  • http://www.simplywhisked.com/spicy-sriracha-broccoli-slaw/ I make this for my lunches a lot, also made it for a work pot luck and it was gone before any of the desserts. I personally don't put the broccoli in, just carrots, red cabbage, and green cabbage for color. It's simple and people liked it and a little different…
  • Yeah, once you get through you realize its all just a lesson in futility. Then once you get through A school, you'll get to your first command and realize its all different, but good. Which week are you on?
  • You'll end boot the same way you start it; sleep deprived.
  • Don't worry, plenty of time to write in Boot!
  • Well I'll add mine, but most know it already. Went to Boot 05JAN2009, recently reenlisted. Now I'm and E5, MA2(AW).
  • According to your profile you are 19 years old, this means you've been drinking coke at a study rate for 12-13 years. Whether or not it makes you gain weight isn't even the problem. The problem is that soda has zero nutritional redemption at all. I have no doubt that the massive amounts of sugar will cause weight gain in…
  • I eat a banana with peanut butter nearly everyday. For me it's enough to satiate my appetite for peanut butter and I still lost about 2lbs/week when working out and eating properly.

  • Hey, I'm an MA with a little over 4 years in, and I just reenlisted back in December for 6 more I have the same basic goals as anyone else, stay healthy, keep my weight down and my PT up. I've found that the best thing for me is healthy food, and exercise regularly, there's just no way around it.
  • I'm an MA with a little over four years in. I too got to enjoy Great Lakes in Jan/Feb, of 2009. Later on that year I got to enjoy the -30 windchill on the flight line in NE. It is true you get what you put into it, or as someone once told me, 'The Navy helps those that help themselves.' I was promised E3 out of boot camp…
  • No problem. If you have any rate specific questions just let me know. I won't tell you everything-I feel that there are certain things you just need to go through and learn on your own, but still, always feel free to ask.
  • Yeah, I'd never shot until boot camp. I was so nervous and flustered with the RDCs and line coaches and everyone around us. Eventually I passed. Your orders are going to depend upon what they have open while you're at A school. The only orders that I can almost say without a doubt will be Bangor, and they are doing those…
  • Yup. IRR-Inactive Ready Reserves. You muster once a year, are supposed to stay drug free, in shape, and uniforms up to date 'just in case' but you aren't drilling and mustering once a month-it's still an option though. However, before the end of your active duty part of the contract you will submit PTS where you can try and…
  • Cassidy- Unfortunately getting a specialization within a rate isn't always as easy as that. You will go to A school and learn the basic MA rate like all MAs. Depending on what orders look like, sometimes, handler orders are open for those straight out of A school. I know two people in my class were picked, however, this is…
  • Well I guess you're doing everything right. There's nothing to change at all.
  • You probably have to be friends with you to see it, because I can't. Just do whatever I guess. Being a server, while hard on the body isn't really hard labor. I worked fast food for 9+ years and never considered it to be exercise. 30 lb weight loss in 4 mos is still healthy. I don't know your story, but I doubt that…
  • It's hard to know when we don't know what you are eating. I can tell you that personally I lose weight quickly with fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, chicken, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt. Sometimes I have a small bowl of pasta with a marinara sauce, oatmeal for breakfast with fruit that I cut up and cook in there. Keep up…
  • If you want it, you are going to have to work for it. There will be days you get off a 12 hr shift and have to PT afterward, in boot camp/ A school you will get up early and run, etc. Might as well start now. As someone who went in at nearly 28 years old, and who was never really physically active I can tell you this, it's…
  • You can never be too good on the running.
  • Yeah. Really what you should focus on is running, especially if you aren't great at it.
  • Honestly it doesn't matter if you know them all now. You'll have so much time to learn them in boot camp, and most people brain dump them right after. Not me of course, four+ years in and I still know my 12 general orders ;)
  • Good luck to both of you. Give it your all and make us MAs proud. -MA2(AW)
  • I haven't had to deal with it, but I have friends who have. It's best to change it prior to joining. You think it's a process as a civilian, it's even worse once in the military.
  • I saw the same documentary and bought a juicer the next day. I briefly thought about juicing for an extended amount of time but I got to thinking about it, personally I like fruit juice, the only vegetable I've juiced thus far, and liked was carrots ( I like vegetable juice, but can't seem to make it taste good). One of…
  • Well I'm proud to say I'll be serving another 6 years with the world's finest Navy.
  • When you're an MA you'll see.
  • You should go PRP! It's the best thing ever!
  • congrats, keep at it.
  • Well only you know if your run etc. Is within the time needed to pass.
  • Honestly I'd say if you know the orders, rank structure, and creed already you're fine. Boot camp consists of large amounts of time just sitting quietly and studying. The thing to focus on is the run, push ups, and sit ups. When you go in no one cares if you are 20 or 30, you're still a boot and if you are slower than the…
