Our diets don't have cute names like "primal" with a list of "good" and "bad" foods. And yes, you do appear a bit naive and uneducated about food. But it's OK. You're new. Keep reading the forums and you'll learn a lot, and hopefully you will be able to find more success than "0 pounds lost."

My favorite thing on MFP is when "not fit" newbies with a ton of weight to lose and "0 lbs lost" tell all the successful people they're unhealthy and need to start eating "healthy food."

Supplements? I take a few mineral supplements right now because I had a stomach flu for a couple of weeks that appeared to have caused me some deficiencies, but other than that I don't use supplements. Calorie balance determines weight loss. Doesn't matter in terms of weight loss where those calories come from. That said, nutrients do matter. Eating protein helps retain lean mass. No one gets sick or hurt until they get sick or hurt. You can afford health insurance. It might make it so you have to give up some luxuries you enjoy like cable TV and eating out or whatever. The ACA was specifically designed to force people like you to pay into the system.

Well MFP's calorie calculation is only based on a handful of variables: Weight Age Gender Activity level Planned weight loss Assuming your age and gender didn't change, and your weight didn't increase, the activity level or planned weight loss must have changed. You may not be aware that it changed, though.

Because you either changed your activity setting (lightly active/sedentary/etc) or your planned weight loss (1 lb/week, 0.5 lb/week, etc).
