I run 8k in around that time and burn around 390-400 cals. I think MFP is grossly overextimating your calorie burn!

My diet has always been 'normal'. I just ate less & moved more. I shall continue to do so (at maintenance) for the rest of my life. I lost 38lbs and got down comfortably into just below the mid-point of 'normal' BMI for my height/age (20.3).

Good luck with your journey. I am also in SW UK. Your plan sounds like a good one - protein & fats will make you feel fuller for longer, rather than carbs, but I would recommend not cutting them out altogether - just get used to eating a smaller portion of eg potatoes. This 'diet' is a lifestlye change, and is not…

Are you sure you are burning 860 cals in a 45 min run? How far are you getting in 45mins?

Last July did C25K program starting at 153lbs (5'2"). Now at 115lbs, and run 4-5 miles (non-stop) 3-4 times a week. Get a good sports bra and proper running shoes! Edited to add - I'm no spring chicken either - I will be 52 next week & never ran before in my life! ;)
-
I run for 50-60 mins, 3-4 times a week (rest days in between each run)

Sweet chilli sauce, lime juice & ginger on top. Chuck in the oven for 10-15 mins til just done - yum!

Just accept that it won't be accurate but find something in the database that's 'near enough'.
-
Nope. I cook extra portions of home made food & freeze them.

153lbs and unable to run for a bus. Now? 117lbs and running 4-5 miles, 3 times a week.

You have no idea how many calories you are eating unless you WEIGH your food!!

Discovered the joys of running (bonus - I now have slim muscular legs) and I shop for dresses now (never used to wear them). I've lost 34lbs and am 2lbs off my goal weight.

Actually toddlers need a lot more as (i) they are usually pretty active and (ii) they are undergoing vast amounts of cell division and growth.

He isn't trying to 'get' to 1280. If you'd read it he says his goal is 1800. He wanted to eat more and was looking for healthy calorie-rich foods to have.

Yeah I use running socks. Very comfortable & I find after a run, my feet are hot but NOT wet - they wick all the sweat away.

Yup! Well done, it works! I, too, like the discipline of logging. My food choices have not changed much (mainly because I was eating pretty healthily to start with) but I eat smaller portions, and more importantly I move more. I started a C25K program and my exercise (logged by Endomondo) links in to my calorie goals. I am…

'Free form meat'??? Either way the animal has to be slaughtered. In fact, 'local' butchers will often just use the nearest slaughterhouse.

That's because there's no such thing. 'Bread', in the strictest sense of the term, means it's made from the flour of grains or seeds. Grains & seeds contain carbohydrates (starch).

Yes...must admit I'm got the 'bug' now & I'm tempted to up the stakes a bit next year!!

Go for it!! I've been running for about 6 months and did my first 5K back in November (37 mins). I've been steadily increasing my distance since and regularly run 4-5 miles, 3x week. I ran 10K in training to see if I could do it & took 1hr 12mins. Like you I am just contemplating entering my first 10K race!

I'm a 51yr old female & I work very similar hours & when I get home around 4pm it's just getting dark. I run around my small town's streets - I wear a fluorescent tabard with reflective strips, plus reflective 'snap bands' on my ankles. Most of it is on pavements, with good streetlights, but a couple of sections are on the…

Not necessarily. When I hit my target weight of 117lbs, my BMR at my age & height will be just over 1,000. Add a sedentary job to that & you're not going to be going much over 1200 to maintain.

51 here. Not gone through the menopausal thing yet - started on MFP around beginning of June. Started running via C25K program (not run since schooldays!) and now do 5K 2-3 times a week. 28lbs lost, about another 8lbs to go, but getting harder now!
