The scale BF measurements will vary depending on how much water you have in your system. The more you drink, the higher your BF will be. These are good tools to use, but not very accurate from my research. Somewhere I read that it is best to keep a rolling average of the readings and use that as a starting point. But if…

I am new to Keto (today is day 3 under 20g carbs >.<) I never realized just how hard it would be to cut out the carbs. So many of my go-to side dishes and snacks are full of them! I would love to have some friends that are also doing Keto, and would welcome any advice on how to vary my meals.

Hi I am new to Keto (as in starting today) and I really appreciate your post because it helped summarize a lot of what I have been reading... one thing though: Can you explain why I shouldn't subtract fiber? I was researching Keto last night, and they said to use net carbs, which would mean subtracting fiber....

I really believe that you should talk to your sister. You can get a fridge and keep your food in there (not selfish at all since you are not restricting them from putting their food in the other fridge) but that is only a band aid. If you are going to live together then you need to communicate. Your sister might not be…

I find that I feel more confident when my clothes fit better, and that the expense of smaller clothes was worth it. I think metcastillon makes a good point on trading in your old clothes. It can be extra motivation to stay on track if you know you will have to go out and get new ones again should you gain :)

Hello, My name is Jeanne and I am 30 years old. I have a son, who is currently 6 years old, and is very very energetic. I actually joined MFP a long time ago, managed to go from 330 to 290, then got burned out on constantly weighing every single thing. I gained back 20 lbs, and now I am trying again, this time I am trying…

Someone recommended chewing gum to me as a way to keep my mouth chewing without the added calories... I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but maybe that will work for you?

Yes it is the Disney Avengers Half Marathon. And ideally I would have loved more time, but this is something I am doing with my Mom and sisters, my mom is in the same place i am, but my sisters are more fit, one of them runs and trains regularly. They picked the race and I just found out 2 weeks ago which one they chose. I…

You might try getting your metabolism tested. I had mine tested and the test showed that while the average person with my stats should eat about 1700 cals to lose 2lb/week, I should eat between 1550-1650 because of the slower metabolism... Dont know how accurate that is yet (I am just starting out) but maybe it could help…

Thank you, I will check that out. I realize that I am a little late to start training. I am not trying to win or even run the whole way (I will likely end up having to walk a good part of it) but I refuse to believe that I cannot improve my times to about 15 min miles or less. I did a 5K mudrun last month, which I walked…

I understand why you might think that, but I have to start somewhere. Maybe what you are saying is that a Half-marathon training plan is not the thing for me yet, but if not that, then what? (I refuse to believe that you mean I should just give up despite the fact that that is how I first interpreted your message). I am…

I think a lot of people's perceptions of what a healthy weight actually looks like are off... Or maybe its just people I know. I have had a lot of people tell me I was crazy when I said I wanted to lose 150lb. They were shocked when they found out I was over 300lb. They said they thought I was closer to 250 and didnt need…

2lb/week is the max you would want to lose...

Find a place you can go that does not have food. I believe someone said Library... If it is snow that keeps you inside - go build a snowman. It will have the dual function of keeping you away from food (except a carrot maybe but I think that would be good for you to eat) and getting you up and exercising...

Ever made a Gin Bucket? Lemons go great in there.... And Oranges & limes... :) (Edited for spelling.... my fingers arent cooperating today)

If you go onto the phone App - Click "More" - Click "Steps" - Choose A Device Click "Fitbit" I do not know how to do it from the website

That would be a fun workout. I might try it. Thanks all for the advice :)

Sadly while they are soft and squishy, they are grey and blue... but then there is always the imagination

Thanks Zipa for all your help :) even if you dont like my 3lb weights

Thanks! I had found the nerdfitness website (and about 5000000 others) but I had not looked into any of them thoroughly. I will definitely look at them. I tried to look online (google) for this information, but it is very difficult to tell what is real and what is a scheme these days. Thanks for the book recommendation…

you cant see it but I am shaking my head and laughing at your post. Seriously though - thanks. I will look into bodyweight training books... you wouldn't happen to have a favorite or recommendation, would you?

Obviously not. I am just trying to start out slow. Last year when I started trying to lose weight I tried to do everything too fast and I ended up getting overwhelmed, hurting my knee and giving up. I do not want to repeat my mistakes. I do however want to add some kind of weight lifting into my daily routine because all I…

@zipa I dont take much of anything rudely so long as it is meant constructively. Thank you for the thoughts :) As I said - I need to know what to do with whatever size weights I get more than I need to know what size to get. Your point about my weight and what 3lbs adds to it is well taken
