Thank you for sharing your story  What a success! Congratulations, you are doing terrific!!! :flowerforyou:

If it's a relatively short run (3-6 miles), I eat a yogurt and drink a cup of coffee. For longer runs, I add an English muffin with some natural apple spread. That's my most frequent pre-run breakfast.

I'm reading the ingredients on my peanut butter jar... Peanuts, contains 1% or less of salt. It is indeed a perfection  Eating it as is, I regret nothing.

Eyes on the prize! Imagine yourself taking that test and passing it with flying colors. Picture yourself getting accepted to the program, going to school, meeting new people, making new exciting memories, wearing that stunning uniform that fits just perfectly! Now, realize that a big part of this depends one what you…

Few yers ago I lost about 40 pounds, went from size 10 to size 2. All the girls I worked with were extremely supportive and so happy for me, except one. This lady looked at my before and after pictures and said in front of everyone "Awww... even when you were fat, you still didn't have big boobs" Fortunately, I don't…

+1 I log around 30 miles a week, and my feet are soft and pink and blisters free, just like my one year old baby niece's... Maybe slightly bigger

Specialty running shoes store. Get properly fitted shoes (as others already mentioned that  ). They might be very expensive, but worth every penny. Get non cotton socks. 95-98% polyester. Don't be afraid to try on shoes .5-1 size bigger. My black salsa stilettos are size 7.5, my long run snickers are sized 9. I…

This is awesome! And one day you will be able to run 3 miles, or 10, or 26.2! With proper training and right set of mind you can do it! When I started running, I could run for 6 minutes only...6 minutes and I was done! If I can do it, so can you :flowerforyou:
-
Congratulations! You got your PR :flowerforyou: Next thing you know you are training for a 10k, half marathon, full marathon... Running is addicting!

I recommend getting your shoes at a specialty store. I learned that lesson after numerous foot injuries :ohwell: So now I have different shoes for walking, running, weight lifting, and group exercises (such as Zumba, BodyPump). That might be a little crazy, but It still within my annual shoe allowance, according to my dear…

I cook chicken breasts on a grill, 4 to 10 pieces at a time. I just keep it in a fridge, since it's usually gone within few days  My better half is trying to gain lean mass, so chicken is a part of every other meal. Sorry, I probably wasn't very helpful :blushing:

I eat 1-1.5 hours before my morning runs. But it might be a matter of personal preference. Good luck with your race! :flowerforyou:

Give it some time, the soreness will go away. I actually muss it now. Also try a foam roller. Does magic for my gluteus and quads

Phenomenal! Congratulations on your success!!! :flowerforyou:

Advice: do not wear anything new, or do anythinng you have not done before the race. Once you finish the run, enjoy the atmosphere around you! And don't forget to tell us how it all went

I tried egg whites once. It does not cut it for me. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and I plan to enjoy it. My frequent breakfast consists of 2 slices of turkey bacon, 2 farm eggs over-easy, whole wheat English muffin, and coffee. I regret nothing! :drinker:

I took my car for oil change the other day. When the shop manager asked me if I was going to wait there, I replied: "No thank you. I'll just run home, it's only a mile a way... And then I'll run back to pick it up, once you guys are done with it." He totally gave me that "you are such a badass" look /flex/

On a more serious note, here is a link to this summers running shoes http://www.runnersworld.com/shoe-guide/summer-2014 These are not just "cute and pretty" shoes, they are designed for running. I suggest you go to a specialty store and get a properly fitted pair of shoes. They arent cheap, but I cannot emphasize enough…

I wear Under Armour 7 inch compression shorts, love them! Have several pairs of black ones and thinking about buying other colors. If you decide to get them, make sure you try them on first. As far as bras go, I also have UA Gotta-have-it wire free bra, but I'm a b-cup, so while it's perfect for me, might not work so great…

My bad story: I once bought running shoes on sale that didn't fit right, but I got them anyway. Ran maybe 5 miles, lost 3 toe nails that same week. Couldn't run for about 10 days at all :( Never again! My good story: before my first marathon during the expo part, one vendor asked me what my goal was. I told him I wanted to…

My advice in no particular order: 1. http://www.runnersworld.com/shoe-guide/summer-2014 Invest in a nice pair of shoes at a running shoes store. Consider getting a half size bigger shoes, although store assistants should know that  Non-cotton socks is a must for me. I used to lose 3-4 toe nails every summer, this…

Running most definitely can help you lose weight. I am a living example of losing 40 pounds by doing nothing but marathon training and successfully completing it. Having said that, you still need to eat at a calorie deficit. No matter how "clean" your diet is, if the portions are too big, you will not lose weight. Good…

Hello all. I'm a 30 year old running enthusiast, have done numerous 5k, 10k, and 1 full marathon. Just recently started to add more strength training into my exercise routine, but running is my true passion :) Feel free to add me, anyone in this thread! Cheers

Here is a beginners guide to training for half-marathon ( it's from 2013, not that it really matters) http://www.runnersworld.com/getting-started/half-marathon-training-for-beginners I was actually just going through some old runners world magazines as I came across your post. There is something about getting a magazine in…
