviously you are too good of a woman, going shopping at night for him? And you are on a good path to a healthier you: eating your salads, and using your elliptical…
  • I started last week on 1200, and it made me feel hungry throughout the day. I am now the third day on which I have bulked up my breakfast, and lunch, and less kcal for diner. This helps me feeling less hungry. I preplan, and for the last two days, it seemed my diners had more kcal's than my lunches, so I switched them.…
  • Glad I see this now I just had my dinner. Almost bedtime, for sweet dreams !
  • Hi, Would your friend understand and quit commenting if you tell her you can't eat more or unhealthy because you would not fit your wedding dress anymore? you are on a bachelorette weekend after all. I can relate to her though, she's probably thinking she's losing you. I would not take work-out dvd's to NY. You are there…
  • I'm not smart enough to comment on the theory of this, but you were also asking for some recipes. MFP has put me on a 1200 kcal diet, I started last week, and I am working out how not too feel so hungry all the time. I have been doing a lot with tomatoes, they are high in volume and low in kcal. Same for cucumbers and red…
  • my hear also fell out last time I did a low carb/high protein diet. I am following the slow version of that same diet now. Just one all protein-day a week (this week, that's on a Friday), and nog hairloss so far. I don't know whether that helps against the hairloss, but on such type of diet, the manager of the gym tells me…
  • I do not want to do a cleanse with you, but I had a smoothie for breakfast, and it tasted great: - 100 grams of blueberries - seads of 1 pomegrenade - 1/2 banana - juice of 1 orange - juice of 1 apple (I was out, and don't have a juicer anyway, but replaced it with some water) enjoy!
  • Hi, my second week in, and I have the same problem. My solution will be to pre-log everything the night before, guestimate, and adjust at the end of each finished day. Still early on, so still finding out what's ideal for me.
  • I fear to have the same problem, at 158 cm (I think that is 5"2) and a desk job, my maintenance intake is 1650 kcal, and my diet (second week in ) at 1200 kcal. I have been hungry, but for a good reason, and I guess, normal when you are eating on a deficit. I have today experimented with the division of the calories over…
  • ok, I am sure you already thought about this, but are you using the same scales everytime? Maybe that is just broken. And would your goal not better be the outlook of your body, in stead of the weight on the scale? Your body is changing, so that is a good thing, no?
  • Waw, a baked apple sounds delicious, never heard of it, but I must try this
