Thanks for the thoughts guys, it's hard but I have found solace in cycling, got an easy 12 miles done this morning. Ceci it's almost as addictive as running :D Taeliesyn, nice to see you run in vest and shorts all year round, an advantage of being in Perth. :) Maggiekat7, I had a cocker spaniel with hip dysplasia, she had…

A further 2 days of not being able to run, it feels as though I have reaggravated the medial knee ligament injury I had a few years ago, might need to go back and see the quack. I managed to go 13 miles on a bike yesterday, intended to be 10, didn't plan well enough so effectively went wrong and took a minor diversion for…

I am so glad that many of you are enjoying your runs and having success. It genuinely cheers me up. At the moment my running sucks. Even my wife said today "You are really grumpy, is that because you are not running?" Well I have gone from running daily to 3 runs in the last 10 days. Had a 45 run yesterday which was ok…

I might start at the opposite end, back off a week from how far you got in theprogramme and either go from there if it was ok, or step back a week if it was difficult. Same approach just starting from the more optimistic end. Good luck with whatever approach you try.
-
And you did it the way it is supposed to be done. Well done you, hope the rest of the programme is as pleasurable, you are on your way to success. Fantastic progress. It won't be long before you bash that 30 min barrier
-
You can. 14 months ago, I could not run for 2 mins, I can now run half marathons in under 2 hours, and run between 30 and 40 miles a week. If you follow the program you will at the end of the programme be able to run for 30 mins, 5k took me about 33mins. How you progress after the intitial C25k programme is up to your, but…

Fantastic, it is great that you are enjoying your running. Good luck on the rest of your journey

Nice running everyone, don't have an internet connection for a few days and it takes 15 mins to catch up with all the news. Quick update, not much running since the middle of last week, Thu/ Fri and Sat missed the planned runs. Sunday went out for a 18 mile long run on the North York Moors, it started in sunshine but after…

It's not the tedium, I actually enjoy contemplating things and enjoying the surroundings when out. I tend to do long runs on new routes. It's the time. They just take so long and at the end I feel drained physically. I am not going fast at least a min/mile slower than my HM pace sometimes 2min/mile slower. The short runs…

@Just_Ceci Be worried when I actually enjoy swimming. I could do triathlons then. More seriously, I need to get some non running CV done to be able to cope with the Ultra. A minimum of 4 hours a week on a bike replacing 2 hours of sitting in a car and 2 hours of easy running, seemed a good compromise. It's not love, just…

It's great to see that some of you are struggling (not the struggling bit) but pushing through. It's not about being fast it is proving to your mind that you can do this. I'd be happier if you were all sailing through this, but these little successes on pushing through will help you do so many other things you never…

Don't be too hard on yourself, a half marathon on a school night, that's a win on it's own in my book. It's nice to see some of the old faces posting again as well as the enthusiasm of the new meat from C25k. If anyone gets a chance I would recommend looking at MM's video link on the HM he did. Well put together and an…

Have faith, go slower if you need to. Thousands have people have gone through this before you. This is your mind bullying your body. Don't let it.
-
Have fun, enjoy the ride/ run, post your successes in the daily thread, you'll get lots of support there. Hope the face and other body parts are ok. Good luck on your journey, you will accomplish great things

@Michael314159 1st post, everything hidden, troll ?

You are right there are good days and bad days. As you do more running you tend to get a lot of average/ so-so days. W6D1 is frequently hard for people just due to the fact that they are so pumped after W5D3 that any run is not going to feel as great. Well done, you will soon graduate with flying colours.

I saw that and thought of this from the late Dr. George Sheehan: "It's very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit." You have put entering a race on a pedestal, there…

Nice bling, well done on the race, just check the blog post, the bling photo does not show.
-
Well done, well inside the predicted range. HMs can take a while to recover from depending on what you are used to and how hard you went at it. Thanks for the update
-
If you put in the time on this programme, you will get to run for 30 minutes at the end (assuming you are doing the time version). Running the programme, means that for almost everyone, doing 30 mins is a mind game. You can all do it, if you trust the programme, don't let your mind double guess what your body can do.

Long run today in the heat 16.5 miles at a slow target pace of 10:20 min/mile. Actual turned out to be 10:35. It was hot, it was a struggle. It was way harder than I expected, it was way harder than I wanted and I have a new found respect for marathoners who compete in the heat. I am now looking forward to the…

@maggiekat7 you need to find something you are comfortable with, so an app works if you understand the rationale behind it. The simple c25k and zenlabs b210k work on the basis you should run at a speed you can still talk with someone (easy pace). For new runners time on feet still gives you a good bang for the buck. Tempo,…
-
Fantastic news, well done you. PMA and this programme works wonders. I hope you enjoy tomorrrows light run after the success of today
-
@maggiekat7 I'm sure what you wrote makes sense to you but to me it's over complicated. zenlabs b210k was just more of C25k running simply and if you are new to running, that will do. The complication of easy runs, steady runs, intervals and tempo pieces comes after some running experience but also with some research about…
-
I used zenlabs, as the b210k used the c25k as a base, the first x weeks were c25k programme. However now I use Matt Fitzgerald 80/20 Running: Run Stronger and Race Faster By Training Slower as a methodology. I programme those into a running watch. Because of road running and UK race rules, I also weaned myself off of…

Well done, I look forward to reading about it too!!

@cazbit well done @Somebody_Loved , wrong mindset, don't hope to post something on Friday, know you are going to post a successful run on here on Friday. You are allowing your mind to bully your body 3 days out. Have fun.
-
Unless you are doing something extreme, it is normally the mind that needs conquering. A year in, I still have to beat my inner demons on runs I should beast without batting an eyelid.Have fun

Ceci, congrats on the time in the "sauna" JSC145, only half mad, it's a half after all. You should be fine, just remember that you should enjoy your first half marathon, so do not pressure yourself. If you think you will need a run/ walk strategy, then I would advise practising it from the start rather than changing…
