haha yeah I got that...obviously you won't get laid just because of your car, but picking up a date in a convertible instead of a golf would definitely help you on your way

The GTI V4 turbo goes 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds with the DSG automatic transmission, I think it has 230 bhp. The Mustang V6 takes about 5.1 seconds with 305 bhp. The Mustang's acceleration is very linear (you feel pretty constant torque from 0-60), while the GTI's is a bit slower 0-30, but very fast 30-60. The DSG is also…

There's some snow where I live (Northern VA). But not enough to seriously influence a car purchase...it snows like 6 inches in the year, maybe. Also my area is quite safe. The GTI would be better int he snow (it's front wheel drive). But again, weather isn't that serious a consideration

um it sounds like you made a pretty arbitrary assumption (that the guy was only interested in "meaningless sex") and cancelled/lied without giving him a fair chance. Not all guys are *kitten*, just like it's unfair for me to assume all women are *****es. I for one always offer to pick up and drop off my date. Successful…

I wanna have my cake and eat it too.

in my experience running is the best way to shed unwanted body fat. If you can sustain a steady pace for long periods of time, the pounds will melt right off. It is better to go slow and steady on a regular basis to build up your speed and stamina (run at aerobic threshold, about 60% of your max heart rate), rather than…

That is certainly the case...it is more true for certain cardio exercises though. I learned the following from personal experience: Distance running burns your upper body muscle like crazy...if you do muscle training it will for the most part keep your muscle from being burned, but it will not build muscle if you are…

Just stick to the goals established by your MFP settings and you should be fine...certainly worked for me

very useful. Thanks!

put me down for 500

hmm, alright...Don't want to get too bulky though as I'm pretty short for a guy.
-
Welcome! Just know that you can do it...if you clean up your diet and try to get just 30 minutes of exercise in per day, you will see remarkable improvements. You can do it!
-
Cool, welcome! I'm a veg too, although I don't eat enough carbs... actually have a bit too much protein in my diet haha.

My neck muscles and tendons all became visible after I lost 20 lbs, they however did not become any more visible after losing the next 20, so I wouldn't worry too much. Edit: they're only really visible when I look up, not otherwise.

as far as a workout it's the same thing...but biking for real is soooo much more fun, it makes your workout something to look forward to. I'd say buy a real bike (preferrably a road bike), and put a computer on it to monitor your speed/distance, put the sensor on the back wheel so you can use it with a trainer indoors if…

biking is the best leg workout...if stay on a high gear and make sure you pump hard with every pedal. I never use weight training for my legs...and they're still jacked and toned because of all the biking I do.

haha, awesome.

I'm overshooting my protein macro everyday to ensure I don't lose muscle...but I am usually way under on my fat macros (log says I should get 40-60g depending on exercise, I usually don't go above 30). I also only eat complex carbs, so my sugar macro is usually below 20 (eat some low GI fruits), but I don't think that's a…

drink your water people!

If I do upper body muscle training every other day...will this build muscle or just keep me from losing what little I have?
-
And thanks bloodstar, that was actually a very helpful article...It seems that it doesn't matter too much whether I'm burning calories from fat or carbs, simply that I am burning calories. Still not sure how I should go about revising/diversifying my fitness regimen, but I'm going to have to to get over this plateau...…

Good news...thanks Sleepy! I don't use the age charts for a MHR calculation...201 is just the highest my HRM has ever gone during a workout. I'll keep doing what I'm doing...and you're right, I'd prefer to improve my overall fitness and become stronger, rather than simply burn fat.

I'm not familiar with the program...but after taking a look at it I couldn't agree more, 3x a week doesn't seem like much...I think you might be able to attain your 5k goal quicker if you up the training, just make sure you stay safe and listen to your body. I was able to hit the 5k mark in less than a month, this was back…

In addition to looking good, I want a resting heart rate of 35 bpm, like Lance Armstrong...and I'm getting there (43 bpm as of this morning!)

Coming from a man, the size 0-2 skin and bones look is not nearly as attractive as a fit woman who looks healthy enough to keep up with me.

I did yoga once, and I was very happy with the results (1 hour, all stretches, nothing too strenuous, 10 minute meditation at the end) On the drive home I felt very calm and collected, but I felt as though I had lost some of my "fire" and aggression, which is good and bad. My mood returned to normal later that evening. The…

Thanks for the very helpful posts dracobaby and tempi... yesterday I ran 8 miles after doing insanity cardio power & resistance, I woke up this morning feeling wrecked (sore in all the wrong places haha)...I don't think I'll be doing that again, but it's nice to know that I can and not interfere with the insanity program.…
