I think it isn't necessary, but I have a Flex and it does a few things... - It's there like that little reminder. - It vibrates when I hit 10,000 steps, yay! I love that pat on the back. - It's not really that accurate for anything except maybe running and walking. Other activities makes it hard to know. Here is how I use…

Move. The farther the better. His past record is enough that they can't force you to stay. But don't ask first, just go and ask permission afterwards. The longer it takes for him to make a move the better the chances are the courts will just leave it alone. That is, you can prove the kids have it better where you are, with…

My son is vegan so our family has vegan nights and we have to find vegan friendly places where we all can eat. I could be vegan except I just gotta have cheese, eggs, and yogurt! I tell my son, ... you don't give me grief about what I eat, and I won't give you grief about what you eat... it's worked so far. Don't make it a…

There can be side effects for the surgery. My wife has to have iron infusions every 6 months at the cancer institute because of hers. But for your knees sake, good luck.

Easy, jockette... Mine is pretty obvious by the t-shirt.

"A study out of Brown University and University of Tennessee analyzed 178 adults (average age 52) and found those who used a scale every day lost more weight than those who hadn’t." http://www.askmen.com/top_10/fitness/proven-gym-motivation-tips_5.html Personally, if you have an eating condition such as anerexia or…

Good luck, however, I think 40 lbs is a bit ambitious and you'd do much better to aim for 1 to 1.5 lbs a week. Yea, that means 13-20 lbs instead of 40.

I still play WoW too ;), just raid nights right now.

Reminders in the MFP App... (for android, at least), the "upper-left" corner menu has "Reminders" for logging food.

Yea, wanting to snack is hard for me too. I love to grab something around bed time. Instead of throwing those pop tarts into the toaster (OH HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM), I have switched to either pita chips and hummus or low calorie yogurt. I still get my snack, it still tastes good. TJ is also correct that mentally you want…

I'm still here... still treading and still slowly moving toward my own goals. I have been finding resources to make me think more about taking care of myself. Things like... dressing better, better grooming (looks at balding head), etc... all to encourage me to feel and act younger. I know I'm not in the spring of life,…

How cool! Everyone is different for motivation, so not sure what works for me, works for you. #1 for me is group fitness. That is, I go to a class where I greet and get to know others that take the class. Then, even if they aren't asking where I am, I know they will wonder. That little subconscious guilt gets me motivated…

This sounds like an acceptance issue. I know my gut hangs out. I own that. I did that. Sure, it doesn't help that the wife offers me homemade cookies and brownies because she loves me and knows I love them. That's me. So like DanaDark says... once I OWN what I did to myself, I have to OWN my solution. If a workout video…

Hmm... if I were to make one up that seemed plausible... I'd say... MFP is collecting before and after pictures to sell to infomercials claiming their products work. Or... MFP is just like Google they are selling our data metrics to the pharmaceutical companies to show them the average amount of weight loss their pills…

Like me.. has to hold the phone at a distance to see ;)

I think as long as you count them....and you don't want to feel like you missed out on any festivity. However, only if you want them. I definitely will grab a little chocolate, but the rest of it... like peeps or jelly beans I can definitely skip.

I think it depends on you. If you are going to be all self conscious and afraid to work out because you fear people looking at you, then you probably aren't ready yet. However, I personally find that what motivates me is being in a "class" setting. Things like Body Pump or Zumba, etc. where every works together and gets to…

GPS in general can have spurious readings. They depend on triangulating position based on information from numerous satellites in low earth orbit. The number "visible" from your location can vary as well as the number of samplings devices take. They are getting better though. In other words, from time to time, you might…

I hate running as well. I dance instead. But really you are just talking about some form of cardio... doesn't have to be running. I used to really like elliptical machines, but variety helps as well. But no, hating running is not bad.

I don't wanna grow up.

Every day. It teaches me my fluctuation, it allows me to see my trend, and it can even help me see meal impacts. But, I am a data geek.

Good morning guys. First time here... new to MFP.... new to smart phones. Even though I'm a geek, I've been avoiding smartphones because I'm also cheap and hate data plans... I held onto the candybar phone as long as I could. App in hand, I would like to lose 30 lbs in preparation for my daughters' wedding. I have never…

I am not a fan of this surgery either. My wife has had BOTH... count them... BOTH. She had gastric bypass first and then sometime later lap band... I didn't even know you could have both. While both helped, neither helped her get to a reasonable weight. And, now, every 6 months she has to go to a cancer doctor to have iron…
