1) yes: either oatmeal, eggs, or cottage cheese because they keep me satisfied until it's time for lunch. 2) 22 lbs since mid-May.. 3) I don't know that it does anything for my metabolism, but I suspect it might. I know that I feel so much better when I eat breakfast. I have more energy, better concentration, and it…

You've gotten lots of good advice and I hope some ideas about different ways people deal with their eating. Personally, I don't keep sweet stuff in the house as it's too difficult for me to control my intake if I have it around. On the other hand, I really enjoy having a glass of wine after dinner in the evening and have…

I prefer them separate, rather than together, but my absolute favorite is roasted cauliflower, followed by roasted broccoli.

I was pretty sure you weren't serious, but I know some people that were legitimately confused by the "other white meat" thing. I had me some bacon today! Romaine salad with apples, 2 slices of crumbled bacon, and a scant sprinkling of blue cheese in a balsamic vinaigrette. Bacon is a GOOD thing.

Most recipes way overstate the amount needed. I don't ever saute in more than a tablespoon of oil, no matter what I'm cooking. Obviously if I were making french fries that would be a problem, but apart from deep frying, you're almost never going to notice the difference cutting the oil to a tablespoon in a recipe. Baking…

I didn't. I ate "faux" food: fast food and processed food: frozen pot pies, jarred spaghetti sauce over white pasta, etc. There were times I ate every single meal out for weeks.

If you read the back of your Splenda package, it should say that they don't recommend substituting it for more than half the sugar in a baking recipe. I don't know for sure whether this would be the cause of the unpleasant color, but it kind of makes sense: sugar caramelizes, making the muffins brown? Also, there's only…

Are you rinsing the quinoa really well before you use it? It can have a bitter or soapy taste if you don't rinse it before you cook it. OP, here's my current favorite quinoa recipe. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1313024-delicious-high-protein-veg-friendly-peanutty-quinoa-bowls

It's a red meat, like all pork products. "The other white meat" is a marketing campaign about pork's fat content, not a reflection of reality.

Shopped yesterday and I still have my list: fruits/veg: fresh strawberries plums watermelon broccoli crowns celery oranges bananas swiss chard sweet potatoes spinach (I usually also buy grape tomatoes but there was a sale last week and I still have some) meats: bacon boneless, skinless chicken breasts chicken sausage…

I would eat them if I liked them. I think it's good on a diet to have a few non-vegetable "crunchy" items you can snack on. Eat them for a few days and see how you feel. If you get an energy spike followed by a crash, you might avoid them, or if they leave you feeling hungry, you might eat them less often and eat a…

I do, not that I'm terribly concerned with the caloric value of the vegetables I eat (I tend to eat a lot of lettuce, celery, chard, and tomatoes, all of which are pretty low calorie) but because it gives me an accurate record of what I ate. That way I can see at a glance if I'm getting enough fruits and vegetables (I aim…

Sounds great. Saving!

I like to make iced green tea with a couple of peppermint teabags in the mix. Refreshing and lovely, no sweetening needed. I also love a great big Coke Zero, but I'm trying to cut those to 1 per week. Had 2 this week though.

You say you're in "great physical condition". Do you sweat a lot every day? Your body may need more salt than normal if you are really exerting yourself all the time. But I agree, ask your doctor.

I do all these, but my favorite is to steam the spinach over my pasta water for the last 90 seconds before I drain the pasta, then stir the spinach in and top it with tomato sauce. Delicious, and it means I can have a huge plate of "pasta" without a huge caloric hit.

A few months ago I stirred grated parmesan cheese into my oatmeal on a whim. It was really really good. Like a risotto, kind of. Cottage cheese topped with white onions and a little pepper. Sooo delicious. Peanut butter and pickle sandwich on whole wheat or sprouted grain bread. Yum!

I think the easiest and simplest is just to take a lunch sized portion out of whatever you made for dinner the night before and put it in the fridge before you serve dinner. Instant lunch. Or if you made a traditional "meat and two sides" dinner, just cook an extra piece of whatever you cooked and serve it on a giant salad…

1/2 cup dry oatmeal (old fashioned rolled oats) 1 cup frozen berries 1 banana 1 cup lowfat milk or almond milk Puree oatmeal until you have oat dust. Add milk, berries, and banana, Stir and blend well. Serves 2.

I agree with everyone else, and also want to point out that not knowing how much you ate isn't a big problem either. You shouldn't starve yourself to make up for those calories, the point of logging is to hold ourselves accountable and get a realistic picture of what we're eating. So make your most educated guess, log what…

I love low sodium V-8, but not as a replacement for lots of whole fruits and vegetables. In general, I would say that occasionally using it in place of a vegetable serving is fine, but it shouldn't be a regular replacement. I drink one every couple of days because it makes me happy, not as one of my veggies. As others have…

Boredom is a big thing for me too. I find especially in the evenings it's easy to munch, especially when the TV is on and it seems like every other ad is for food! What works best for me is keeping my hands busy...do you knit/sew/crochet? Scrapbook? Play an instrument? Play X-box? Something that allows you to express…

I'm not an expert by any means, but there are plenty of high calorie foods that are healthy. You don't mention your dietary guidelines but personally, I consider eggs, avocados, nuts (as long as they aren't sweetened, like honey roasted peanuts or otherwise over processed) , peanut butter, almond butter, coconut milk,…

Yep, this was me. But I'm trying to reform. I'm on my third straight week of 1 diet cola per week. I try to limit the artificial sweeteners, but I still have 32 oz of sparkling flavored water with Splenda during the day when I'm at work. The rest of the time I drink straight water, around 10-12 cups per day, 2 cups of…

Very interesting. My first impression is that you're a bit nutrient light. I just can't imagine that you're getting enough servings of fruits and/or veg, in a variety of colors, per day on your plan. You didn't ask for advice, but I want to offer the thought that it's not JUST about calories. It seems like you're eating at…

Stuffed French Toast Sundaes! In my experience, even people who hate most vegetables don't mind them prepared as soups. Here are a few suggestions: Chipotle Tomato Soup http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/roasted_tomato_soup_with_chipotle/ Curried Pumpkin Soup (I omit the heavy cream and cut the honey and butter in half and it's still just lovely.)…
