This is such a great resource. I have felt so alone in this struggle for so long. I feel like no one around me really understands at all. The whole attitude of "eat less exercise more" is very dismissive of the struggle that we face. I come from a family where my father was constantly fat shaming. It drove my mother nuts…

I weigh food if I am home and annoy my husband with information like, "honey, did you realize this was one serving on cottage cheese?" And I show him the small dish of cottage cheese I just measured out. My 9 year old has started measuring out a serving size of snacks. At least I know the good habits are rubbing off

Yep, low carb for me too due to insulin resistance and I miss potatoes terribly :( I have an aunt and an uncle who are diabetic and need to inject insulin. I realized that if I didn't start controlling the carbs and sugars I was headed there. I feel really defensive and frustrated when people call low carb a fad diet. But…

I take the extended release topomax (Trokendi) and it does help with my migraines. My neurologist is lowering my dose from 50 to 25 and is added a new medication in today. At this point we are just trying to find a situation where the side effects and migraines are tolerable. It definitely is helping and switching from 100…

No, I don't think anyone place is necessarily trying to swindle us. I think they are, for the most part, just as confused with all of the women's sizing issues as we are!

They have good sales too :). Amen to a good fitting bra. I felt so much better and it made me look 15 lbs lighter too. For me, there are no inexpensive bras. I just watch for sales. Most places don't even carry my size. I have to go to Dillard's or Nordstrom and they are so expensive. There never seems to be much variety.…

They did this to me too. They measured me at a 38 DD when I'm really a 34-36 F-G depending on the bra. Weird... Also, what's with measuring under the armpits? That makes no sense. That would work for some but it completely would depend on your build. Edited for spelling.

I have the opposite problem. And it isn't any easier believe me! Victoria's Secret always tries to tell me I'm a 38 (cup size whatever their largest is at the time... They never fit.) Try herroom.com. I have had good luck following their method. (I hope I can post a link to a commercial site.) I've also had good luck at…

This is really good advice!

I can't see your log, but cutting out the sugar from my diet has helped me a lot. I'm insulin resistant so when I say no sugar I mean no more than 7 or 8 sugars every 2 hours. I'm not perfect of course but no sodas or junk food. It's not easy but I feel so much better. I'm not having huge sugar crashes throughout the day…

We were going to get take out from a local chain taco shop that happened to list nutritional info online. I was going to get a salad. Without the dressing, it had 1100 calories and 115% saturated fat for the day. Nothing else was any better. I went to the grocery store instead feeling sorry for myself :( I know you are…

I'm new too :)

Thank you, I needed that. Hilarious.

Congratulations on your decision. Feel free to friend me. I am 41 with PCOS so I know the battle you are going through. Keep at it. You can get it under control.

I'm from PA, just outside of Erie. Live in TX now.

It was the fertility issues that got me diagnosed, finally! No fun at all. I hope you start feeling better.

I think what is adequate is individual. I started eating more protein because I have to be careful about a low carb high fat diet due to another issue. The calories have to come from somewhere.

I am 41 and have PCOS that went undiagnosed for years! It led to a lot of problems so I am glad you found out so young. If you have questions about the PCOS or anything else feel free to ask. My first thought is are your carbs too low? My endocrinologist told me to try South Beach Diet and they don't keep carbs that low…

When I make it I weigh and enter each item in the "recipes" tab. It's really not as big a deal as you might think. That way you have the information for the future too. It keeps me accountable. I am insulin resistant so I have to be careful about my carbs and sugars and the accountability helps.

I'm new too. I started at the beginning of August (just on week two!) Congratulations on starting college and your decision to get yourself in better health. I'm learning too but feel free to ask if you need help.

yes. Then you will have 65 1g servings instead of 1 65g serving :)

I recommend Rodney Yee's Gaiam videos. They are pretty inexpensive on Amazon. The Yoga for beginner's is $9.59. The best place to learn is at a yoga studio where they have been trained and know how to teach yoga. It makes a difference. They help you get into the positions properly. You could always try a beginner class :)…

I really hate exercising! I hate sweating I hate being hot, yuck! Walking on the treadmill bores me, running is like torture to me! I try to do these now because my family has a strong history of heart disease, I need some cardio. Normally, I would go for a walk, but I live in the South West US and it is hot. I get an…

Maxalt really works for me too! I used to take the kind that dissolved under my tongue but it started making me more nauseous, just the association i think. (even now I feel sick thinking about it!) I tried going on amitriptyline as a preventative but I had weird side effects so my neurologist has me on trokendi xr. this…

I have horrible migraines too. Sorry, it is awful. This year has been a bad one. I finally went to the neurologist and was put on daily meds. It took a few weeks but the medicine seems to be working. I went from 2-3 a week to 1 in the last 3 weeks! It has been such a relief. I really did not want to be on a daily…

I've always been a relatively healthy eater. Mostly because I really like vegetables and fruits. I also have IBS to go along with my PCOS so fast food places are out of the question for me. This is the first time I've tried cutting out most of the carbs from my diet. I was really resistant to this idea for a very long time…

Wow! That is a terrible story.

lemons, lime, oranges & mint (I find that the lime gets bitter after a while so I don't always use it) strawberries & blueberries I have made this with basil too watermelon and basil apples and cinnamon cucumbers and lemon Mix and match. Find what works for you :) I have a friend who infuses water with essential oils and…

I am 41 and due to PCOS and endometriosis had a hysterectomy at 34. I was lucky to have been able to have one baby. The worst part for me was having so many people treat me like a hypochondriac for so many years. I would be in massive pain that acetaminophen and ibuprofen wouldn't even touch and teachers, Drs., even my…

Honestly, it isn't as easy as just eat less. I understand. My Dr. once explained it to me by comparing the hormones my body was producing to steroids. Try cutting out carbs and do count all your calories. If you eat even a bite of something put it on your list. You may find that metformin is very beneficial. This is not a…
