  • I also like the caramel ones. They are good-50cals, but not at all satisfying plain so I end up eating 3-4. Nice treat but there are other 150-200 cal snacks that would be better. Having said that, some of the other ideas for putting something on them to make them more satisfying sounds good.
  • Congratulations! This was a GREAT post and very inspiring. I'm also 53, so I have no excuse not to try the C25K now....well that is when warmer weather returns.... good for you and thanks for the humor :)
  • I have similar stats-5‘2" 102. MFP gives me 1420 as maintenance and it's about right. I see other "shorties" who maintain with higher than that. Part of it could be age (53). I Set my calories at 1350 because on days I don't workout, my fitbit gives me a calorie burn of 1200ish.
  • I second the vitafusion gummies for women. I also take the gummie calcium. I need the b12 in the multi vitamin since I am a vegetarian. I should also take iron so thanks "happy feet" for the tip on not taking them together.
  • I have the fitbit one since January and I really like it. I got it on ebay for about $73. I read a lot of reviews (one was in PC Magazine), and it got really great reviews. It is tiny though so make sure you secure it INSIDE a pocket and that you know where it is before you do your laundry. I clip it inside my pocket or…
  • Nope...men are more visual....also I didn't say I lowered my standards...pretty judgmental. I said I fell in love with him for who he was (personality) not what he looked like. So thanks for saying all women are superficial.
  • I think men are just as guilty (if not worse) of this as women. In my 20's and 30's I had NO problem getting dates when I was thin, but if I had extra weight on no dates. My husband is overweight and bald, just like when I met him and I am more in love with him today than when I met him 15 years ago! Just sayin'
  • Both of these + your profile says you "know a lot about health and nutrition, so feel free to ask me anything" There is no magic. It's hard work and sometimes it sucks, but there are no short cuts....
  • Congratulations!!!! I reached my goal around my birthday too. I waited about 2 weeks and then increased my calories 50-100 calories a day every 1-2 weeks until my weight leveled off. It's not an exact science. See what MFP gives you as maintenance to give you an idea.
  • If you are traveling by car pack a cooler with healthy meals and snacks and make good choices when eating out. Use MFP to look up nutritional values. If it comes up with more than one choice, just do the best you can to choose the closest one.
  • I got my fitbit (new) on ebay for about $73 total, so you might want to check there.
  • I am 5'2" and started MFP after a 12 pound weight gain. I went from 105-117 and like you, my clothes didn't fit. In January I joined MFP and started going to the gym 4-5 times a week. It took weeks for the scale to budge! I had to set my goal at .5 per week. I actually gained a .6 the first week. Week 2 lost .3 (so still…
  • Cookie Dough 3-5 seconds in micro=yum. Tastes like a warm choc chip cookie....well close enough!
  • First of all congratulations!!! 12 pounds in 6 weeks is amazing! Second-stop beating youself up. Slips happen. Try to eat a little less the next few days and think MORE about your week total and LESS about the daily. It's a learning process and don't give up. Think long term and you will be okay.
  • I have taken both. I finally did cycling for the first time yesterday after being at my gym for over a year! Like you I was feeling too intimidated. Glad I finally did it. The instructor set me up and I went at my own pace. No pressure. No one even payed attention to me. Boot camp is always different. The instructor is…
  • Add it like you add food. Add-cardiovascular-cycling-number of minutes. I add most of my exercises that way.
  • Kashi chocolate almond and sea salt 140 calories are my favorite. Fiber one 140 calories are also good.
  • Some great breakfast ideas. I'm getting bored with mine too. This oatmeal recipe looks great. I'm going to try it! Thanks
  • Funny how no matter what you weigh people make judgments. I think it's even worse if you're skinny because I think society feels free to make comments about skinny people whereas it's un-PC to make comments about heavier people. I know no server at any restaurant I ever went to when I was heavy ever made a comment about my…
  • This is great. I live in Lancaster (30 years). Grew up in NY/NJ. The third man could have married a NY or Jersey girl and the results would have been the same. We're a feisty bunch in the northeast! This was funny! THE DIFFERENCE IF YOU MARRY A PENNSYLVANIA GIRL The first man married a woman from North Carolina. He told…
  • First of all congrats on the big loss! Your profile shows an amazingly strong and fit woman. Look at the pictures of you running and doing triathlons and any other "new" pictures you have of yourself. Now go back and look at some pictures of the old you who was heavier and had no energy. A lot of us struggle to see the…
  • You have been doing great and lost 14 pounds! Yay you! You had a really crappy day and deserve a break. Take care of yourself and your son. Tomorrow is a new day and you will get back on track. We all need a break once in a while. Give youself a day and don't stress. take care!
  • I love my fit bit one. I clip it in pants pocket or middle of bra in front. If you clip it in pocket, make sure it's on the inside so it doesn't fall off. I don't find sleep tracker accurate. It's better on sensitive setting, but only logs that you are awake if your arm is moving or you actually get up. It syncs with MFP.
  • WOW! What happened to MFP being a positive and SUPPORTIVE environment??? I'm much older and at maintenance, but happy to be supportive if you can't find a "friend" with similar goals. Edited: I type too slow on tablet! Seems like you already found some friends to be SUPPORTIVE. GOOD LUCK
  • This is such a great thread with a lot of good advice! I have been on maintenance since the end of May. I continue to log daily, it has become such a habit. I still weigh only once a week. I know if I stop doing either one of these things, I will slowly gain again. Struggling right now with maintenance now that school has…
  • If it's someone I am close to that we talk about things such as work out programs and healthy eating, then I'm okay with it. Also just a simple you look good or really fit is nice. They only time I really HATE it is when someone says "you're too skinny" "you need to eat more" "you need some protein" "eat some meat" (I'm a…
  • I was having the same problem. Switched to taking gummie vitamins at night (so I wasn't taking them on an empty stomach). Problem solved.
  • I could have written this 6 months ago! February 1st 1 week in, 1200 calories, 5 work outs a week, up .6 pounds! I was ready to quit! Weeks with little loss and ready to quit again week 5 only down 2.3. Glad I didn't quit. Eventually things started moving. Like you I didn't have much to lose and I'm a little older. I see…
  • Pure Protein-20 grams of protein 180-200 calories depending on flavor. I got a good price at BJ's.
  • I really wanted the Aria since I have the fitbit one, but the price changed my mind! It would be nice though. I couldn't justify one more weight loss/maintenance investment. I think I might see if I have an luck on ebay!
