As far as the previous discussion about whether you do it at home or at a box - I couldn't do it at home or at a regular gym. Some WOD's yeah because they're body only but I enjoy being at the box. There's an extra set of eyes watching you to make sure you're doing it right ... and I like being around other people with the…

Depends on what's under the hood ... =)

First, if your gym has a trainer, I would maybe try consulting them - see if they can give you some pointers/examples of machines or body weight exercises. I'm not a trainer, so keep that in mind. My two-cents would maybe try walking backwards on the treadmill with a decent incline (obviously hold the sides until you're…

It's no different then puking in a sports practice ... which has happened to myself.

Listen to 'bjohs' ... she knows her stuff. Shop on the outside perimeter of the grocery store or farmers market. Slowly try new things as well until you find what works for you. Try to cut out unneccersary things asap (candy, soda, 'white grains')

I don't think I did a formal introduction ... my bad. Samantha Harrisburg, PA 1 month =) I'm a newbie however "athlete" all my school years/self proclaimed gym-rat Nutrition plan ... is still in progress. But healthy/clean as I can get CrossFit717 (my coach wants me to push for the games, which is a hefty goal) Look…

Cardio and eating clean. You'll hear people say "Abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym." If you do core exercises make sure you include your back Good luck!

Prepare to be covered in mud. I did it last year - and I loved it. Depending on the venue will depend on how tough some of the obstacles are. When we waded through chest deep (freezing) water over logs, the hill to climb out was nothing but mud and difficult to make it up. Also the first few obstacles, unless you sprint…

Don't calibrate it on the treadmill. Do it on a track/known distance. When I use it for running/jogging on a treadmill it's usually with in 3/10 of a mile ... outdoors within 1/10. It's a tool ... not 100% accurate.

Personal WOD (After 4 mile jog) 5 rounds (2 minute rest) 10 burpees 5 squats (25lb) sprint (25 meter) 15 box jumps (20 inch) sprint (25 meter) Then worked on push press and dead lifts

Depending on what's RX'ed for Fran it may just be chin over the bar ... to make it harder it's chest to bar. To say that CF's don't have a goal in mind ... is bizarre. Like any work out program you follow you have a goal ... in order to reach your goal you must put in the hard work and dedication. CrossFit alone isn't for…

5 total right now. 2 on my back (one large), 1 small one on my stomach, one on each foot I love them all because it was kind of a growing phase for me ... 16 years old, 18, 20, 21, and 22. Next one and probably my final unless I go all out and get a 1/2 sleeve will be around 25. I find it relaxing. I find them unique if…

Five Finger Death Punch ... Drop Kick Murphys ... I usually use Pandora and go from there.

Thanks CWC!!

Yup my cat is either put upstairs or in his crate ... he finds it fun to lay on top of me while doing sit ups ... under my chest while push ups, or jumping on my back while doing push ups. He does not like being used to do bicep curls or as a barbell for press or squats ... He could clean while I work out though.

I'm not married ... nor engaged .... however I've always felt if I question the idea of being with that one person for the rest of my life and I couldn't see it or tell myself yes I can then it was time to re-evaluate the situation. I did come close to taking the first step and I couldn't see myself with him. Forever.…

5'4 I think medium/small build 124-126 right now most of my weight is in my lower portion I think it's a reasonable goal if you're hung up on the numbers game. Would hate to see you lose muscle though ...

Major difference!!! Good job at keeping up the hard work!

Abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym. Look into high intensity interval training for your cardio. Eat clean. Core exercises should include all parts of the abdominals, obliques, and back.

Sweet addiction is like cocaine addiction ... withdrawl is the same no matter what the drug is .... I hate how good it tastes.

all her books are fun reads! I laugh out loud while running on the treadmill!

I'm training for one. 9/11/11 It's my first one. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/snkeller24 Just posted a topic about help with training.

I also wear my HRM and use it in between sets of an ab work out. Can be used as a warm up. I use it in cardio circuits as well.
-
I use a polar FT4 that has a chest strap. I love it. Hate when I forget it for the regular gym.
-
I wear my HRM for my entire session at the box. Warm ups, skill, WOD, and cool down. The other night was 97 minutes at 676 calories.

My opinion would be to start from the Week 1 and maybe do it at a faster speed ... instead of jog/walk do a run/jog. I could do a mile run and I still started at week 1.

I did it once ... not bad for newbies. Just make sure you have proper form and let the instructor know you're new. It wasn't for me but I know it's usually packed at my gym.

True you don't have to join; you can do stuff at home. But I'd def suggest maybe taking a few classes if you aren't 100% confident in some of the techniques. Depending on your local gym, you may not be able to complete a work out w/o interuption or with the proper equipment. My gym doesn't have a pull up bar, rope, boxes,…
