Depo has a SIGNIFICANTLY higher rate of weight gain in clinical trails than any other method. So yes, you are probably correct.

Most oral birth control methods have a less than 1% clinical rate of weight gain during trials. It's unlikely, especially if you are logging and tracking!

My guess would be blood pressure, too. When I first started walking and biking again, I would have a LOT of headaches. I never did actually go to the doctor about it, but I can tell you that now I don't have that problem anymore! As long as you can bear it, keep it up - it will get better!

Ah, Turbo Tax. The software where I entered my refund from the previous year, and it is still visible in the system, but didn't transfer to the forms resulting in an audit by the IRS and paying back $1,500. So yeah. That's what I think of that.

This is what I was taught in biology and nursing school.... but even knowing it, I honestly don't pay a ton of attention to it when working out. Obviously if I'm biking at my peak heart rate, I change things. (Especially since I distance ride). Some argue that this is why those who pick up speed walking tend to lose more…

I don't understand. "Enjoyed" and "running" cannot be in the same sentence. No, I'm kidding - my husband LOVES running. And I always kind of thought that I would love running, too, but it just never happened. However, I am madly in love with my bicycle. :-) Also, I love your profile name. I was originally a clarinet…

My current pic is all you need.

Knowing it's a problem is the best place to start. If I have a glass of wine with/after dinner for a few days in a row, the few days following without KILL me.... I'll have a horrible sweet tooth. Same if I eat dessert a few days in a row. So those days when I'm not having sweets and I'm roaming the kitchen looking for…

Dear God; Thank you for my Mirena. Sincerely, Me.

I L.O.V.E. my UnderArmor bra. Prior to that I would wear a normal bra with a sports bra over it. Doubling up worked well, but wasn't very comfy. I use my Underarmor in spin, road cycling, skiing and Jillian. :-)

Yay! Isn't that the best? Awesome NSV! :-) And you're lucky it's working! while I dropped weight, I seemed to have shifted the weight, too.... so my pants all fit me wrong. *Sigh* But it's still awesome! :-)

I like most of what you said, but I left the hospital with both children weighing less than I did when I conceived them. I had my son on my due date, my daughter a week overdue. My son was 9lb 7oz, my daughter 8lb 13oz. I didn't gain a pound during the first pregnancy, gained 10 with the second. I had to go buy smaller…

You could use the breastfeeding entry and deduct 500, then manually adjust it if you wanted.

Current recommendations for weight gain: Pre-pregnancy weight Recommended weight gain Underweight (BMI less than 18.5) 28 to 40 pounds (about 13 to 18 kilograms) Normal weight (BMI 18.5 to 24.9) 25 to 35 pounds (about 11 to 16 kilograms) Overweight (BMI 25 to 29.9) 15 to 25 pounds (about 7 to 11 kilograms) Obese (BMI 30 or…

The amount of weight to gain depends on starting weight now, according to the ACOG. For a normal BMI it's 25-35. For overweight/obese women it's far less. I was about 190 pounds when I got pregnant with my daughter, and the recommendation for me was 11-15 pounds. Great article from ACOG:…

I know the health packages offered at some of them are HUGE... they get really extensive. Personal trainers and the whole works - especially for positions hard to fill. (Like certified nurse midwives in Alaska!)

I can't speak for the hospital in question, but most area hospitals here have access to gyms for free within the building for their employees. They offer healthy snacks and meals in their cafeterias. And they have access to health insurance that far exceeds the norm for our area. They ARE offering to help.... but it's not…

I disagree. Like banking, sometimes there are circumstances that aren't factored in the screening, because it's a blanket screening. Lots of people have credit issues from health issues, job loss, or a brief error in judgement when co-signing a loan. That doesn't mean they are bad employees. It doesn't mean they would ever…

This is true - and it's true for so many other things. Mortgage lenders cannot lose their house in foreclosure, or they lose their license. SO many jobs are doing credit screening now. And you can argue it the same way - you have some control, but sometimes there are circumstances out of your control.... and that sucks. Is…

I had to, because I knew whatever it was, I could do it better.

If it's on, I leave it on and sweat it off. If it's not on, f that. I do distance biking, and the only people I tend to talk to are old guys when I stop at gas stations, because they tend to be the most fascinated in what I'm doing, oddly enough. And for the record, I do not leave the house for any other reason without my…

Why would you buy her one? That would just reinforce gender roles and set the stage for female oppression. *Sigh* Okay, I'm being slightly extreme and sarcastic, but seriously, I don't understand why you wouldn't. My daughter plays trucks with my son (who is older) and then insists on wearing a giant puffy poodle skirt to…

I wish Ron Swanson would marry me....

Disagree. While not "heavy lifting", if you suck it up and keep increasing your weights, it's some pretty reasonable quick strength training. If you continue using 2 pound weights for months on end, likely not to help much. OP, consider heavier weights. Also, did you take measurements? I didn't lose more than half a pound…

You know, thinking about this further I'm thinking that it was part of kindergarten screening, in which they check sight and hearing as well to make sure they are prepared for school. They did the same to my son. However, his BMI was fine and he was in the "healthy" range according to his paperwork. I just pulled it out of…

My son is tall - wears size 7 at 4 years old. He weighs like 48 pounds. My doctor says he's perfect, and his BMI is always around 18. He's not fat. However, I get grief from a lot of lower level health providers - they look at his weight only and say "he's obese.". They have charts to compare height/weight. My son is the…

Bad stories = tell EVERYONE. Good stories = tell no one. I have it. I love it. Weight gain is highly unlikely - occurs in less than 1% of those in clinical trials. My acne is the the as before - I break out during "that time" of the month. I am one of the 20% that did lose their period, but I still have other symptoms,…

Whoa, wait. What? Do you know that in many cultures, children are allowed to breastfeed until they naturally wean.... which, in those cultures, tends to be around age 8? NATURALLY weaning at age 8. The AAP and other organizations recommends breastfeeding until age 2. So we are definitely designed to drink milk past infancy.

Wine. Bacon. Cadbury Eggs. Fun dip. My husband's lemon butter chicken pasta. (There's like 12 tbsp of butter in the recipe.... yum!) Taco Bell. All you can eat sushi. But that's okay.... because I'm strong and I eat pretty much whatever I want. In moderation, of course.

I know lots of food that tastes better than skinny feels. For example.... bacon. I look at it somewhat the same way - why deprive myself of food {bacon} when I can instead eat it {in moderation} and instead of only eating 800 calories a day I can eat 1,600, maintain, and gain strength... and be healthier? I'll take the…
