Agree with calorie density comments. If I am cooking and take a tiny taste for seasoning, that bite is free. Also, it depends what I do that day. The other day on vacation I did 17,000 steps (and didn't count them as exercise). I didn't log the 2 french fries I stole from my kid, I figured I had earned them somewhere in…

Your middle school should have a locker room, right? Our middle school men play basketball every Thursday morning at 6am then shower and teach. Your admin should be very supportive of you; you are a great example to the kids! Best of luck to you! And thanks for teaching middle school; I am a HS teacher, and wouldn't trade…

Thanks for sharing! I really admire your courage and honesty. Congratulations on all of your work and results! Every experience has made you who you are, do not regret your 20s and 30s. In fact, I have a trusted friend who tells me that her 40s have by far been her best decade!

100 g serving strategy: This is gold! Thanks for sharing!

Of course I have rewards!!!! I am saving big rewards for major milestones: Teeth whitening (I've wanted this for sooo long!), a new bike (badly needed!), etc.. But every 5 pounds, I totally do rewards; mostly clothes (also very badly needed!), or a date night with hubs, etc... I don't feel like I am being immature, more…

I have fresh wild black raspberries in the fridge. You know, the kind that makes ice cream sing????? Yum. But. Today I didn't get my walk in and we went out for fish fry (mine was broiled, thank you)... so... I am waiting. Until tomorrow, when come hell or high water, I am having berries and ice cream. Maybe for breakfast.

Still room? i'll take any house with room!

The crack of the vegetable kingdom: sugar snap peas!

Well, I was going to say fruit... My nightly ritual is a BIG glass of ice water. Or two... Sometimes if I am craving sweet I drink some Crystal Light Lemonade, but not too much.... I don't try to fill up with too much fake stuff!

Fitness Blender on Youtube? A hub/wife team that have a large variety of free workouts! Also, Jillian Michaels... 30 day shred... dripping with sweat at the end, so I know I did some real work!

Donate it. If you aren't going to eat it, someone else will. But, food pantries are plagued with foods loaded with salt and sugar. Balance your donation with foods that are also more healthy. Low income families deserve health too.

My husband and I both grew up on farms (read: must eat meat, and taters, and milk -- well, him anyway!). I have found success with variety. We eat beef, pork, chicken, fish, eggs. Occasionally, I can sneak in a meatless meal. I have slowly been trying to move the heavier meats to meat-as-seasoning rather than meat as meat.…

I built in a lot of support. Initially, I had only MFP in my court. They were great supporters, but I knew I could bail at any moment and they wouldn't be able to hold me accountable. So, I found 2 real-world friends. My very best and oldest friends. I asked them to be my buddy... and one has really come along for the…

I logged 30 day shred as circuit training, so you could go to the database and see how 27 minutes compares to your elliptical workout?

You can do it! Make yourself a priority!

We have similar issues b/c we have a huge garden. When food it at it's freshest, we eat it raw. When it starts to lose that freshness, we start cooking: Onions, celery, carrots - good in soups or chicken stock, or crockpot roast beef, if you're into the down home. Tomato, zucchini, etc... - I make a huge batch of…

Congratulations! You've landed in a good spot! People here are like gold! Man did I hate exercise. What is the point of walking if you are going nowhere (except a big, non-picturesque circle back to my house)? But I started doing it while listening to an audiobook. This helped because I wasn't so bored. Once I downloaded…

You can do it! Treat it like a big experiment. Try your initial settings for a few weeks, tweek what isn't working. Build a good group of level-headed friends who can give you support! (you can add me if you'd like) The hardest thing in my experience??? Patience. (which is probably the most important thing you need!)
-
Also, surround yourself with helpful, supportive people in your real life, not just here. You will need someone who knows and loves you to be supportive when you have had a bad day! They don't need to be diet buddies, just people who help you be your best! Be good to yourself and good luck, my dear!

I am a clothes horse. After being the same size for 10+ years, I had a closet full of everything a professional might possibly need. At the end of this school year (I'm a teacher), I had shrunk out of most of my professional wardrobe. No worries, it's summer and I can get by with just a few casual outfits and workout…

WIth you sister! At 25 pounds down all my clothes were, well clownish on me. I had good luck at Kohls clearnance section, coupled with coupons etc... Then, I was down 30 pounds. Oh. My. Gosh. BRAs. This was such a bigger issue than clothes. And more expensive. And the way sizing works I lost 3 inches around the bust, 4…

Do you think you might have built muscle as you lost fat? That would explain the jeans, the energy levels, and the stinking scale, right?

Way to go! And thanks so much for sharing. I was having such a crappy day mentally and your post totally brights my outlook. Thanks for putting me in my place!

You could probably just go down the freezer aisle and try a few new prepackaged meals. Sorta like an experiment? But, maybe you could also get some fresh fruit/veggies? if you know you get the munchies, have some watermelon or carrots and hummus on hand in the front of your fridge. Then you can have a balance of processed…

Watermelon! Snap peas - They are like crack, and I can never eat 100 calories worth of them! There are these skinny breadsticks in the fancy breadstick section of the grocery store: Alessi Grissini Torinesi. They come in a box with 5 packages inside. They take a while to eat, are very crunchy, and look all fancy b/c they…

Drink a lot of water. Your body will be able to excrete some salt with the extra water. This won't cure everything, but it may help!
-
You can do this! Build a good network of friends here. Search out those whose profiles resonate with you or who make helpful comments in the message boards (stay away from negative or ... umm... anyone who is not rational.... ) To begin with, I had good luck with logging every single bite. No cheating. Then I decided I…

Yes! With something like 50 calories to spare! Thankfully we spent 1.5 hours in the pool and I just tread water forever b/c I knew that was the only exercise I would get! And... I got to drink a beer and have grilled pizza without guilt!

First off, good work! Second: Read all the links from HeartsOnFire. They are genius. Third: Whenever I stagnate, I tell myself that I am gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time. It sounds like you have non-scale data that makes that true! Don't just look at the number of pounds as indicators of success! Also, take…

Agree with earlier posters... but more importantly: WHAT A CUTE BABY! Good work mom! By the way, I loved breastfeeding (ok, I hated doing it, but I loved that it was like that baby was sucking fat right out of me!)!
