  • I've had protein bars (simply whey/simply protein mostly, but i do love luna bars) and protein shakes during my pregnancy. I chose the ones I thought had more 'natural' ingredients. They were also a way for me to get some protein becauseI had some meat aversion during the first trimester.
  • I'm not in much pain, but I do still have some joints/tendon pain, mostly in my right hand when I wake up and I am 3 months postpartum. It's very weird. And lower back too. Apparently it's normal because the relaxin is still in your body. Like Ganzelly suggested, maybe try to see if there is another cause for the aches?…
  • You're right that there is a lot of paranoia/misconception out there. I was about 10 weeks pregnant when I met with a nurse for my first appt. She basically told me to keep going with the cardio, not to lift anything too heavy (25 pounds was too heavy for her) and also that I wouldn't want to keep dancing when I was 25…
  • Oh wow sounds delicious. I need this one as well ;)
  • I've tried a couple and I currently like Optimum Nutrition, either the natural of the 'gold standard' one and also BPI chocolate cookie is pretty good. I saw one in a key lime flavour. I must have it.
  • My goal is around 125, I usually am between 100 and 150g/day.
  • I've had a couple of people come up to me and give me advice. I am polite and will listen, but in the end, I'll do whatever I feel like is best for me. I actually only listened once to someone advice. She was a trainer, and she was also in awesome shape (and figure competitor)... and her advice did make sense ;) I know my…
  • Agree! I looooove Shock Absorber. It's made a little small though, in my experience, so I size up in the band and cup. I've also tried the Panache sport bra and I like it as well, but prefer the SA.
  • I like gloves. I use the Femme Fitale ones. I find they are the best I've tried. I've tried others but didn't like them and they seemed to affect my grip.
  • I did it about three years ago, when it came out. I liked P1 & P2, but P3 was too much for me. Too much isolation moves and I lost major muscle in P3 since there was a lot of HIIT and not a lot of carbs ;) It didn't work for me. I went back to it a couple of times but only to Phase 2 of the program and I removed a lifting…
  • I would not worry. I have two friends who were also around 200 pounds when they got pregnant and they ended up losing weight or not gaining during their pregnancies. Their doctors were fine with it because of their starting weight, my best friend was told she shouldn't actually gain any weight during her whole pregnancy…
  • I'm 31, just had a my first baby and love to lift heavy! I'm currently doing Strong Curves and a few other things on the side. I'll add you :)
  • I'm heavier the day after heavy lifting, yes. Usually about 1-2 pounds.
  • My son is 6 weeks tomorrow, feel free to add me! :)
  • I'll add you! I gave birth 5 weeks ago to my first baby... :) Any other mom feel free to add me!
  • I've noticed an increase in strength when I was taking creating. I used Con-crete & kre alkalyn. I don't remember bloating issues... I stopped when I started cutting but will be back on it once I lose the baby weight. For me, creatine = gains!
  • I wore black stretchy maternity pants to get to the hospital... and come back. With a tank top and hoodie. I had a sport bra that has some removable straps, so I could nurse if I wanted to. I did not breastfeed and only gave the baby colostrum though, so I wasn't constantly undressing... The pants were not uncomfortable, I…
  • Agreed. Also, not everyone speaks English as a first language. I'm French and have mixed the two quite often. And isn't there a thread about this 2-3x a week?!
  • Thanks!!! :) I didn't do much during the first 8 weeks of my pregnancy, I was way too exhausted and couldn't bring myself to do much. I did resume my 'normal' training around week 9-10... and until I was 36 weeks pregnant. I did have a dry easy pregnancy (no nausea etc.). I would lift weights (obviously I didn't hit any PR…
  • I guess I can answer my own question in case anyone else is wondering the same thing. I gained 25 pounds this pregnancy. I am now 6 days postpartum and I lost almost 17 pounds, doing nothing much except I started walking again 2 days ago, and stopped eating ice cream every day :) Still 8 pounds to go!
  • So the total gain for my pregnancy was 25 pounds. I did gain fast in the first/second tri and for some reason it really slowed down in the 3 trimester. I gained almost nothing in the last 2 months.
  • Hey! :) I delivered baby Justin on tuesday evening... so it's been 4 days. I was able to go to run some errands 2 days after I delivered, and today I'm planning on going on a walk. I've been doing amazingly well so far, I wouldn't go walking for hours, but I'm sure I can handle a slow 20-30 walk today. We'll see :) It's…
  • I'm due any day now, but my maintenance is usually 5'5 & 125 pounds. I can get lower at 120 pounds but I find I lose some muscle, which I do not like.
  • I add lemon as well, and will count tea towards my water intake. In the summer I love making unsweetened iced tea and could drink it all day :) I sometimes mix it with sparkling water and it's yummy.
  • Thanks!! I understand there can be some bloating and etc... maybe I'll TRY not stepping on the scale for a few days (5-7) to avoid any disappointment... we'll see ;)
  • Which Isopure flavour do you all prefer? There's a mango flavour that would probably be tasty if I made popsicles with it... yum ;)
  • I like Optimum Nutrition Natural, or MRM. The Optimum Gold Standard is also pretty good. My BF doesn't like the taste of the MRM one though. I haven't tried Isopure but would like to, eventually. I find that with some almond milk & fruits, any protein powder tastes fine though. The only one I drink with water only is the…
  • Don't worry... I also relied on carbs in my first trimester and never exercised... Eventually the weight gain slowed (a lot) once I got back to my 'normal' routine (eating & exercise).
  • I find I don't gain any weight when I go to Cuba, even if I don't work out and drink a little... The food isn't always the best, and find it hard to eat when it's too hot outside. So it helps usually... But I did gain weight when I went to Mexico though ;)
  • I usually drink a Skinny Vanilla Latte, or a tea, without sugar. The peach one is pretty good and I also like it cold. Yum! I've never eaten anything at Starbucks so I can't help! I do think they have some yogourt or fruits.
