Hello my name is Kevin (a.k.a. "aweigh2go"). I have exercise routine ADHD. I can't stay focused on a workout for more than three weeks. Therefore, I do what I feel when I go to the gym. The key is to just do something. I burn, on average 600 calories in a one hour workout. I have started posting my workouts and my daily…

You may be better off either buying an inexpensive (set of manual) body fat calipers. With that, you measure certain areas of your body and you can then figure out your BF based on your actual measurements. Another option to that and underwater is the BodPod. They are becoming more and more popular. [/quote]

For protein, do I go with 1 g/lb of LEAN BODY MASS or TOTAL WEIGHT?

First, you have to know how many calories you are going to burn depending on the workout you are doing. For a week, record the number of calories you burn based on each workout. If you don't have one, I'd suggest a heart rate monitor (HRM) that tells you how many calories you burn based on your age and not an average.…

You may try logging your food into MFP for the next day as you would eat them. In other words, plan your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to see where you are with respect to calories. Then you can tweek things by increasing/decreasing serving sizes to reach your goal. This also works the next day as you know what to…

Here is an 8 week program to ease you into clean eating: http://teambeachbody.com/about/newsletters/-/nli/202#86448390

I've never done Jillian Michael's program. I'm currently doing P90X. I think the key to both of them is JUST DO SOMETHING! If you feel P90X is too much of a challenge, you should consider it a goal to complete 90 days and SEE if you look like a cocky man!

Be sure that you get one that measures Heart Rate AND calories. Some just measure HR. Also, just for grins and giggles, wear it when you do things like shovel snow or mow the lawn. You'd be surprised how many calories you may burn.

I like to mix a pound of cooked Laura's Lean Ground Beef, a can of black beans, brown rice and tomatoes together. I divide it up into equal portions and refrigerate.

I'd say your gol is too low. I'm the same height and weight and MFP calculated about 1600 calories for me based on the fact that I am sedentarty. This will get me a loss of 2 lbs per week. Now I set my own goal at 1800 based on a metabolic test I had.

Enter your weight training under "cardio". Just search for "Weight Training".

I would like to join as well. Will post vitals this evening. Did day one this morning and day 2 tonight. Should be on track tomorrow. Do we have to do all the workouts or can I substitute cardio for plyo or kenpo? Is 1800 calories the goal for everyone?

If you're just starting out, I'd suggest doing a full body routine 3X per week for about a month before progressing into a body part specific routine. Pick up a copy of Muscle & Fitness Hers or Women's Health or Abs Diet for good ideas of full body workouts.

I would consider swapping your hike for plyo. Reason being, if you are going on a hike, you need fresh legs. Kenpo comes right after "Legs & Back" and your legs may not feel like hiking on day 6!

I thought I was the only one who couldn't work out without their HRM!!! How do you get the sweaty smell out of it without damaging the transmitters though?
-
Probably not. I am doing P90X and I had to add my own. I wear a heart rate monitor that tells me my heart rate and also how many calories I burn. You can either add "Insanity" for your exercise or you can get specific and use "Insanity - Cardio". Then you just have to enter your duration and calories.

I've heard that the estimate is 600 calories per workout.
