  • I got up early. It was 28 degrees out. I didn't have time to run. I RAN. 2 miles straight. In a row. All at once. I got to see the sun shine on my face for the 1.5 minutes it was peeking between the clouds. Life is good.
  • Today. Today I overcame! I was doing C25K on the treadmill until 2 weeks ago when the weather finally broke. Outside running is so much different than inside running! So even though I was on week 7 on the treadmill, I just went out to see what I could do. It sorta set me back to week 5; I ran too fast, I had hills....…
  • Yay! I was just going to say that this day is ALL MENTAL. You can do it if you try! And LOOOOOKKK at you! You did it! Nice job!
  • Maybe find a substitute of something that seems indulgent? Early on, and even now during rough patches... I consume pea pods and apples like there is no tomorrow. It takes a ton of pea pods to get to 100 calories, and they are a bit of a treat as I love them SO MUCH (really, I think they are filled with crack). Apples…
  • I'm jealous! I missed the chance to get up there last year. This year there is also no way I'll get up there for this much shorter ice cave window. I'm glad you got this opportunity! They look amazing!
  • Yes to all of the above! And, be patient with yourself! That is a HARD workout and every time you do it you'll be better! Be proud of every time you try!!! You'll get there!
  • I was just very easy on myself. She would do 30 seconds of a move... I would work hard to do a few with perfect form but slow. I let myself rest. I was proud of sweat. And each time I tried I could do more. You can do this!
  • Hip Hip Hooray! I did the 20 minute run from week 5 today! AND I ran an extra minute, just to really nail it. AND I have a cold. AND it is something like zero degrees outside so it was in my basement on the treadmill. Yay!
  • You may just want to work on one macro at a time until you get it figured out. Protein in my hardest macro; I meet my goal about half the time. I don't LOVE meat. But I've learned how to keep the other two in check!
  • Were there multiple entries? Someone may have added their version of Old Fashioned Oats to the database (like maybe they add... butter, milk, something?). Just re-enter and select the one that matches what you actually ate.
  • Just started week 3 tonight! On the treadmill. In Wisconsin! I'd love to be friends with others in the same portion of C25K! At first I was nervous at the jump in minutes... but I save the best TV on the DVR for the time I spend on the treadmill!! It really helped to distract me from that time! I can't WAIT for a spring…
  • It was ok to start with (last spring), but then I wanted more calorie burn. Luckily, the weather became nice and I started walking, then jogging. Then I got my first real bike in 20 years and loved it! Winter again and now I have a used treadmill and the bike. I go until tired on the treadmill and then do a bit on the…
  • I set out a big list of rewards initially; clothes, date nights, etc... for the 10 pound mile markers. I set up the 5 pound markers as I approach them for what seems appropriate. I just hit 70# - 3 hours alone in my sewing room. The 75# reward? Running socks. Really? Me? Yes. Me. Running socks.

  • Wow. Just wanted to say thanks for a different reason. I've also gone from a 24 to a 14/16 in the past year. When I looked at one of your comparison shots, I was thinking, "WOW! Someday I'm going to look that good!" And then I scrolled down to the jeans shot. What? We started and are currently at the same spot (size-wise)?…
  • It looks like a rug burn? Alter your form? Add a yoga mat (or two - or fold it up to add cushioning)? I had saccrum issues (the bone your tailbone is attached to) when I first started doing crunches and this helped me get over the hump (hahaha), until my body got out of its funk! Now I'm good... and I should be doing…
  • While you cannot control the menus, you can control the portion size. PLUS, if you do keep track of the calories (even with estimates), you'll be in a better position in a few months when you are on your own! Remember, that if you have a more calorie-dense meal, you can exercise to use up some of those calories! Good luck!
  • I agree with dianethegeek. I try and plan snacks into my calorie allowance; they help keep me going. I drink a lot of water; which I never used to believe made a difference, but it really does! When I am really hungry and have no calories left, I drink a 10-calorie gingerale or rootbeer (otherwise I NEVER drink soda); this…
  • Just decided to start working toward a 5K a week and a half ago; Today I did W2D2. Outside. In Wisconsin. On a country road with traffic and no shoulder!
  • Collarbones... they don't lie! And you probably feel the difference! Screw the scale, you are doing great!
  • Thanks so much for sharing. I'm at that 70 pound slump and trying to get past the mind games I've started playing and push on! Thanks for adding a bit of ooomph behind the thought that I can do this! Best of luck in your continued work ahead and thanks for sharing!
  • So with you! The first time I tried to run I went to the back of an empty storage facility and ran around one of the buildings (ok, not all the way around the building, I was in BAD shape!). Ok, the first 3 months I tried running that is what I did. Now I'm to the point where I don't care, and I'm stronger so I can…
  • Because of hormones, salt or you gotta go #2. When you feel like giving up, you have to push on.... it WILL come off.
  • So many of these are familiar to me. The one that is sticking out in my brain is that the pockets in size 14 pants are way smaller than those in size 24 pants. I used to be able to carry my whole purse in my pockets... now my phone hardly fits!
  • Tanning will not help. UV rays destroy the elastic fibers in your skin, so it will be bronze, but it will be saggier!

  • Has found her noobs and is no longer accepting new applicants. :) --- I can mentor one or two people! I have been overweight my whole life. Something clicked last March and I started investing in myself! I began at MFP April 2014 and set myself up to eat 1800 calories a day. Over the summer I began walking, then jogging (a…
  • You look great! Nice work!
  • You become your own best friend. No one knows better than you what your goals, strengths, weaknesses and triggers are. You treat yourself better than anyone else has every treated you. Like treat your heart and muscle cells better than anyone else ever has. Don't spoil yourself with sugar, whatever... And be gentle with…
  • Thanks for the inspiration tonight!
  • Don't you look cute in your little white jacket! Nice work, lady! Keep up the good work! I love that your son's friends are bugging their parents! Awesome!!
  • Wow! 30 pounds! Good for you! I bet you feel great! I bet those old too-big pants are the best trophy ever!!! Fill your life with people (real world or on MFP) that fill you up, not tear you down! (Friend me if you want, I am sane and supportive!) Think about how much easier life is without those extra 30 pounds! Great…
