"If it was easy to lose weight, everyone could do it"... words i live by in a time of weakness!!

Not sure if you are in a rush for the weight loss, but over the years i think that when i did diet AND exercise at the same time, i was settingmyself up for failure b/c it was too much of a shock to my lifestyle. In 2010, i focused on exercise and the goal at the end of the year was to have exercise be part of my normal…

how long ago did your friend do this & did she keep the weight off? Typically these diets are too short a time frame to form any longstanding habits & the weight comes back. I would recommend instead of doing a '17 day diet'... why not just wean yourself slowly off carbs? I'm just asking.... LOL

no specific exercise... just lose the weight... ;(

doing it on your knees isn't as helpful for your core. i did them on my knees for years with no problem & my personal trainer said "no more!" and has recommended i work on doing them on an incline instead. stairs are good to work yourself lower to the ground. make sure to bring your chest all the way down b/c those muscles…

it's hard to do a program that is strict like this if exercising & watching what you eat isn't part of your lifestyle arleady. don't get discouraged if it's a struggle to stay on task. I've done the insanity dvd's just as a fill in for cardio when i'm at home & can't get my workout during lunch. It's an AWESOME cardio dvd!

i wouldn't count natural sugars.... just stay away from added sugar. typically 'low fat' means added sugar and the fat you are saving isn't that much anyway
-
when i was stuck at 180, my trainer had me cut down on my carbs. just because you are under your calories doesn't mean it's OK to eat. certain foods mess w/your body more (ie:alcohol)....
-
Have it & LOVE LOVE LOVE it.... i also do the Insanity dvd's b/c they also have amazing cardio. w/in 2 minutes of starting the circuits, you'll be out of breath. work your way up to the 5lb weights... but it took me awhile to get to that point. it will help you burn calories but also tones... you need to do both so…

burned calories are burned calories...i do the same thing & log whatever my heart monitor tells me i've burned

Stir-fry vegetables (Costco) with 10 huge shrimp (Costco)... Tortilla crusted tilapia (Costco) over Stir-Fry Vegetables 2 Carmelized onion chicken burgers (no bun and from Costco) if you need to 'pig' out... just load up the vege's with some soy sauce mixed w/honey, ginger, etc.

it depends on what your diet it. my trainer wants me to have tons of protein. he says mix protein & fat, protein & carbs...never carbs & fat. so the more protein the better.
-
the only issue w/running a lot... per my trainer... is that you lose muscle mass so i agree w/you to add strength training. I know p90x but the program is strict. Insanity is awesome, but it's cardio which you don't want. I like Jillians No More Trouble Zones... it has a lot or weight movements & you'll feel the results. I…

get rid of the crap food in your house, think of something healthy that you consider a 'treat' & get it into your house... and go to bed earlier! there has to be some healthier snacks... celery & peanut butter.... microwave popcorn... something that there are a lot of so it takes you longer to eat them... sliced red…

i do an english muffin (they have low calorie ones), soy sausage patty with a slice of cheddar cheese & make into a sandwich. greek yogurt w/berries & a glob of flax seed meal

LOL, i actually think it's quite sad how the food industry pulls the wool over everyone's eyes. almost every itme with 'low fat' has increased carbs due to added sugar. not all fat is bad & sometimes the savings isn't worth it. "Nature Valley" granola bar has hydrogenated oil!! i teach my kids that the more it looks like…

i mix in mandarin oranges (drained), dried cranberries and/or raw unsalted almonds

what you are doing is typical of anyone on a temporary change in diet to lose weight. if you really want to lose the weight, you have to realize this is a lifelong change... permanent. get rid of the crap in your house so you always have staples to fall back on for what you don't have time to 'plan' & need something quick.…

LOL, I eat almost the same foods and was doing Jillian's workouts... I was at a block & here is what i'd recommend based on what my trainer had me do... lower your refined carbs (rice, bread, pasta) and swap a workout or two with simple cardio instead of weight training. it doesn't sound like you are eating a lot of carbs,…

It's a characteristic of having too much protein so check that, you need to drink water - which is sounds like you are, and eat more fiber & natural foods vs processed foods. take fiber bills w/your meals.
-
The Insanity DVD series uses no weights so you can easily do that anywhere you can watch a DVD... it's amazing for cardio & if you can do 75% of it, which i do, you are probably burning at leat 460 calories. or carry some resistence bands w/you b/c they travel well also.

if you are eating 3 300 calories meals plus snacks, i don't see how you could be eating less than 1200 calories. you shouldn't be skipping meals. the other issues is that you are not entering all your foods. You need to eat about 1200 calories a day for your body to avoid going into starvation mode & hoarding all the…

it depends on what carbs you'll be giving up... the processed ones should make you feel better by not eating them (pasta bread, etc)... You also have to acknowledge that this is your new way of eating,,, forever... or you'll gain the weight back. You can add in some carbs, but you can never eat the way you use to again or…

you can easily do both. go on the treadmill & run / walk fast for 30 seconds, get your heart rate up there, then jump off, do some lifting, then get back on the treadmill. My trainer has us do circuits like that.. 30 seconds on the treadmill running on a 10 incline, then hop off for 15 secnod break & do weights for 30…

it has to be the food you are eating. just b/c you are w/in your calories, doesn't mean that you'll always lose. are you cutting out alcohol, bread, pasta, sugary foods?
-
it woudl work if you didn't care if you couldn't enjoy things you like to do w/your spouse. if you like to do yyour own thing & they do their own thing, then you'd be good. i think a couple should be able to share the things they enjoy with the other person. i'd say no

at your highest heart rate, typically you'd burn about 450 calories in 60 minutes... you could do up to 600 in 60 minutes, but would have to be dying & completely out of breath. when i do my bootcamp after 60 min my heart rate monitor says about 470-500 calories. i doubt youd'do double that swimming
