No news here:grumble: I've been trying to walk a lot and eat tons of pineapple, but nothing's happening. Amy I'm so sorry to hear that your Dad isn't doing better. David Sedaris' analogy is a good one, and I think you're right that it doesn't necessarily have to be an on/off situation. Obviously you can't blow off work,…

Thanks ladies! Yep this is my first. I am definitely hoping he comes sooner rather than later! I've pretty much wrapped up everything I need to do at work and I did all the preparation at home I could think of (thank you shutdown), so now it's just a matter of waiting. Beeps--I hope your gf is feeling better now! I feel…

Well it was back to work for me too, and the end of my good exercise streak. I gave myself credit for my commute (lots of walking to/from the Metro) but I was too busy to do anything else. But I ate pretty well and so far I have abstained from any dessert today. I'm going to try to walk at lunch tomorrow and a few times…

Good morning ladies! I was 212 under my goal for the week, so that's a gold star for me. Still hanging in there with this baby. I did better yesterday on the desserts (just one), so hopefully my sweet tooth is subsiding a bit. I had a pretty good weekend for exercise. I got in a long swim on Friday (and I was pretty proud…

Hi ladies! I haven't been on the computer much since I've been out of work (gov't shutdown) so I've been bad about checking in. I'm still logging, but it's easier to do on my phone or iPad. With all of this free time I've been good about getting in exercise, but I've been noticing that a lot of those extra exercise…

We skipped the live childbirth class because it was pretty pricey, but we got the Laugh and Learn Childbirth class DVD (about $40 on Amazon with shipping, http://www.amazon.com/Laugh-Learn-About-Childbirth-Bayles/dp/B000PLXFSS/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1381311647&sr=1-1&keywords=laugh+and+learn+childbirth) I think…

Hi ladies! I don't have time to respond to everything, just a quick check in. I was under my calories by about 800 calories last week, so I'm giving myself a silver star (my goal is to get as close to my goal as possible, not to go under). I've had lots of time to workout (mostly walking) due to the shutdown. Hope you are…
-
Hi ladies! Well this government shutdown isn't so great for our budget, but it's been nice having lots of time to exercise. It's beautiful out and I get to walk for as long as I'd like! Beeps--happy birthday to your daughter! Choloe--I know, I'm itching to get back to tough workouts! And enjoy taking a break from logging.…
-
Amy—I hope your dad is okay and is feeling better! And glad to hear the scale is being nice! I’m in the same boat with the if they shut down the government tomorrow. I’m already planning my workouts! Beeps—you look amazing! That is definitely good motivation for me to get back to the weights, I’ve been slacking lately. And…

Hi ladies! It's been a busy week, so just a quick check in. Chloe--I'm right there with you on not wanting to eat much except the stuff that's no so good for you. We're in the home stretch at least! Jen--glad you had fun working the Mud Run, and sounds like you have a great plan for finishing out your 30s! Ashley--have fun…

I actually ended up having a pretty good weekend. My friends are big sleepers so I managed to get in a run before they got up on Saturday and I walked after they left on Sunday. The excercise seemed to help my cold a lot, and I'm feeling much better today. We ate out a bunch I almost skipped logging on Saturday, but on…
-
Hi ladies, I'm so behind, but sounds like you all are keeping busy and generally doing pretty well! I've had a cold for the last few days and haven't really been working out. Normally I'd just push through it, and I generally feel better for it, but I haven't had the energy in the morning or evenings and I haven't had the…

Hi ladies! Sorry it's been a busy day. I was 609 over my goal for the week, so I think that's a silver star? I was pretty much on target all week, but then there was a lot of unhealthy eating over the weekend. My family all came in for my baby shower so we went out to eat a bunch, and I didn't make the greatest of choices…

Amy--great article! For strength training, I usually log it as "circuit training." I have no idea how accurate it is (I don't think I burn as many calories as it says I do), but I generally shave off a couple of minutes when I log it to compensate a little bit. And good for you for logging the binge! It's hard to see those…

Hi ladies! Ashley--nice restraint last night! I love having wine while cooking and with pizza.... Jen--nice to see you! Glad you're still able to lift and eat well while so busy! Beeps--glad to hear you're enjoying the nice weather! It's still super hot here tomorrow, but it's supposed to cool off tomorrow. Kelly--great…

Beeps--love that post! It's a great analogy.

