A couple observations. 60 kg would be a light weight for a 170cm woman yet you are still talking about deficits. Is all this exercise for a competition, for fun, for weight loss? You seem to be pushing hard physically but it is not clear what your goals are with it. You aren't eating enough, that's why you feel ordinary.…

Are those two low days real? If so they may explain the high days. You might not gain, depending on your weight you may just stay the samr

Thanks, I have a snacking issue and a general eating is out of control issue. I am also vegetarian (not for health reasons) so your strategy might be a bit tricky for me! I was interested to see that you did walking as your exercise, I thought it might have been something more intense. I am very big at the moment and find…

Can I ask what strategies you used?

Its optimal for the animal's life :)

Hi Shay, Good Luck with your journey

They are probably looking green and jealous......

You are not disgusting....don't be so mean to yourself... I don't think you would say that about a friend in a similar situation. Having said that I completely relate to what you are saying and the problems with depression and anxiety. Maybe try to change one little thing each week rather than trying to change everything…

I am not sure anyone says it is easy, just that it is simple. I do think that people who don't have a dysfunctional emotional relationship with food might find it a little more straight forward than those who don't. As for the OP, I think that focusing on how terrible things will be...sometime in the future...when you have…

Running without my phone is the appeal of the series 2. I have a fitbit and love it and I uses a polar ft4 for running. I would get the fitbit surge but I think it is not a very attractive looking thing. Two things holding me back on the apple watch, I think it's a want rather than a need and they are quite a few dollars.

I tried Yaz and Yazmin, they were supposed to be the best for PCOS and was meant to moderate my PMS. Turned me in to a crazy woman. Anxious, teary and highly emotional and depressed. As I tend to eat when feeling this way, that in turn led to weight gain but my most serious concern was my mental state. Stopped taking them…

Don't give up, I am an example of a cautionary tale. I got within 5 kg of my goal weight after losing 24kg and I tried and tried and tried but my weight stayed the same. I reached a point where I was thinking, what the hell is the point. And little by little I gave up and let bad habits in and here I am now, gained all…

Same issue here, along with jeans that only just do up around the waist but hang off my butt. Only solution is to get to a normal body fat %. All the core etc exercises in the world won't help with how it looks until the fat is gone. For me that doesn't really start happening until I get down to losing the last few kgs…

I came to say that too, nobody in Australia drinks it!

Really common running issue. This lady Beth writes an entertaining blog and the subject often comes up http://www.shutupandrun.net/2012/05/how-to-not-crap-yourself-on-run.html Be warned if you don't like the words fart, shart or poop you probably won't find her blogs amusing but she does include some practical tips to try.

Are you sure you are not just fighting your natural body shape or being overly critical of your body? I had a friend who wasted many hours trying to exercise and diet away her butt/hips. She was a pear shape and a small person, what she perceived to be her "fat butt" was really a limitation of her skeleton and muscle…

My main fitness activity of choice is running. I find that the main thing that changes when I go from just a bit overweight to very overweight in terms of my fitness is that I start to get injuries and strains, the heavier I get.

If your doctor recommends surgery, don't delay it in the hope of a 'natural' resolution. I have worked in ICU for 20 years and have seen people go through horrendous pain and suffering due to stones that obstruct bile ducts and cause peritonitis and/or pancreatitis and sepsis leading to multiple organ failure. As mentioned…

I take it there was no need for firefighters?

It's perfectly plausible to be active and overweight, all you have to do is eat more calories than you burn or eat the calories to maintain. As you have found, adjusting your calories in is a very effective way to lose weight. Congratulations. Hard to say re your fitbit accuracy. If you added up all your calories in and…

You look happy and about 20 years younger. Very inspiring.

If one of your big goals is to lower your blood pressure and get off the meds you might want to have a think about how much sodium you are consuming. The more sodium you have, the more water you retain in your blood stream as your kidneys try to maintain a normal sodium concentration. The higher the volume of blood you…

I have seen size 4 here (Australia) in fancy fashion shops and in stores that cater for petite (not just short) people. I always hold them up in amazement that an adult's bone structure could be so small but some people are. I think I could probably be that size if I was literally just my skeleton without muscles or skin!

Say you cook 400g of dry pasta. Get the calories for 400g of pasta. Then divide your cooked pasta up into portions. If you divided into 4 portions, divide the calories by 4. If you divide into 2 portions, divide total calories by 2 and so on. Otherwise if you can be bothered you could cook your serving of pasta separately.

[quote\] Are you kidding? If you're using food for comfort, that's a HUGE problem IMO. I've never been technically overweight, I don't have an eating disorder, and I use food as fuel, not comfort and not as a way to love myself. I don't have emotions about it, generally speaking. If I overeat at a party or something I say…

Before reading this thread I never knew that people cooked rice this way..... Learn something new every day!

I was heartbroken when I weighed out things like nuts and trail mix, a 'serving' is so tiny and sooooo many calories!

Someone will probably ask you to open your food diary so that they can have a look at your logging in case their is an issue there. I just wanted to comment that it is very common for people to think that training for a half or full marathon will help them lose weight when the usual thing is that people typically maintain…

You look so fit. Its like its a photo of you and a photo of your grandfather. Great effort

OP - sounds like you are making positive changes, I just wanted to say well done. There are lots of people on here with hobby horses, you just have to wade through it and find what works best for you. How you stick to your calorie goals is entirely up to you, everyone is different and the concept of "healthy" is different…
