People need to learn to take context into consideration. Look, there's clearly some holes in the information, but the OP knows that and has acknowledged it. I don't see any point in people harping on that. I'm all for positive reinforcement whenever possible and instead, I see people beleaguering the shortfalls (which are…

Found it.. yay, that was easy. I did not keep the source though... I'm sure it can be easily found though if someone wants to by cross-reference key terms and names. ************************************* If you exercise too hard during a workout, your body will burn less fat than if you move at a slower pace. At least…

I actually recently found an article that corroborates that a more intense workout does indeed have a much higher impact on fat burning outcomes. I think I still have *some* of that information around - I'll see if I can find it and I'll post it if I do. Unfortunately, I don't think I kept the source... I'm not sure though.

Not to mention that the body metabolizes calories in other ways than just fat stores. Calories does not equate to fat. I'm not sure where that assumption is coming from. I think this is great information! I am curious to have MORE - but as stand alone, I find it very beneficial! It's kind of an order of processes. "here's…

Freedom Writers. told ya' I'm a nerd.

So - no time to read the whole thread so in part, bumping. On the whole "I can't" thing in regards to counting calories, I said the exact same thing. I thought it was going to be super complicated, hard, a pain in the *kitten*, blah blah blah. I don't think people who are afraid of that kind of committment to begin with…

What sos said!!! And I'm gonna' go ahead and bet that you're hotter anyway and watch where they are at our age and after kids!

There's an adjustment period. Give it about a month-6 weeks.

I'm wondering as well. My poor tuckus needs a crane!

Phera: Just go to "my topics" - it lists the most recent threads you've replied to. Cals in: 800 Cals out: 87 (big whoop) Time: 15 minutes: running in place, jumping jacks, jump rope, sits ups, planks, thrusts Water: I didn't track so well today - I think about 4. Not so great.

Today, Thursday 2/24/2011 Net cals in: 1012 (off by 62) Cals burnt: 250 (off by 250) Water: still drinking but so far, 10 cups (whoohoo!! Over!! YAY!) One of the reasons I want to get to a 500 burn ability is so that I can more or less eat what I want and know I can work it off. Right now, the numbers are far too close and…

There's always room for marginal error, especially when measuring yourself. Depending on what kind of workouts you're doing, how long and what kind of shape you were in before, yeah - this is possible. Totally. :-) But if you're really skeptical, measure again a week just to see what, if anything, changes. Or even over the…

Zumba - totally. Lots of fun and does NOT feel like a workout. You can get DVD's or video game versions and even on your own it's a blast.

Brittany, Sounds like you got alot on your plate right now. Personally, if you're *really* running around that much, I'd suggest focusing on getting in a proper diet first. That's going to be key. You'll get your routine down at some point and then it'll be easier to figure out when to fit in the workouts. I've been…

There ya' go! So your daily goal, it sounds like, is to burn 500 a day, Phera? Is that right?
-
Oh man, that's Type A to a fault! LOL Welcome aboard, Phera! Can you break it down to daily goals? It doesn't matter if they're pre-mapped. I'm not interested in having anyone modify or restructure their goals - just to help those who want to participate to reach them and see for ourselves what we are accomplishing. :-)…

Reread. No where did I say nor imply that it was okay to make assumptions, even about oneself. The difference lies in who's business it is, not its acceptability rate. And either way you cut it, 870 or 1144, that still means less than 1200 and that at best, I won't gain - but I certainly won't lose either. Which also means…

Oh you're in a diff. time zone, aren't you clio? Okay.. tomorrow for you it is. Today: drink 8 (min), End day on EIGHT (yes, 8) 50. Burn min. 500 (USING MY HRM!) We check in AFTER we hit our end of day on our food logs (or before we start the next A.M.) Feel free to do a daily or weekly weigh in, but that part isn't…

1370 (BMR) -500 (Less daily cals) = 870 +274 (2% of BMR for sedentary) = 1144 (Maintenance). AND I know my body AND I've been doing this for a year, going every which way AND, most importantly - I know my body. I knew this BEFORE I ever came here. It was HERE that had me question myself and second guess what I already knew…

That is ASSUMING that 1200 should be her goal, which is my point. Everyone espouses the 1200 number and it's the minimum that MFP allows - which is understandable and probably true for *most* people. But let me tell you that there is absolutely no end to the frustration when what *everyone knows* just happens to be wrong.…

I have to say... BULL. For some of us anyway. :-) Someone on my friends list posted this link and it confirmed everything I've naturally known about myself - so I'll recommend it for you. It's a bit more precise than a generic number. http://weightloss.about.com/od/eatsmart/a/blcalintake.htm Although everyone here is…

OMG - that's so funny!! I made a joke about attorneys and the only one to respond IS an attorney! I LOVE IT!!!!! :drinker:  I looked to see if your location was posted before I responded with ... Today? lol.... My goal really is to end my day on 950 and to burn at least 500 cals a day - which means my total intake…

One post I saw was interesting, but was too intimidating for me to want to join that particular group; where they have a weekly calorie burn challenge. I like the IDEA - but not at 10,000 a week!! lol I don't have enough TIME to burn that much! But I am trying to work my way up to an hour of workouts a day (30 Zumba, 30…

We all have our stops. It's good that you're recognizing yours and seeing them in black & white. Maybe this will help you determine a course of action. :-) Where there's a will, there's a way.

I graduate with my M.Ed. in August and have close to the same goals. :-)

So.. this sounds like a friction problem? I'm trying to think - not having used a rowing machine myself but I've got a pretty good idea of what it looks like... is it from the seat? I'm thinking the seat probably isn't molded properly and your tush is sliding when it should just be your legs and arms. Do they have a…

She sounds jealous and insecure. Although everyone here is saying alot of negative things, *maybe* if you did the opposite and offered compliments to boost HER esteem, you might something in her to be valued. Sometimes people hide behind meanness or anger to cover up pain or fear. It's where the whole concept of bullies…
