  • Are we talking ice-cream or....???
  • Get a mayo made with olive oil.. or whip up your own (or an aioli) instead. Healthy fats... just don't eat a lb of egg salad in a sitting.. and account for it in your diary/caloric goals
  • ^^I don't know why I didn't think of this- he's right. Papaya (papain), ficin (figs) and pineapple (bromelain) are actually used to make meat tenderizer powders... they're proteases (break down protein). Kiwi is another natural protease (which is why it's SO difficult to bake with!).
  • I didn't even think to ask- what KIND of workouts are you doing? Lifting is hard on the CNS, as are some other exercises, so resting is very important for recovery and progress.
  • I'm afraid of losing lean body mass (muscle) while I'm eating at a deficit and working out. I'm also afraid of my ridiculous lack of self-control when it comes to carbs/sugar- including fruit. So more protein and moderate fat intake (mostly MUFAs and PUFAs) works for me. But it's not for everyone.
  • I eat a lot of protein (mostly chicken, eggs, egg whites, some lean beef, and fish.. very little fruit (about 130 g of frozen strawberries in a shake), and low carb, but I make sure to get enough fiber from green veggies, sweet potatoes, and the occasional high fiber wrap. I also drink about a gallon of water each day and…
  • I always have 2 rest days from lifting, though on one of them I usually either get in a longer run or do some sort of flexibility training, like yoga. :-) Give your body a break... and about quarterly, take a week to deload (lift lower weights or take a week off).
  • You are my new hero! Making me want to push to get to where you are (or at least faster than where I am)! Great job!
  • TRUUUUUUTH EA: I <3 this thread!
  • Can we all agree to call it metabolic adaptation? It will be VASTLY useful for people to look up "metabolic adaptation" and find real research results rather than googling "starvation mode" and getting a bunch of malarky.
  • OoooOOoo.. I looked it up- fancy :-) Let me know how it is (if you get it). I use the $6 accu-measure old school caliper atm.
  • Ahhh the resolute masses. :-) Everyone has to start somewhere.. I have a home gym now and it gets a little lonely sometimes, and I miss the eye candy. Not enough to deal with the resolute masses, but there's always something.
  • Edit to remove double pics...
  • The funny thing I, I already have the Xtend (bought it out of chance I guess) and I'm not even interested in the workouts (they're fine, but I have my own workout regimen). And I think I answered my own question about the diet plan. I was questioning the amount of fat they recommend.. but considering it's almost completely…
  • The BCG line at Academy is super cheap and they have some cute stuff. I bought a ton of their stretchy skort things to work out and run it (they are AWESOME for the gym because it has the spandex shorties under and the skirt for additional coverage- even on the abductor/adductor machine (the one that looks like should be…
  • And... slow and steady is the key. Rapid fat loss releases toxins (that are stored in fat) into the bloodstream and can then be transferred to breastmilk and subsequently baby.
  • It does help some women.. but the hormones required to maintain milk production also help your body to hold on to the necessary fat to maintain milk production, especially in the trunk (lower abdomen, hips, butt, thighs). http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/80/2/423.long Don't count on breastfeeding to melt the lbs off.. but…
  • I've lost all of my weight thus far while breastfeeding. :-) I'm just now starting to introduce formula as I'm rejoining the world. Don't create too much of a deficit, make sure to drink PLENTY of water, oatmeal and fenugreek are supply boosters for a lot of women. Also keep taking your vitamins. :-) Good luck!
  • Nevermind misread your post.. but.... try using this http://www.1percentedge.com/ifcalc/ calculator... and since you are more active.. I would consider changing from sedentary to at least slightly active. There are even some calculators online that you can use to more closely approximate your calorie burn in activity…
  • You can absolutely do it! As Yoovie stated earlier, my progress is from lifting heavy and eating below my TDEE (but above BMR) and I've only recently started doing more cardio. Lifting (focusing on compound movements like squats, deadlift, etc) is where it's at!!!
  • I've posted my results/before and during before as well, but it never hurts (and it really helps to keep me motivated to keep pushing) so here goes: Before: Sept. 2012 After: Dec 2012 (Just a few short months and a whole lot of strength training later My new "mom jeans" ;-) ETA: several apologies: Sorry for the messiness,…
  • I love animals, dogs in particular. I've worked with several trainers and in a vet hospital. There are very few dogs who are just natually MEAN. Having said that, this dog needs help, guidance, patience.. and time. Unfortunately, you don't have enough time to get him to where he needs to be before your child is born. Find…
  • I eat at a deficit, strength train (lift heavy weights focusing on full body exercises like squats, deadlifts etc), and do CORE work about twice each week. I VERY RARELY do crunches.. but I do planks, back hyperextensions, etc. I feel my core/abdominals/obliques in various strength exercises that I do already. I recntly…
  • Finding out my ex-fiance was not father material.. when we brought our newborn son home from the hospital. Cancelling the wedding and throwing his loser a$% to the curb. Then finding out that the 60+ lbs I gained while pregnant wasn't going to just magically fall off of me immediately. But... life goes on. And tomorrow if…
  • When I was a teenager, I decided to "become an optimist" one year for Lent. I took every "bad" situation and pointed out 3 positives about it (some of them took some creativity). It worked. Now I'm a jaded b**** because of a crappy ex. I'm working on fixing that. hah.
  • Pretty sure all women like their men a little on the "thick" side. Oh... that's not what you meant. hah
  • "amazon". Really dude? Please, make me feel like a beautiful woman by calling me "amazon". He suffered for that one. ETA: He's an ex now. :-)
  • You look amazing. You've done an incredible job!