Hi ladies! Just a quick check in. I was 37 calories over my goal last week, so I'm taking a pregnancy-modified platinum star (I'm giving myself a platinum for coming within 100 calories, otherwise I get too tempted to go under my calories, which I'm trying not to do). Last week I had a gold star. I'd also love to be able…

Beeps--glad the surgery went okay! ramalem--I just saw this thread and thought of you: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1092162-lifting-and-pregnancy A lot of it is relative to what you're doing now, so like you said it's a good motivation to get your routine down now so you can do more down the road!
-
Ashley--thanks! I've been pretty happy with the with the weight gain during this pregnancy. For weights, I just use dumbells and my kettlebell at home (I generally use my kettlebell as a dumbell or as a barbell). My routine is generally to do bicep curls, triceps extensions, overhead presses, upright rows, kneeling…

I’m in for the star challenge! My goal is the same—net of 13,370 for the week. My “platinum” goal is to be within 100 calories of my target, rather than to be under my target. Amy—glad your dad is doing okay. Beeps—middle school is a tough age, but glad to hear your son had a good first day! And good luck with your…

Between running and the elliptical running is better for building muscle, although neither is as good as straight weighlifting. But you'll build some muscle by running, especially if you do hills and/or speed work, which tend to give your muscles a better workout than running at an even pace.

Hi ladies! I was 261 over my goal for the week. I was pretty close to my goal every day, but then on Saturday night, after I had closed my diary, my husband came home with a piece of chocolate lava cake, and of course I had to eat it while it was warm. It was well worth it, but it did put me over for the week. My two-week…

Thanks Beeps! We're going to have a son.

Once again I’m behind! So just a few quick comments: Welcome new ladies! Ashley—I’ve never done stronglifts, but in general, if you’re not sore afterwards you’re probably not working hard enough, at least not if your goal is to build muscle/strength. Jen—great job making good choices with all that temptation around!…
-
Congrats ramalem--looking forward to details! Beeps--good luck with the surgery! I'm sure it'll be fine, but that's a long time of no exercise. Great plans for the challenge everyone! I don't really have much to add. I was good yesterday (100 calories under my goal, but I'm sure I'll be over by that much another day). I…

Hi ladies! I hope you all had great weekends! I ate out a lot more than usual (two brunches plus a dinner out), but I got in some good workouts. For the challenge, put me down for 13,370. Welcome to the new ladies!

Can I suggest a modified point calculation for those of us who are preggers and need to be maintaining or gaining weight? Maybe something like this? Within 100 calories of your weekly allotted calories = platinum Within 500 calories of your weekly allotted calories = gold Within 1000 calories of your weekly allotted…

Beeps--you look awesome! Posing and lighting can only take you so far, you've worked hard and it's okay to be proud of the results  Abigail--I'm so glad your daughter is healing so well! And nice job getting in some workouts even with your crazy week--it's definitely better than nothing. Ashley--I've had weekends…
-
Abigail--I hope your six year old is okay! Kids tend to bounce back faster than we would, but I'm sure it's still scary. lamb--Have a great time at your wedding and on your honeymoon! Ashley--great job on the .5 pound loss--it's a step in the right direction! Sounds like a good plan on the drinking. Amy--650 cals a day,…

Feel free to add me if you'd like. I guess I'm somewhere between pescatarian and vegan--I don't eat meat, but I do occassionally eat fish, dairy, and eggs consumption. I try to avoid animal products, but it's not always practical (and I still like cheese). My diary is open to my friends. As a warning, I'm currently…
