  • They have these packaged now. I have seen them at Target. I make my own though. The sky is the limit, sweet or savory, what ever you like. I particularly like dill with a little cayenne.
  • We all got fit bits last year. This year, we got a 1/2 session with a personal trainer and an additional $10/month discount on our gym membership. We have gotten gift cards in the past too.
  • I have read that weight loss is 80% eating at calorie deficit, 10% exercise, and 10% genetics. It stands to reason that genetics play, at the very least, a part in our body type. We inherit eye color hair color, health issues and so on.
  • LOL, you guys are cracking me up :) I don't climb the shelves at the store, but I am mighty tempted sometimes when things are on the top shelf. The clerk will ask if you found everything ok, and I will answer to myself, yeah, but I couldn't reach it.
  • It is a slide show embedded in the article. but I have read a lot about losing weight and there are quite a few articles I have read that say the same thing, no matter how the weight was lost, what program the person was on, the statistics are pretty consistent that 80% of people who lose weight, gain it back and some of…
  • There are not too many people that can eat whatever they want, regardless of their height, gender, age. We probably all know people that eat a lot more than we do and there is nothing that anyone can do about that, it is just the way it is. It is all about choices. Choose to eat more and probably gain weight, or stay…
  • I don't know if it has been brought up here or not, but you also have "active minutes" tracked on your fit bit dash board, that shows sustained activity (exercise). Getting those extra steps in, for most of us, is just icing on the cake, just striving to get our numbers up a little bit. It is a good thing, and means that…
  • http://www.webmd.com/news/breaking-news/future-of-health/?ss=2&ecd=wnl_wlw_030216#obesity-treatment-toc/advances-in-obesity-treatment It’s OK to Lose Weight Fast "You’ve heard the mantra -- to keep weight off you need to lose slowly. Not so. Researchers tracked people for a year who dropped pounds slowly vs. those who took…
  • 5'2 1/2". Age 64. I simply do not need as many calories as taller, younger people. It's just the way it is. I have lost over 1/2 of my current body weight (done under my Doctor & a dietician supervision). I am maintaining @ 1600 calories. If I go over that, I begin to gain. I lost @ between 1000-1100 calories and if you…
  • Try popping it in a plain brown paper lunch bag. 1/4 cup of kernels fold over the top microwave (it takes about 2-1/2 minutes in my microwave) listen for it to stop popping and remove the bag. No oil needed. I like it topped with parmesan grated with a micro planer or some srirachi sprinkled on it.
  • I love the multi-grain take and bake loaves of bread. I slice it about 1/2 inch thick and toast a slice. Wholly guacamole mini's spread on top. So delicious!
  • There are a lot of people that I have recommended fit bit to, I love mine. It is all good for me. I used to try to think of ways to move around that took as little movement as I could possibly get away with.............and it truly showed. Now, I never hesitate to add on steps. I actually get up @ 1:30 am to go to the gym…
  • I am on maintenance now, but I did this also. I lost over 1/2 of my current body weight. I noticed very early on, that in 10# increments of weight loss (like from 210 to 200, the top 5 pounds would come off in a "whoosh", the next 5# a lot slower. This occurred all the way down to my current weight. Very strange, but that…
  • ^^This. My weight fluctuates daily. Up to 5 pounds difference. Two pounds is nothing to worry about. Do you weigh yourself at the same time of day when you weigh? There can be a multitude of reasons for the fluctuation and it is normal. I would guess that if you weighed yourself every hour, on the hour, you would have at…
  • Zicam. It really works if you catch it early enough. At the very least it shortens the duration of the cold.
  • Great that this works for you, however, for most people, it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register that your stomach is full. And, it doesn't matter where your calories come from, your body does not differentiate what foods the calories are coming from. Maybe a little psychological thought process is involved…
  • Protein bars and raw almonds and walnuts.
  • Eating less calories than you are burning = weight loss. CICO is how you lose weight, no matter what type of weight loss diet you are on. It may be referred to by different terms, but it is CICO. Are you weighing, measuring, and recording EVERYTHING that you eat and drink. I have a ChargeHR and mainly use it to motivate me…
  • Usually 200-300 calories. I just discovered these breakfast sandwiches last week. The ones I got have, turkey sausage, also 150 calories. Really quite good, a lot of sodium though.
  • It is open 24 hours so I can go very early and be done for the day. No waiting for any equipment. Plus there are 4 locations to choose from on my way to work M-F.
  • I don't know if this has been brought up or not, but the wrist fit bits miss some steps when you are pushing a shopping cart even though you are obviously taking steps. Also, if you stop in the middle of a stair case, you do not get credit for walking up it. So what? Do you really care that an occasional wrist movement…
  • ^Totally agree with you JustMissTracy, it is really pointless, as far as I am concerned. You are only cheating yourself. But, there are people on the fit bit site that have over 2,400,000 steps for February so far. So something really doesn't add up. I don't know how anyone can get over 90,000 steps per day. I have had a…
  • Sweet memories are being made. :) I have a feeling you will be getting in a lot of steps chasing your toddler around soon. Enjoy!
  • One thing that seems to work for me, is using a cheese planer. It shaves the cheese and a serving size looks like a lot of cheese. You can use a potato peeler as well. That works really well on hard cheeses like parmesan. Eat it. Enjoy it. Log it. Change eating habits that you can maintain for a lifetime. No food off…
  • and I have been on maintenance for a little over 2 years. I looked on fit bit's site and it says that the calories burned are the total calories burned, starting @ midnight.
  • I am 64 and been on MFP for almost 4 years. I am on maintenance now. Just getting the weight off really helped my knees a lot. Not perfect (I have to face the facts, I am no longer 21), but a huge improvement so that I am able to move around a lot easier. I love my bread, and really, as with everything I eat, I cut way…
  • I have had a fit bit for 3 years. The Charge HR for a year. Honestly, I have never paid attention to the calories burned function. I have never eaten back all of my exercise calories, nor will I ever eat them back. This morning, I used the elliptical for 65 minutes, went for a walk for 40 minutes, and @ 10:17 am CST, I…
  • You can eat what you want to lose weight as long as you eat less calories than you burn. I didn't even begin to walk more until I had lost 90#. Exercise is, at most, only 20% of weight loss (some stats I have read put it at 80% calorie deficit, 10% exercise, 10% genetics), but it is pretty important for your overall…
  • I just received this email re: healthier choices for Chinese food. Here is the link if you are interested: http://weightloss.about.com/od/diningout/qt/chinese.htm?utm_content=6176138&utm_medium=email&utm_source=cn_nl&utm_campaign=livinghealthy&utm_term=bouncex3
  • We are having Chinese take out tonight too. Hubs & DD are having fried rice. I always get shrimp with steamed pea pods and broccoli, no rice. The shrimp is steamed too, no sauce, it is off their healthy menu.
