Buying foods that are "gluten free" (i.e. chemically processed to be a gluten substitute or made with gluten alternatives (like nut flour etc) can be expensive... eating foods that are naturally gluten-free is a whole other ball game. We shouldn't be looking for things to sub for them- they're given to us in natural forms…

So you know: DGA takes a few years to catch up to research. The links between dietary cholesterol and blood cholesterol have been disputed and clinically disproven in several studies... so this will be dramatically altered in upcoming years.

I'd say talk to your pediatrician and/or a doctor in sports med. There are particular issues to consider like natural growth and development, hormone variations etc. Talk to someone who knows those effects/risks specific to children.

Scientifically speaking, it is the ripened, seed-bearing ovary of a plant, thus (in botanical terms) it is a fruit. It also comes from a tree and can be used in fruit applications (some desserts etc), so many consider it a fruit. It is often considered a vegetable (in its culinary aspect) as it has many savory…

As the creator of the ManCandy thread I have to chime in- fun to look at, not what I base my relationship/partner selections on. I've dated all types- none of whom were based on looks/body. I could show you the pics to prove it. :-) ETA: NOOONE of them were wealthy. Apparently, I'm a moron.

It was at least quick-witted? I had an ex tell me once that I was "only allowed to gain weight 2 or 3 times in our 'life together'" (referring to when I popped out his kids). Needless to say, that relationship didn't last. I was, and still am, out of his league looks-wise. He still calls to ask "how I'm doing".…

Le DANG. <3 this site... kind of wishing you hadn't posted it because now I'm going to have to be uber dedicated and get one of the monokinis. ;-)

I second skinnytaste.com! I cook for one most of the time- chicken breasts and whole sweet potatoes baked in the oven, eggs, and I buy the steamfresh packages of various veggies, brown rice, etc. Meals made in the crockpot (require little prep/cooking time or skill) usually last for a few days and can be really…

One of the things from the list? Or one serving of the above? Either way- sure, I could do it, but at the moment it's not a priority. I don't deprive myself of everything, but I'm not going to have that sort of overindulgence for a while either. :-)

ENERGY consumption is/has been rising... that's the culprit, not a particular macromolecule group.

Accountability is a major part of weight loss and a healthier lifestyle- but unfortunately, outside accountability isn't all that productive. It needs to come from ourselves, as the only true motivation is self-motivation. She's not ready to make a change... and you can't make her be. :-/

WELCOME... let the fawning begin.

Food is very emotionally linked for a LOT of people- we use it in celebration, out of sadness/gladness/guilt/anxiety... so understanding the WHY is a big part of changing your habits and approach to food. :-)

For me- a food journal helps with this- I don't mean logging food, I mean the emotions/feelings/circumstances surrounding the meals. Before you eat, write down your: mood, location, any additional circumstances, and why you're choosing the foods you're eating. After you eat record you feelings/mood/thoughts. Yeah- it takes…
