  • you can add a protein powder you like to oatmeal or smoothies. or eat protein bars as a go to meal or snack. do you like tofu? you can make tofu scrambles (like scrambled eggs) with extra firm tofu varieties. or stir fry dishes with tofu or tofu 'steaks' with whatever sides you like. do you eat any fish? i like tuna in…
  • well there are other things i've been wanting to check out in there so it wouldn't hurt to go ahead & get a membership sometime soon
  • i need to get a membership there and start shopping then!
  • These are all great suggestions, thanks so much! and I think I am up to trying to make my own. I already do drink smoothies sometimes with protein powder, but I like having something dry & ready for on the go when I'm out and about. Also that youbar thing is very neat! def might try that sometime. as for all the other…
  • haha i know i didn't mean for anybody to do my research for me, it was a shot in the dark to see if anybody else with nut allergies had found a bar that worked for them. but i think i do remember looking into quest bars and each of them contained almonds unfortunately! i've been trying to look online but the ones i find…
  • i don't eat red meat, does turkey/chicken jerky have the same amount of protein? also i never thought about protein cookies and that has just given me the idea to also look into some protein cookie/bars i could make at home perhaps (my lazy self didn't think of this until just now haha). thank you
  • fat's not the enemy necessarily. and plenty of protein sources are low in fat. eat fish & poultry! and you can eat as much fruit as you like if it fits into your calorie goals, but i try not to go toooo crazy on it because of the carbs. i still eat lots of apple slices, strawberries and banana and berries each day. i also…
  • oh wow, i've never seen canned shrimp. or rather, i don't pay attention. plus i'm allergic now :'( enjoy the shrimp for me... the canned salmon wasn't too bad! a little bland, but good thrown in a salad. i still prefer baked/grilled salmon. but it's not too shabby for some protein in a salad or something. i just add lots…
  • i use both canned chicken & tuna (and salmon!). sometimes i eat it plain or with a little bit of stuff mixed in as a snack. or i use the canned chicken (sometimes tuna) in things like salads, burritos/quesadillas, a pot full of veggies/beans/salsa w some chicken in it etc. i'll throw it in pasta type dishes too. really it…
  • i think everyone's goal weight is gonna be different, because everyone's body isn't exactly the same inside & out. but i'm 5ft and my goal is anywhere from 95-105. it fluctuates.
  • also forgot to mention i had this fear of eating more/gaining weight when i was recovering from being underweight, due to medical issues. but i regained it back healthily and am back on track. much happier actually.
  • i'm not sure what to tell you but i definitely feel this (although i also have a past with EDs) but when it comes to maintenance it's a whole entire new ball game. like sure i know how to lose weight, of course i do. that's a simple enough formula, eat less/move more. but maintenance? that's a little more tricky. because…
  • as i said before i have nut allergies, dairy sensitivities, and don't eat redmeat and most poultry for personal reasons. i don't think it's a waste when i can throw it in something to make a batch of cookies or mug cake in the microwave to settle a sweet craving every now & then and also get bonus protein. plus i've seen…
  • i've been in what i call recovery for over a year now, and the weird thing is, even after i thought i was eating more, i still ended up losing my period when i lost too much weight a few months ago unintentionally (think it has been hormonal issues as well). it took months for my period to come back, so when i lost it i…
  • not from cali (texas girl), but moved here a few months ago. live outside of LA
  • alrighty, i'm really enjoying all this input. thanks yall  for now i just have a vanilla soy protein powder with a minimal list of ingredients i picked up yesterday (before reading all of this lol) from fresh&easy, so it'll have to do for now. but i'm def gonna keep those brands you have all mentioned in mind, and…
  • Yes I feel it would help me out some days especially since I can't eat a lot of certain nuts due to allergies & I don't eat most meats so eh I figured why not. But a lot ppl seem to be against it and I was just wondering why exactly. I mean at the end of the day I know its ultimately up to me :p
  • Omg I need coffee too cus I meant to type make pancakes, not eggs lol
  • Some days I'm under my protein goals by 30-40 grams, so I thought it might be okay to throw in some powder to make eggs some mornings on workout days. But Idk
  • sometimes it's futile to try and explain to them that all you have to do is watch/weigh what you eat & get active some. it's like they want to keep believing in some magical cure, lol. and some people boast to me about not eating breakfast/lunch, and eating just dinner but somehow not losing weight as if it matters when…
  • yeah i didn't think so either. i'll get everything checked when i go in for thyroid disease testing.
  • yeah it might be a good idea to up my water intake i guess! especially since i'm living in a dryer climate now. and agh. think i am one of those who get frequent exertion headaches. and i forget to take painkillers before most of the time, but i def take one after when it's a little too late. sometimes i take ibuprofen or…
  • this is all great input, thanks guys. i guess when i sit back and think about i am prone to headaches in general. and do have seasonal allergies, along with bad posture. i'm racking up points here. oh and let's not forget stress in general, which i try to exercise to help out with, but sometimes i think it is that i push…
  • what can i do to help with blood sugar if that's the issue? or would i need to see if there are any underlying issues from a dr about blood sugar levels and what not. also alice, how do i know if i'm holding stress & tension in my upper body? i dont think i am but i might be!
  • btw the only exercises i usually do are running/walking and pilates, sometimes crossfit vids, and yoga.
  • i always run at night to avoid the sun & excess heat cus i have skin issues that react negatively to exposure to sunlight & heat. so i don't think i need sunglasses for running  and ah ok. i know, i really should get to a doctor one of these days i already have a lot of indications that i have thyroid issues, lol.…
  • i try to drink around 3-4 16.9 ounce bottles of water, sometimes it varies. but i also drink hot teas a lot too, on most days. also snack on a lot of hydrating fruits/veg etc. but this headache thing has gone on for years as far as i remember. not constantly, but consistently. what causes imbalances?
  • it's totally okay to do it every now and then. when im with my family, i usually only log food or what i can and drink a heck of a lot of sweet tea (from the south, loveee sweet tea) and dont log it. it's never permanently damaged me. plus it's yummy & fun and usually i get more bursts of energy after consuming an excess…
  • well i'm 5 foot, and i stay in the 97-106 range. i think it's fairly normal! just on the smaller size. it just depends on your body type tbh. i even looked super normal at around 125 pounds a couple of years ago, and i was probably even 4'10 or 4'11 then. currently i'm around 105.
