Try mixing it with 12 oz of milk, instead of water. That adds another 12g of protein or so  Fish is a good source of protein, too. For me, the canned tuna and salmon are inexpensive and have plenty of protein. I eat them right out of the can most of the time (once or twice a week).

If I see clear risk for major injury, I'll usually step in -- for example, a couple of teenagers were doing jump-squats on some stools which were meant for such things. Okay, no problem, until they started stacking them. I said something there. (No, I don't think they were appreciative, but whatever). However, IME, a guy…

For losing weight, you just need to make sure you're eating fewer calories than your body uses. For overall health, it looks like you've got your bases covered in your food preferences. I don't really see anything problematic.

Enjoying a tasty Pepsi Max while catching up on this thread.

I heard Diet Pepsi was switching to sucralose and was all :rage: I have tended to buy whichever costs less between Diets Coke and Pepsi, but now Pepsi is going to lose my business. I actually prefer the flavor of aspartame to HCFS. That stuff's just awful :no_mouth:

Check out this thread: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/977538/halp-heavy-lifting-made-me-supah-bulky/p1 Lots of ladies there who've not only lost weight with just weights and a calorie deficit, but also have lost inches and tightened up even at a slightly higher weight. It can be very inspiring!!

I eat a fair amount of canned tuna and salmon. It's a good source of protein that isn't too expensive. I love my greek yogurt (again, protein). Canned fruit (in pear juice) is a good option for me when fresh is out of season and too expensive. We eat whole-wheat spaghetti with vegetable rich sauce (neither from scratch).…

My regular gym shirt was in the wash this morning, so I grabbed a tank top I used to use before pregnancy. I knew it was going to show every bulge, but needed something to wear. I was pleasantly surprised that it looked better than anticipated!

Here's a couple of threads that have great advice: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1235566/so-youre-new-here/p1 http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1 Also check out the Success Stories portion of the forum. Basically ... just start…

I would suggest a small calorie deficit (~250 a week) and strength training, specifically heavy lifting. There aren't any foods that are going to make or break your goals ... just be sure you're getting enough protein and staying under maintenance.

What hormones? Most milk sold now doesn't have rBST, etc.

This always comes up with these questions. No one (not even the OP's original question) has suggested eating nothing but cheesecake. Most people will advocate eating a well-balanced diet of mostly nutrient-dense food but say it's okay to have some treats, like cheesecake, if they fit into your calorie allowance. There are…

You gave a great answer! Taking the time later to talk about weight was also a good idea. Just keep talking about being healthy!! (And to all of us other moms, that's a good message too ... the whole thing.) Thanks for sharing!

I buy protein bars (usually the Balance brand, but sometimes another if they are <$1 each and have at least 10 g protein) ... I can go from just fine to must eat right now in a very short time if I'm not careful, so it's good to have one in my purse instead of buying fast food or a candy bar. I also buy a protein powder,…

You've got this, then. No need to throw away money on a product that doesn't really do anything, and which you don't need anyway!

There really isn't anything that will "burn fat" other than a calorie deficit. I would avoid any drinks that claim otherwise. Save your money. If you need help reaching macro goals, a protein shake may help, as long as it doesn't put you over your calories. Water is always good for hydration, and since it is calorie free…

My understanding is that she was an elected official, so she couldn't be "fired." I think she should have issued the licenses or resigned. The fact that she wouldn't allow the assistant clerks to issue them either suggests that resigning wasn't part of her plan (she was trying to make a statement IMO). She was ordered by a…

I could add my own as an at-home mom. My co-workers eat markers or draw on the walls, eat the dog food, and poop in their pants (erm ... diapers). But they are the cutest little boys and their hugs and kisses, even if sticky, make up for their disgusting habits. :naughty:

In a lot of underdeveloped areas of certain 3rd world countries, the plumbing will back up if one flushes toilet paper (my guess is a mix of poor plumbing and t.p. that doesn't dissolve as well as our first-world stuff), so they throw it in the wastebasket. I learned this when working at a school that had a lot of…

Yeah, I wouldn't blame an allergy if it's the next day. It could be a sensitivity, gluten or otherwise (I didn't know Luna was gluten free  ). It is hard to connect, but if it stopped when you quit the bars, it sounds logical that they are the issue. Have you tried Balance Bars or any other brand (again, I don't…

I haven't (though I usually don't use Luna brand, but another one with more protein). Do you have any allergies? If it happened as quickly as it sounds, that would be my guess. What is the time frame on the bloating?

I think we can love ourselves as we are AND want to become better/healthier/etc. In fact, I think that it's essential to be able to love ourselves regardless, otherwise we will never be satisfied with our progress. I do agree, though, that it takes awesomeness and bravery in the decision to change and fight for something…

How are you feeling after the 5x5 at 65 pounds (the bar plus 10 on each side)? If you're feeling like you're spent, then keep doing that. If you feel like you could do more, then try adding the 2s to the bar and do a set or two of 2 reps.

So ... how do you KNOW that these people think that having the diet soda will make it all better? (When I was in High School, I worked at McD's and saw this happen and thought the same thing as you. But I was a kid. Now, I realize that they may have a lot of other reasons. Like the above mentioned avoiding of sugar: at…

We looked at Wellbutrin last time I was in for depression/anxiety. My doctor opted to go with effexor instead. Otherwise I'd be able to give you my experience on that specifically. However, I've been on a couple of different medications. Some of them have effects on appetite and/or energy. But I think the effects of them…

What about aspartame is not good for you? You do know that it's simply a modified protein, right? There has been an abundance of empirical research on it. Nothing has panned out showing it be harmful in general (the exception being those with sensitivity or PKU). The articles stating all the horrors aren't backed up by any…

But it still has that nasty dihydrodgen monoxide, doesn't it? :confounded:

Try taking out the batteries for a couple of minutes. That may help it reset (then you can put the same ones back in to see if it's worked before deciding if you need new ones)

He looks like he'd rather not be there. Kind of like he's half-heartedly pretending to fly (they both kind of look like that). Did anybody else find it funny that they kept the part with the horse pooping? (Just before 4:30). Did they mean to have that there, or just not know they can edit??

Turkey Hill was on sale last week, so I picked up a cookie dough and a chocolate peanut butter. I don't know if it was because I only got one serving from the end of the carton (darn kids, lol) but I only got one bit of mix-in for the cookie dough. The ice cream was tasty, but that was a bit of a disappointment. I…
