Manufacturer serving size is bogus so I ignore it. I'm only interested data listed as: 'per 100 g'.

The UK National Health Service says: ********************************************** http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Goodfood/Pages/water-drinks.aspx the Department of Health recommends that we should drink about 1.2 litres of fluid every day. This works out to be about six 200ml or eight 150ml glasses.…

Digital food scale. It does 'add&weigh' or tare. It also does negative weighing.

Oats are calorie dense. Better to log your consumption in grams than cups.

How do you measure pumpkin (or anything else larger than a cup) in cups? Wouldn't it be easier to weigh it?

Here's a tip for people logging carefullly but progress is slow. Buy a digital food scale. Cups are the devil's measure. They're inaccurate compared to a scale.

I agree. Buy the cheapest oats you can find. It's all instant and easy. Don't pay extra to get the word 'instant' or 'easy' written on tbe box. Put bowl on the scale. Press 'zero' or 'tare' Add x grams of oats. Add boiling water from kettle. Put in microwave for 30 seconds. Job done. Try oatbran instead of oats - it's even…

A portion is whatever size you want. Who said it isn't?

Glad you got it sorted. Keep up the good work.

Yes, a very good idea, the best $20 you can spend for logging what you eat. Cups are the devil's measure. I think scales are *much easier* to use than to use cups. You don't have to weigh everything. But if you don't have a scale, you're denying yourself a choice of accurate measurement.

Take the scale. Weigh the milk. It's almost 1 gram per ml. If your scale says 157 grams, just read that as 157 ml. You'll be within 3%. http://physics.info/density/

Rice is calorie dense so it's more accurate to weigh it to avoid extra calories. Do you have a digital food scale?

Gravity varies with altitude and latitude. Go south and up.

Or use negative weighing: 1. Put the loaded food container (PB jar, butter dish, ice cream tub) on the scale. 2. Press the 'tare' button i.e. reset the numbers to zero. 3. Dispense food from the container and reweigh container. For example, if you've removed 17 grams from the container, it will say '-17 g'.

What brand is it? If it's listed on their website, somebody might be able to help if you post a link.

For the cereal-oholics: Q1. Have you tried porridge or oat bran? It's a great filler. Q2. Have you got a digital food scale? Use weight, not volume, for calorie dense foods. It's quicker to weigh anyway.

Oatmeal. It's all instant. Don't pay extra for "Instant" in a fancy box. Buy the cheapest you can find. Use a digital food scale (not cups or scoops) to measure.

Some people create charts. We had a family chart. In fact, some scales create an electronic chart for you. One high or low value doesn't matter as long as the trend is downwards.

That's how scales behave when the battery is low. When did you last change the battery?

Yes. Cups are the devil's measure and contain invisible calories because they're not accurate. A digital food scale is one of the best things you can buy for dieting.
