I despise the gym. You can find me training 6pm - 9pm Monday - Friday Then 12pm - 2pm on Saturday

Look for a protein that has protein isolate listed at or near the top of the ingredients as opposed to concentrate. Also look for one that doesn't add too much more to the powder e.g. gums and colourings. You probably wont be able to avoid artificial sweeteners, so make sure that the protein you buy has the sweeteners…

I'm sorry, don't you press down on your foot when using the machine to get it and maintain motion? Surely if the foot is hurt in any way this will only aggravate it!?

This has already been linked but I don't think anyone followed the link, so here is a copy and paste of the the importnat parts of the blog: First of all--how do HRMs count calories? First thing is that HRMs do NOT measure caloric expenditure--neither directly nor indirectly. HRMs measure heart rate and that's it. They…

Similar case here. Everyone I've spoken to at the gym agrees that the machines tend to overestimate. So I only use them to track distances. As for the HRM make sure you have entered all your settings as accurately as possible i.e. height, weight, age etc etc Next, you should find the HRM and MFP are closer than the HRM and…

Pretty much spot on...if they're grunting and throwing weights around, chances are they probably aren't using very good form, or they are simply trying to show off in front of the other guys.

I've not used them, but all the articles I've read all state take it easy. Go slow because you are using muscles usually not used with the cushioning provided with normal running shoes. Also be careful when running out on the streets as these will not protect you from sharp objects (the main reason I haven't bought a pair)

Wow, great progress...good luck with your journey!

Ah fair enough... Over here I can get 25 tea bags for less than £1. So 200 tea bags will cost less than £10 I've seen tablets at about £8-10 for 100 tablets. Therefore, 200 tablets would cost between £16-£20...plus I'm not sure what strength tablets you have available to you but the ones I've seen usually state take 1-3…

My meals get smaller as the day goes on: Breakfast approx 700-900 cal Snack 1 - Fruit Snack 2 - Fruit Lunch 300-500 cal Dinner 300-400cal Ideally I would love 6 meals a day, but given my current schedule I cant do that so I'll opt for the couple of snacks instead.

I also train six days a week. My current routine is this (subject to change sooner rather than later) Mon - Legs Tues - Chest and Tris Wed - Boxing (punch bag) Thursday - Back and Bis Friday - Shoulders and abs Saturday - Boxing (sparring) Sunday rest! All days I do a minimum of 30 min cardio as well. I notice that by…

Well I've started skipping as part of my boxing routine. I've never skipped before. So I started off with a slow rope and am slowly progressing onto speed ropes. I find it challenging and really gets me sweating! I just need to find some more variations on the jumps to add into the workout. If you don't want to hit the…

This is the correct answer. But even if we ignore this, common sense dictates that regardless of if you are trying to lose weight or not you will be burning the calories sleeping, resting, working at a desk etc just to stay alive. You can't start also counting these towards your calories burnt in the day. In my opinion…

LOL! I'm just saying I like to think of my SO as my best friend, my partner, someone I can trust. And when I'm squatting a 150kg barbell, having a partner, a friend and someone you can trust is vital... I can't remember where I saw that phrase, but it tickled me and funnily enough remained with me for a long time. Since I…

Hehe not quite a puppy any more, she was 21 months yesterday! And don't let her looks fool you, she loves people, but not so much dogs!

I used to have a girlfriend once...but she couldn't spot me, so I thought what's the point!

Thank you for clearly explaining and summarizing what I was meant to say :) On topic though, seriously if you feel that they are all needed, keep at it. It is a very personal question you propose, how long is a bit of string. As I said you could probably get away with dropping a few and I doubt you'll see any difference.…

Wow...how much do you spend on supplements? That list does seem quite big. It is difficult to say if it is too many. For me, yes far too many. For someone else, no probably not too many. And for some, probably not enough. To be perfectly honest with you I think some of those are redundant: Optimum Mens Multi-Vitamin…

Whey concentrate as far as I recall is the cheapest form of whey protein to make, it isn't as refined as isolate, slower acting in the body and harder to absorb. It also contains a higher fat and lactose count as opposed to isolate protein. Also the comment about lack of BCAA's in whey isolate is not true, by nature whey…

Ah the joys of going to a male only gym, testosterone filled gym! If you're not working out you will get put in your place pretty quickly. Gym etiquette is fundamental to the workings of my gym and if you dont observe the unwritten rules and etiquette someone will make sure you are aware of them! Usually if someone is…

Check this out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orlistat Orlistat is the active ingredient in Alli. For it to work you need to change your eating patterns, and start exercising. Unfortunately it isn't a magical pill. The side effects are not pleasant though...

Check the bar packing, on my bars it clearly states that excessive consumption may lead to laxative effects.

SHBOss got to the point before me. Cardio session to get the blood pumping round to the muscles and thereby delivering the nutrients the muscles. This will help a lot. Proper warmups and cooldowns are also important, as is water consumption as your body needs to replace that which it looses.

In addition to what has already been said, try to cut the carbs out of the dinner as much as possible. They are much harder to digest by the body and at night the body is slowing down, so eat your carbs during breakfast and lunch, and as you approach dinner and bed time try to limit them.

This! If you don't loose fat around the thighs, strengthen the muscles they will not stop jiggling :( I've always had big thighs, so much so that I needed at one point to buy trousers that were 2 sizes to big for me to get my thighs to fit in them comfortably. I've lost some size since then and my last measurement put each…

I can't comment on the asthma side of things as I've never (to my knowledge) suffered from it. But regarding the breathing, one of the best bits of advice I have possibly received is: "breathe as it comes naturally to you" If that means huffing and puffing like a train so be it, if you feel that you can breathe better in…

This reply probably wont help as very much, but not all HRMs are the same. The purchase should depend on what you will be using it for. What exercises you usually do, and what features you want. Currently I've got a cheap one I picked up before a local store when out of business, I don't even know what make it is...but I'm…

Here is my take. Press start when you start your workout Press stop once your workout stops - you could wait till your heart rate drops if you really want. But to be perfectly honest with you, personally after burning approx 800cal during a workout the extra 10-50 isn't going to make much of a difference in the scheme of…

The easiest thing would be a shake of some sort ideally a shake with good carbs and whey protein will give you a bit of energy and is fairly light on the stomach. Otherwise you could try: Some fruit (banana), a couple of slices of toast and some cottage cheese Protein bar Slice of toast with peanut butter and a banana
