Well done for getting out there, someone has to come in last. As MM and you have said, you know what you did wrong, got caught up in the emotion, adrenaline pumped and your body overruled your head and you went for it. Your body ended up with less resources than it should have and your mind took over and got you to the…

Kept laces and literally binned the rest. I do have trainers for loafing about. With wetness here, they were not particularly useful for anything other than running. The second oldest pair are not much better but I used them this morning and whether it is psychological or not, my legs do not feel anywhere near as beaten…

I saw the 3 Strava feeds, well done, the transitions will get easier. Well done

I think I've become a proper runner, I have just binned my first set of shoes, my legs are continually tired after using this particular pair, even doing "easy runs". So I expect they are shot, the uppers have holes in them. Easy run this morning, I can't believe the route I did this morning as a light jaunt was the same…

@KRPolo well done on your C25k graduation and welcome here. Weight loss will come from calorie deficit, so if you want to lose weight, you will need to eat less and/or move more. I spent 20+ years trying to outexercise a poor diet, so recommend making dietary changes as you can do that all the time. High levels of exercise…

@taeliesyn sorry mate we spent so time writing about it on Strava. Nice to see you are mixing it up (skipping), fancy your mates trying to disown you!! :D I have a mental image of you skipping along ala Morecambe and Wise. :s That is going to be so hard to kick today. It's also nice to see some company on the upper limits…

Snow in winter and blazing sun in the summer, way to go on getting out there and getting it done. The weather is definitely not kind to you. Returned to a tempo finish session this morning, slow to get going but good towards the end. Perspired profusely and freely, it was hard work. Having a day off yesterday really helped…

Great news :)

Run for longer, as you spend more time on your feet your speed will increase as your fitness improves further. Keep at it, it took me another 6 weeks, post c25k, to get my 5k under 30 mins, basically the end of bridge to 10k. Good luck on the remainder of your journey.

@romyhorse Thanks. I hope removing/ changing the insoles helps. You deserve a break with your injury so hope that it allows you to keep your "fast" shoes. I am beginning to realise how tolerant my feet are to different shoes as I have never seemed to have had a problem other than trying to move away from heel striking.…

Update from the last few days. Fridays interval session scrapped again, so did a 5 mile easy paced session instead, knowing that I was going to push on a parkrun on Saturday. parkrun on Saturday was great, over the last few runs I have gone off too fast and died in the last mile. Yesterday managed to do negative splits and…

This is so true, 10 months on from this I have done 3HMs but I remember W5D3 and the first true 5km as the 2 defining moments in my running career so far. It is so pleasurable to see how you all are embracing and working through the programme, whether you are graduating or just starting. I talk at work about how scared I…

Go see a medical professional and get checked out. This is clearly a variation to normal and needs properly assessing. Internet forums are not the place to gamble with your health. Good luck and best of health to you

Ceci could you try using stationary bikes at the gym and either the indoor running track or a dreadmill and do intervals on each for an hour at moderate pace 5 mins running, 5 mins cycling. I'm sure like most things the more you do it the more familiar and easier it will become. Hope it gets easier soon. :)

Well done and enjoy your HM

I would not sweat it and if you have done the rest of the programme, I would not worry about it. I have the Humber half on 28 June, I should have done a 14 mile fast finish on Sunday. I was too tired from other activities so did a fast 8 miler instead and am now in taper. One run is not going to kill or make your schedule.…

@taeliesyn that's the time I do get up most days. Good luck with the vV02max test today(?) @Autumnfilly2005, I'm with taeliesyn very little stretching beforehand, static stretching on cold muscles is a recipe for disaster IMHO. I find warming up, moving through the paces is enough for me. 15min miles will get you 46:30, 5k…

Slow down, there is no need to feel like dying, check the ego at the start of the session. It will help you in the end. Too fast will lead to frustration and injury. If you can't have a conversation during the run phase you are going too fast. You need to get your body used to running, slow and steady gets results on this…

C - Only because gyms bore me and I get scared with the maniacs in cars early in the morning if I am on a bike. If I need a break from running, I'll take it and re evaluate the programme.

Couple of runs over the last 2 days, the normal early morning easy run which went as planned, but I missed this mornings run, so went this evening. I now remember why I don't like evening runs, I was lethargic, never got near the required tempo pace. I am going to put it down to one of those runs but perhaps the real issue…

Autumnfilly you should continue to do more and more easy miles. It's still about time on feet regardless of speed. So try mixing up the times you run for some days longer, some shorter. One of the challenges I liked was an out and back on the "flat". So for a 30 minute run do 16 mins out and see how close you can get to…

Didn't realise that I had not popped in here for a week. Oops, running has been going well, largely following the programme, ducked out of Fridays session, didn't get up early enough and really didn't fancy a run in the rain when I got home from work. A very wet weekend but decided I was a runner when I went out in the…

Sorry to read about your loss, 21 years is a great age for a cat. What a great announcement to stop running. Brought a smile to me too. :D Well done and keep going.

Probably not, people complete the 30 minutes and get a variety of distances. Do not stress it, you are doing fine. There are plenty of contributors here who will attest they are slow. Just carry on. We have parkruns in the UK where people run 5k on Saturday mornings. My local parkrun had times from 16mins to 47 mins…

Good luck, but remember to enjoy it, don't treat it as a task, otherwise it will become one.

Everytime I read someone using a dreadmill, a little bit of me dies. Be happy in your running, whatever form it takes.

Sulk ;)

If you really cannot organise yourself to keep the run, rest, run, rest, run, rest, rest routine, I would tend to do a run at the start of your 2 days off and do the other at the end. So early am day 1 and late pm day 2. Just try and get as much rest as you can between the 2. Good luck

Weekly schedule Run, Rest, Run, Rest, Run, Rest, Rest. With regards to the soreness, if it's sore then that is a normal reaction to new exercise, look at DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness). After a few sessions you will not feel it, just rest a day or two before going out again. If it hurts then stop and work out what is…

You should run at a speed you can hold at a conversation at. Do not worry about speed, most people start too fast. It is ok to run slower than you walk. Running and walking are technically different. The key is to complete the programme, is about time on feet. Given your speed you need to make sure you are doing a time…
