Banana's are probably my favorite fruit. I am having one for my snack tonight along with banana Greek yogurt (my new favorite flavor). Have anything your heart desires if it fits into your total calories.

Amazing dedication and perseverance! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your story. Very motivating and inspirational. Congratulations!

I have had a fit bit for 3 years. It is the single best motivator I have to move more. I also have 2 apps on my iPhone. They all come in right around the same step count at the end of the day, within a few hundred steps, so I think it is pretty accurate. Bottom line, for someone who was totally sedentary (winded going up…

Simple answer. Total commitment. When the time is right and you want it enough, you will do it. I procrastinated for years, decades really. Today is my 4 year anniversary on MFP. I am 64, have lost over 1/2 of my current body weight and been maintaining for over 2 years. I go to the gym everyday and also walk everyday.…

Chia seed are high in protein. You can put them in anything. I put them in yogurt, on salads, make chia pudding, on top of eggs. Really versatile and have no taste.

You can absolutely do this, and you are worth it! Think of it this way, a year from now you could be at your goal! It is hard to do at any age. Today, 3/12/16, is my 4th anniversary on MFP. I started at age 60, 290 #. Today, I am 130#, and have been on maintenance for over 2 years. If I can do this, trust me, anyone can.…

Strength training and yoga, along with cardio, is highly recommended for health, but not necessary for weight loss. It is up to each person to decide. Exercise is not necessary for weight loss, but extremely beneficial for overall health.

You could make the pie with a graham cracker crust, sugar free jello mixed with fat free cool whip. I make it sometimes and just put it in single serving bowls without the crust. It is yummy and very low calorie.

I find this to be true on Map my Walk as well. It gives you your speed at every mile.

Jerky (any kind) Almonds

I bought some white chocolate Dove eggs. They are quite good. I swapped out my Dove Dark Chocolate promise with caramel and sea salt last night for one of the Dove white chocolate eggs. I don't regret that decision at all (except that I liked them too much, and there is a whole candy dish full of them calling my name).…

You can lose weight without doing any exercise. Eating less calories than you burn results in weight loss. I lost 90# before I began to even walk more. Anything you can do to move more is beneficial. 10,000 steps is approximately 5 miles (I have a very short stride and need almost 12K for 5 miles, I have had a fit bit for…

Just wondering, how do you know what is too fast for someone else? I love MFP, and how it has helped me become healthier, but this is exactly what I do not like about MFP. Judging others by what some may perceive to be the correct, or incorrect, way this should be done by anyone other than your self. People you don't know,…

You can not make anyone else change. They have to want it. Best advice, discuss with your husband about getting counseling.

I am 64. I began on MFP 4 years ago, have lost over 1/2 of my current body weight, and have kept it off for over two years. Weigh, measure, and log everything that you eat and drink. Move more. I have had a fit bit for 3 years now and it is the single best tool that I have to get me to move more. Reading the success…

Peep lovers, pinterest has recipes for rice krispie treats made from peeps. You make layers with different colored peeps. Big hit with the kids last Easter.

Starburst jelly beans, original flavors in the red bag. And Easter peanut butter M & M's, the regular ones don't taste the same as the Easter ones.

Well, no one should call a food bad, or good. It is food. Overeating any food will lead to weight gains by most people, as eating less calories than you burn will lead to weight loss.

Do you get the point of this post by Diane? She put it very succinctly, something I tried to do a few posts before her. Try prefacing your posts with, "this is what works for me". It would go a long way towards avoiding these types of comments you make that may, or may not, influence those just beginning here on MFP. I am…

Perhaps just say it is bad for you and let others make their own determination. According to the NIH, more than 2 in 3 Americans are considered to be overweight or obese. That is a staggering statistic. To tell people struggling to become a healthier weight that they have to eat, or not eat, certain foods, can be an…

Of course not, but getting the excess weight off is a lot healthier than being overweight. But, there are a lot of new people here, and they buy into some of this misinformation. I did myself when I began. The first two months here (3/2012 through 5/2012) I listened to this kind of information. Then, I read a post here…

I hope you have a comfy pair of shoes to wear tonight, and some moleskin. Have a wonderful dinner & birthday!

Nope, hostile because some can eat anything, and have the self control not to overeat, not because food is either "bad" or "good", but some of us found our way to moderation, portion control and not eating more calories than we burn. In order for this to work long term, that is what has to be done to maintain.

I have had a fit bit for 3 years, been on MFP for 4 years. add me if you like www.fitbit.com/user/24WS2G

Because, there is a difference between spoiled/rancid food, that could make you ill, and food that is perfectly fine to consume if you so desire. Not good, not bad, just food you do or don't want to eat for whatever reason.

I lost a lot (160#) and have been maintaining for over 2 years. Stomach area and upper arms have tightened up some. I am fine with it though as I am 64 years old now. Not really an issue for me. Being normal weight is good enough for this old lady, but I understand how you younger folks feel, so if you can, and it will…

It is hard for me sometimes to think I will never eat the way I used to. I love being a normal size though and would not go back for anything. I do sometimes miss eating anything I want, any time I want to. So I can really relate to your post. I am sure that for some people it goes away, but so far (28 months on…

Yes, by all means freeze them. As pinggolfer said cut in portion sizes, and wrap in plastic wrap and put in a freezer zip lock bag. I still have a batch of pumpkin spice muffins in my freezer. I have 1 twice during the week.

Muscle is denser than fat and takes up less volume pound vs pound. So yes, she should take measurements to see if she has lost inches. I apologize, I misread your post. Sorry. I think the duh was uncalled for however. I am not as ignorant as you think.
