It sort of seems to me that fasting doesn't really fit all that well with your schedule. Why do you believe this is necessary, anyway? I would think, with a schedule like this, you would want to be waking around 9am, doing your chores, morning routine, and taking a bit of activity and then having a main meal at noon or…

Parents don't want to believe this (what I wrote above), and as a result, they often make things much harder than they really are. That was my point. Personally, what did my child eat? Whatever she wanted to. My job was done simply by providing the food. And can it be that simple? Yes, it is actually that simple. Parents…

Yes, I understand what you were saying. "pick your battles" is, in fact, not a very good approach to food because food should not be "a battle", especially with toddlers. This is my point, exactly. It is well proven that when food becomes a "battle ground" this leads statistically to towards eating disorders, and parents,…

Here is also another really good example. Let's say you were out in a park or walking on a trail with your kids. They find a bush with berries and start to pick them. You move your child away from the bush and say that these berries are not good and they can't eat them. They are in fact, poison berries. Your child might…

Your posts really surprise me. Both of them. Firstly, children simply will not starve themselves. If you present a variety of good foods to eat, they will eat them. Giving in to tantrums.... teaches.... that tantrums are effective. Children are very quick to learn what behaviors are effective.

Here's a link that might be of help to you. http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-living/childrens-health/in-depth/childrens-health/art-20044948?pg=1 In the household that I grew up in, dessert was not served and my Mother did not bake. Occasionally, ice cream was served, after supper, in the evening, from time to time.…

Wouldn't know what to give them for breakfast if sugary cereal was banned??? soft boiled egg and toast. bagel or mini-bagels and cream cheese fresh bun and sliced ham or meats cheerios toast with peanut butter and banana toast with almond butter apple sauce banana and milk or cream mashed potatoes and gravy mashed potatoes…

At 6 and 5 years old, this shouldn't be a problem, in fact. Why are the sugary cereals in your cupboard? A couple of things. Buy real food, good food, and if that's what is there, that's what's there. You are in control of this because of what you choose to buy and have in your household. Full stop. However, badgering…

The real truth is that fat comes off your body the way it wants to. So, the notion of "spot toning" is largely a myth. It sounds like you may well have an hour-glass shape, and certainly this was considered, at one time, to be the ideal of beauty.... 36"-26"-36" (or, perhaps you are a a pear shape) On the good side, the…

As I understand it, your 4 hours of "working out" consisted of walking, household activities, and stairs. This is super. Being active 4 hours out of a day is very good for you. This type of activity - activity taken in walking "in bits", chores, stairs, and such is very difficult to calculate a correct calorie burn (I…

Tuna salad sandwich - tuna, grapes, apples, celery, mayo, in a pita. And soup. Tomato, spring veggie, mushroom. Egg salad - in pita or wrap (There are countless good soup and sandwich combinations) Left overs from dinner. Chicken and mango, red onion, - on a bed of greens (arugula and spinach is great) but since you don't…

As another poster has pointed out, it depends on what you did for 4 hours, how fit you are, and how you measured this calorie burn. You might have spent 4 hours walking/hiking. You might have spent 4 hours cross country skiing. Or you might have spent 4 hours working in your garden, or even 4 hours playing golf. "work out"…
