  • You don't need to define "facetious" to me LaJuana, MUCH less if you can't even spell it right yourself :( and WTH does have ANYTHING to do with the posts you quoted? I fail to see where you made a pertinent reference.
  • Apples & oranges princess. I didn't exactly say that I was turning my nose up at the person with cerebal palsy on a wheelchair lift getting in and out of their van, now was I? Having a healthy pregnancy and strong history of precipitous labor in itself doesn't make me a handicapped parking candidate in the first place. All…
  • I didn't read the whole thread, but just wanted to share my experience. When my oldest was 15mo, his dad did what amounted to legal kidnapping (filed for SOLE custody as a resident of our state, said he was going to visit his mom in FL with our son, had me served after he fled the state, falsely filed a second case once he…
  • State-funded health care isn't the only variable here. State-funded health care doesn't control the prominence of fast food restaurants or items in the grocery store with a shelf-life worthy of a nuclear survival pantry. State-funded health care doesn't have any sway in neighborhood planning conducive to walking becoming a…
  • As much as I'd LOOOOOOOOOVE a good challenge; I'm going to regretfully forfeit :( In about 20 days from now, a surgeon is going to be literally ripping my chest wall apart and inserting some, uh... silicone "enhancements". Doesn't stop me from giving it my all in the meantime though, lol. They say in 6-8 weeks I'll have no…
  • *gives sad puppy face, pulls your head to her chest an begins stroking your hair* Oh you poor, POOR thing! Bless your heart. (LMFAO)
  • Hmmm. All these MORBIDITY and MORTALITY studies being thrown about... Ok, so you might live a bit longer; how's that QUALITY of life treating you? I mean really? Make less $ than your lighter weight coworkers? Last time you were allowed on an amusement park ride with your kids? How fun is it to get dressed in the morning?…
  • Whoa... just for the record, I never compared obese kids to meth-heads. Lol... Something like that would get this thread shut down quicker than one can blink. I'm just recognizing that kids egos are a bit more fragile and less developed than an adult's and that most kids haven't recognized the need for tact, so childhood…
  • Is it odd I would say it doesn't effect me (military health insurance) and I don't care, but it bothers me if they are parents and passing their bad habits onto their kids? For some reason that has me biting my lip with worry. It's one thing to be an adult and come to terms with your situation, but it's another to put a…
  • Hmmm. My core is pretty tight; skin... now skin is a WHOLE other ball of wax!
  • sufikitkat: your wrist issue sounds similar to my elbow issue. It's just a strength thing we gotta build up. MrBrown72 suggested earlier in the thread to rely on the assisted pullup machine to correct it over time :) But yeah, I get your meaning; when I was little and used to take gymnastics the instructors told my parents…
  • I'm a SAHM and my husband paid for my annual membership at 24hr Fitness so I use the KidsClub there. I don't really have an excuse to NOT have the time! I go first thing in the morning after the little one wakes up (sometime between 9 & 10:30am, I know, I know, I'm lucky!) and get in at least 45min-1.5hrs before the…
  • Wow! I leave for a little bit and the ovaries show up in force... YAY! Sounds like I'm right on track :D Foodfight247: Don't ever ever be self-conscious of strength training questions. Most guys assume we know nothing, so the fact you know enough to ask a question impresses the hell outta them. When you do ever get around…
  • It's using your legs in a kick motion to give you momentum upward. Kinda like a vertical breakdancing inchworm.
  • From one chick to another: pushups DEFINITELY helped me get ready to try pull-ups again! If you're still doing them on your knees, try 'em on your toes with a wide stance... then get those toes closer and closer so you use more of your core for balance. Weights, weights & more weights! I like to do splitsets of "21s" with…
  • Uh, the only guys at mine who even approach the cable tower bar are the freakazoids who do like a million crazy-*kitten* modifications that appear way harder than a standard pullup :( I mean, they all look like MMA fighters with insane obliques. The guys you're talking about I only see on the bar when it was obviously the…
  • Will have to see about those Craigslist listings. Thanks for saving me $ on the doorframe options. *Swoon* SOoO wish I could manage the one-handed push-ups! Hubs was trying to show me how the other day for sh!ts & giggles (not that he can do them either, just tried to illustrate the mechanics), but I have the hardest time…
  • I found better range of motion on toe/full pushups by having my feet shoulder-width apart instead of together. Toes together requires a bit more balance, so shoulder-width is a good in-between the knee pushups and toes-together ones.
  • Wow! Kipping "helps"?!? Guess I'll have to invest in a doorway pullup bar at home just for that... there's NO WAY I want to give the gym audience the satisfaction of seeing chick kips.
  • I'll check those out (along with the "negatives" previous poster mentioned and the "pyramids" by hubby just suggested) Uh, I have a mental block against "kipping" though; male Marines got hazed for that, lol (not to mention they didn't count). Thanks for everyone's input so far! No dice on the estrogen though :(
  • It's that kinda response that might explain why I get a feeling that's why the guys look at me like I broke some kinda bro-code just for trying. The looks are pretty similar to when I'd try to do the calf-raise machine before I found the release handle under the seat *DOH!* (lmao).
  • Sarah-Your March for Babies walk sounds like fun! Stay cool! Heather-I'll HAVE to try those veggie sticks! Sounds like something hubby wouldn't touch with a 10ft pole! Lol. They're certain to last longer than PopChips :) Just checking in. I didn't "workout" per-se yesterday because 1.) I was SOoOo sore from all the stuff…
  • This is why I weigh-in every day. Otherwise I find myself avoiding salt, fasting, or other not so healthy stuff the day before a big "weigh-in", then I get stuck going to more and more extremes to keep getting good results. I understand some can't weigh-in daily simply due to the mental aspect. I just take my lowest weight…
  • Here's a little challenge! What are a few of everyone's guilt-free sweet & salty snacks? Maybe we can get good ideas from other's... Mine are: Coffee Ice Cream (usually only 100-110 calories per 1/2cup) Dove Dark Chocolate (I stick them in the freezer and suck on them like hard candy so they last a loooong time. Dark…
  • Yeah, that sounds right. Except that doesn't explain the satellite issue in the original article. I'm just gunna hush up and plead the blonde thing. Lmao
  • Crap... Contradiction: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/12/23/science/q-a-altitude-and-weight.html
  • You'll "gain weight" up here. More earth beneath you = stronger gravitational pull. The article says the satellite gets pulled closer to the earth when it passes over the Alps, etc. and that's how they measure the pull. Edited to add that this threw my spouse for a loop because he always thought gravity was less here…
  • I can't wait to go to sea level and weigh myself now! Not to mention shave a sizable chunk off my run time; the extra O2 makes us instant Wonder Women... once we get over that "drowning" feeling as soon as we hop off the plane into some real humidity, lol!
  • Great, so because I'm a mile high I'm not as much of a cow? Sweeeeet.
