Just a quick check-in before I go out (spontaneous date-night): I did a fitnessblender workout today for the first time in quite a while and while I picked a non-HIIT or -cardio one, I did do the few jumping movements in it. Felt fine doing it and we'll see how my ankle does tomorrow. Hope you're all having a great day!

Thanks, Sara! I know it's quite a bit so take all the time you need. I've just wanted to write again as well. Since my knees don't hurt anymore now I tried the different quad movements listed under dumbbells here (http://www.exrx.net/Lists/ExList/ThighWt.html#anchor172012), including different squat variations. I don't…

Hey everyone! Thanks, jugar. And sounds like you got a good routine, let us know how you progress with it. Laura, hope your walk loosened up your calves so they weren't bothering you for your trainer session. And going back to the flour again: Would you make a difference between white flour (all purpose flour then for you,…

Great job, Laura! Maybe the rest day yesterday also paid off. Maureen, also good job on upping your mileage. Hope your class is more strength-based today. Jugar, nice that you seem to have found a good new routine! I'm also curious about how that works with online-based personal training? And thanks for the cooking advice…

I've been feeling sick since yesterday.... Not sure what but the only thing I can come up with is that I'll be getting my periods very soon. Wanted to check in quickly anyway though. I did get my workout done in the morning and am definitely happier with TDEE at the moment. I also have some baking/cooking related questions…

If you can make smooth (i.e. lump-free) applesauce, I would definitely try that instead of pureeing strawberries. I regularly use raw cane sugar for baking and even if you don't like the taste, I don't think you'll be able to really taste 1/4 of a cup. What's really important for getting the muffin texture is that you,…

A relative of mine has the same problem and is now doing physiotherapy. I don't know what exercises/stretches exactly they showed her but it definitely helps. Good luck to your mum! And on topic: OUCH! Especially stilettos and/or with weights, that's a horrible idea. Sturdy heels and no weights - well, maybe not so much…

The two finger rule mainly applies to regular bras - I guess if a sports bra is tighter than that, it doesn't hurt as long as it actually doesn't hurt ;) And I absolutely second the suggestion to jump up and down and just generally move (bend over, shake your upper body). I always do that when I buy even regular bras. I…

First some general stuff on bra fitting: When you buy a bra, you should only be able to close it on the widest hook and be able to fit two fingers between your spine and the band when you pull it away but not more. Try it with the cups on your back first to find out the right band size and then see which cup size you need.…

Sherry, hope you're having a great evening (I think we're in the same time zone) and that you'll be able to sleep better tonight! It was a tough journey arriving at that outlook on fitness and I still struggle with it sometimes, which is one reason I usually prefer working out on my own. I like your quote as well! Good…

I haven't been to the uni gym yet so I don't know if they have a power rack. The positioning of my back foot isn't a problem I think, as long as the surface is slightly padded. But I'll keep that in mind! The MFP method worked well for me while I was doing only Fitnessblender workouts since they give an estimate of…

True! I'm now starting to put a lifting routine together for when I can start going to the gym in August (still checking if I might be able to start already in July though). Really excited about it :) I also decided that I'm gonna switch to TDEE for logging. I've been using MFP's method with eating back exercise calories,…

Thanks, Rayman79, I'm happy about advice from other people as well of course :) At this point, yes, fat loss while preserving muscle is my primary goal I suppose. I also want to get fitter, stronger, faster and retain my flexibility - in short, I want it all. But since I guess I can't get everything at once, I would put…

Hehe, nice one, Maureen! Can't believe I didn't post again yesterday. Ah well....I'm still going strong with Cassey, actually managed to finish today's routine without having to take a break BUT I also switched all the jumping moves for their lower impact versions and couldn't do any of the plank moves properly because of…

Hey all! I didn't get time to write yesterday and when I got home in the evening, I was too lazy to turn my computer back on. Also don't have much time now but wanted to at least check in quickly. I'm still following Cassey's June plan and am so sore, especially my obliques, which is definitely a first. But I really like…

I'll be on vacation the last two weeks of June so won't set very high goals as well. But I already have one goal for July :D So I just want to follow Cassey's June plan until then and make my vacation as active as possible (we'll go hiking and make two city trips so at least I should be able to walk around a fair bit). I…

Hey everyone! Donna and Laura, sounds like you both had a great time! And Donna, good luck for your half marathon today! Like I said, I switched from Cassey's beginner calender to the regular one for June today. She combines a couple of her own videos to make it into a full hour roughly and it's not just traditional…

Beautiful avatar, Laura! Sherry, yes, that's quite possible. While I also feel like I've done something after a tough pilates routine, it's just not the same feeling of accomplishment as after HIIT. Ah well, Wednesday I have my PT appointment. Sounds like you got a good workout in today! I'm getting back on track with my…

Funnily enough I now have sore muscles from the one exercise that I could finish without taking a break during that additional pilates video yesterday. I kinda miss doing HIIT....I miss the cardiovascular challenge and also the additional calories :D I really enjoy pilates and strength training but I don't think I'd ever…

Hi Ruby! I did the low impact programme at the beginning of this year and really enjoyed it. Some of the workouts were deceptively difficult  I then moved on to round 4 of the regular plans which I finished about 2 weeks ago. Even though my weight loss has been slow, I've made great progress fitness-wise so I…

Sherry, hope you'll be able to sort things out soon! Laura, how did your weigh-in go yesterday? I'm on a strict nothing-but-pilates workout routine now since both my knees are now hurting when I move certain ways and my right foot is also starting to pipe up :/ Hopefully the physiotherapist will be helpful, got the…

Hehe, that's a good one, Sherry! (Hope you got a chance to catch up on sleep last night.) Good morning, everyone! Don't know if I'll have time to write later so I though I'd at least check in now. I was looking for alternative Pilates videos yesterday since, like I said, I always do the same (a DVD I bought when I first…

I went way over my calories yesterday so I restricted my net calories for the rest of the week to balance it out. Today it worked fairly well but left me really hungry in the afternoon. Will have to plan better for tomorrow. I'm actually not sure now why I ever stopped doing Pilates since I've always loved it, I think I…

Hey all! Valmaebel, how are your injuries today? Hope you'll soon be able to go back out there. Laura, yeah, the ones I saw were also reusable ones. I think they're actually intended for use during workouts. Today was my first day back to working out "on my own". I did a 15 minute dance workout as warm up that was not my…

Oh, and if my math is correct here (is it?), my calorie burn (both TDEE and without training) is considerably higher than I would have thought and than I get from pretty much any calculator out there... I just did the math for the last 30 days. I've been logging everything for most days, there are altogether maybe 5 days…

Thanks for all the water advice, you girls are awesome! We actually don't own any bottles since we drink tap water but if I get clearance to start running, I'll probably get a small one....I think I saw bottles with a strap/handle to carry that I guess would hold maybe 200 - 250 ml in the supermarket so that might be a…

Hey everyone, Hope you're enjoying your Saturday!! Laura, again good luck for your run! And yeah, that's exactly how I felt when I started walking. While all exercise helps, there's something about walking outdoors that just beats stress like nothing else. I'm wondering, though, how do you hydrate yourself when it's hot? I…
