  • With Hashi's it's been trial/error for me. It seems that avoiding gluten has made a big difference for me. Also, limiting the "starchy" carbs that I eat in place of wheat helps. But eating complex carbs - the rainbow of fresh fruits and veggies to balance out the lean protein I eat seems to be the right mix of nutrition so…
  • My husband has been so supportive of me throughout the 27+ years we have been married as I have struggled with weight issues. He has never said an unkind word about it. We went on vacation to the shore home of a family member. While everyone else was chugging beer, eating cheeseburgers, hoagies (and lots of healthy food…

  • I don't eat back all of my exercise calories but I do eat back some of them because I am not a person who is fun to live with on 1200 calories. But I don't have reverse t3 issues to deal with. Everyone's thyroid issues are unique to them - it would be so much easier if there was a one size all treatment plan. Many doc's…
  • Others may disagree (because everyone is different) but the addition of t3 hormone did not make weight loss easier for *me*. It did balance out my hormone levels so that I had a sense of well-being and I felt like myself again!
  • I think everyone has to experiment and see what works for them and what doesn't. I eat everything on that list with the exceptions noted below: I am doing gluten free with my grain choices and it seems to be making a big difference in my ability to lose weight. I did this because I have hashi's and I have read that there…
  • Terri gave you lots of good advice. Just want to chime in here to check out the website stopthethyroidmadness.com And to 2nd the motion for firing your doctor. Many of us have gone from doctor to doctor, not at all uncommon for thyroid patients.
  • Everyone is different and what works for me may be a disaster for you. My point of view is what I was doing before did not work so I need to change things and figure out what works by trial and error. Here are the changes I have implemented in the last month which seem to be working for me: 1.) I eat breakfast every…
  • amatxi you mentioned feeling bloated. Does this happen often? I find that is one of the changes since going off gluten, not feeling bloated the other being not being constipated - I know tmi ;)
  • Terri When I am at high levels of stress I cannot eat. When I am at normal levels of stress all I want to do is eat. I know you are dealing with a lot of food allergy/intolerance issues. Maybe your body does need some treats. Have you checked out any of the gluten free blogs (or vegan) and baked yourself a nice treat?…

  • sounds delish! I make a smoothie with a cup of almond milk, 1/2 banana, 1/4 cup blueberries and 2-3 strawberries and it comes to 125 calories
  • Ginnylee I bought a Polar FT4. There is no stainless steel touching your skin on the band you put around your heart it's kind of like a bra strap. The watch is plastic but the back of it is stainless steel and the buttons but I don't think you have to wear the watch while working out. Just have it near you to start and…
  • Update: Since posting this I have lost3 weeks in a row: 2/6. -2 2/13 -2 2/20 -1 total 5 pounds, I think the elimination of gluten and casein (dairy)proteins has made a difference, I also increased my calories, nothing happens at 1200 so I've been at 1400-1700 with exercise 6x per week.
  • Thanks for the additional information!
  • Terri I have a feeling I have a lower than average (as compared to the general public) resting metabolic rate. It really changes things for us. It is really hard for me to stay in the 1200 calorie range because I am hungry. If I exercise 45-60 minutes per day and eat 1200 calories, I will not lose weight. I have proved…
  • Few questions if you don't mind. How long have you been taking this supplement? How long have you been taking armour? Where is the supplement manufactured? What are the ingredients in the supplement? Thanks!
  • Great recap - thanks Terri!
  • Just stopping in real quick to say hello and wish everyone a great week!

  • Welcome Martine! My name is Donna and I am 53. As I was reading your post some things hit home with me. As a child I had asthma (which has not been an issue in adult life), I was diagnosed with endometriosis in my mid20's and hashimoto's thyroiditus in my 40's (it went undiagnosed for years as I went from doctor to doctor…

  • I've always been a morning person so I work out in the am. If I don't get it done then - it's just not going to happen. I have a lot of weight to lose and what I have been doing in the past just isn't working. So, I am trying new things, it's all trial & error. I do feel that working out first thing in the morning is…
  • mebohan go to the website stopthethyroidmadness.com It is a wealth of information. It will give you an explanation of each of the tests in a thyroid panel and which ones are significant and what the results mean. If I understood your post correctly you stated you tested positive for thyroid antibodies. If this is correct,…
  • Lappleget congrats on your weight loss - fantastic! Ladies, with all due respect if you have autoimmune thyroid disease and have hypothyroid symptoms you should be medicated.
