My calves reduced in size when I lost weight last year. Before then my knee high boots were pretty snug even without pants tucked in. Now I can wear them with even straight leg jeans tucked in.

I measure first thing in the morning after using the bathroom. I know that my waist and belly area will increase as the day goes on from eating and drinking. I think I've heard that muscles do look more "pumped", and I'm assuming plumped, after a workout. So those may increase, too. Don't know in my case because I don't…

Didn't read all of the replies. But that is child abuse. Think about it. If a man exposed himself to a four year old we would have him thrown in jail.

It's just water. How bad was the cheat day? Couldn't have been enough to gain that in fat overnight. I had several cheat days when I I dieted last time (just started again). Like eating at buffets. They affected my weight for maybe a couple of days. Just get back on track and you should be fine. Danger of cheat…

I don't know why my ticker says I want to lose 19 lbs! Gotta fix that. :blushing: Ideally, I want to be between 110-115 (small frame).

I haven't been on MFP for months, but I thought I'd chime in with my two cents. Last year I spent about 6 months low carb and in ketosis, yet hardly ever brought my net below 35 or so. Most of the time I was between 40 and 50. I lost 28 lbs low carb. Fell off the wagon with a bite of Nutella smeared on a Hawaiian roll and…

Yes, there is such a thing. Give it a few more days and it should get much better. I've heard that for some, it can take a week or even two.

The amount of carbs you should target is really individual. It depends on you, what you are comfortable with, and what your goals are. Depending on how many carbs you were typically consuming, <100 g per day is probably sufficient to help you drop weight. However, if your goal is ketosis, you will probably need to go…

While the US Navy/military one is known to over-estimate, it should be closer to the other calculators. Mine is only 1-2% more. The thing is, you have to use the measurements it was designed for. You dont use your navel, and you dont use your widest hip measurement from a front-facing view. For your body fat to show up…

Thank you for explaining. Ok, I think I get it. But can the difference between the two be visibly apparent? I mean in the example of the 30% woman, she'd have a pretty good layer of fat over her muscles, right? Similarly, can you tell if the 27% woman has lost lean body mass? Can you really tell that she doesnt strength…

So, what is actually considered a "high" BF % to merit the term skinny-fat? Healthy range for body fat percentage in women is 21 to 32/33. Not fair to use the term to describe people who are within healthy weight, healthy BMI and healthy BF%. Then it is derogatory because you are judging someone's appearance based on your…

Sorry, if I posted this twice, I can't see my reply, but THIS! Navel is where men measure. Natural waist is higher. I have quite a high waist and didn't realize it until I did the bend test. Navel is properly part of our hip area.

I read (wish I knew where, body building.com I think) that directly exercising your waist can make it look wider/bigger. Britney Spears Syndrome the article called it. You can google it probably. I'm not sure there is anything you can really do about it, as it could be your body type (ruler).

Hate to say it, but I read that there could still be fat in there. According to that article, loose skin would feel thinner like the back of your hand. I don't know if that is what is happening with you or not, but losing more body fat could help. I have this hanging thing on my lower belly, too. It's become more prominent…

You might not have kicked yourself out. Ketone test strips only detect EXCESS ketones. So if you are using them all up, you wouldn't change color. Conversely, you can show pink but be out of ketosis. 37g is a lot to have in one sitting. You might find it is easier to get back in though.

I'm not sure I'm interpreting your question correctly, but... So you wake up at 125. You eat 3500 calories over maintenance. After dinner you weigh 128. You are asking if you can possibly weigh more than 128 the following morning? Is that correct? I'm really not sure the answer to that. In my experience, the following…

I take measurements every week and jot them down on a chart. But I calculate the changes over a month period and only record on MFP once a month. Like another poster, I like to see the effects of my cycle, bloating, etc, I only count to the closest quarter of an inch so the changes over a week are minuscule except when I…

Did you look in the diabetic testing supplies section?

Congratulations! My gyn told me the same thing--weight wasn't the issue as I wasn't that overweight (20-30 lbs), but it must have been too much for my body at the time. I lost about ten pounds and I started ovulating again. I was trying for number 2 at the time and it took me 5 years. I have PCOS. :flowerforyou: Good…

Just saw your first pic so I can compare now...your waist-hip line is definitely smoother (no creasing!), and it looks like you have less of an overhang (the part that hangs over your pants when you have them pulled down like that). If you look at the sides of that overhanging part, it is flatter than in the first picture,…

I know how you feel. I've lost about 25 and i think my belly looks the same, too. In fact, I was just whining yesterday about the unfairness of it all. However, usually I focus on the little changes and not the overall look. What it looks like as a whole IS important, but can be disheartening. So, I look at things like how…

Is it fat or the shape of your belly? I was a really skinny child and teenager and I always had a pregnant belly look. Not jiggly, just rounded and it protruded. One of my daughters took after me. She is very skinny, bordering on underweight, but has a belly that sticks out when you look at her in profile. Another thing we…

One of my daughters grows sideways before a growth spurt. I really worry about her. Just the other day she was crying because she was "fat". She was never really aware of weight until one little girl at preschool called her fat. Then she became hyper aware of the differences between her and her other siblings. I held her…

That's what I thought with regards to reproductive function, you need higher than essential body fat. Otherwise, you can stop menstruating/ovulating. Even lower than 18% can lead to hormonal imbalances that cause irregular periods.

I tried Dukan and I'm now just low carb. Dukan is prett much low fat in addition to low carbs. Some of the recommended products are actually pretty high in carbs. Imagine my shock when I read the label on nonfat yogurt! I found Atkins to be more sustainable. Even then, I'm not a big "plan" type person, so I just try to hit…
