  • Squat to parrallel ....yes. ATG....no. Probably due to one ankle joint having to be fixed with meccano when I bust it back in 2001. The metalwork has been removed but the flexibility was never totally regained. :( Also I'm getting on a bit! Never mind, I still feel it the next day in my legs.
  • Horses sweat, Men perspire ...and women just glow! So my dear Gran said. Nothing wrong with sweating. Sweat buckets....... just be nice and clear up your puddles after,OK? B)
  • I used to get impromptu nosebleeds. Either through exertion when playing lacrosse or even if I got over-excited! It would bleed very heavily and would eventually stop when the clotting mechanism did its job and many boxes of Kleenex later. Eventually my GP referred me to a ear, nose and throat surgeon who looked up my nose…
  • A cup (or two) of freshly brewed coffee. None of that instant muck! Keeping hydrated through the workout with filtered water, then after slug back a hit of whey asap.
  • Sloggi no-vpl laser cut briefs. Excellent!
  • Yep, I know that one. Token git takes every dumb bell between 4kg-20kg and arranges them around themselves so they are easily to hand :# and then fanny about on the bench having a nice little rest whilst tapping away on their phone....these people drive me up the wall and get the "Paddington Bear Stare" off me. Buy your…
  • To me the notion of a treadmill desk sounds like an accident waiting to happen...either physically by stumbling etc. to affecting the quality of your work. Maybe to have a standing desk or how about a desk where you sit on a Swiss ball? I gather these are an alternative for posture and giving you a little gentle core…
  • Every time I see a "fat person" out jogging or in the gym I salute them as Greek Gods/Goddesses in training! You go girl!!!!!! B)
  • 45 minutes swimming.....a length at a relaxed pace and then back again, hell for leather...rinse and repeat. Then steam room session with cold showers, ultimate Bliss burger and chips! B)
  • There is a saying..... "Horses sweat.....men perspire .......and women, just glow". Not in my book, several HIIT rounds on a rowing machine and I'm a mess!
  • This (in bold). At my gym the staff may have a word with people who are "undressed to impress"......this means flaunting oneself in a skimpy sports bra and/or barely there shorts/skorts or the fellas posing up in front of the mirrors with vest off. They look buff and they sure know it. Dressing appropriately is fair enough…
  • Oh absolutely! But I prefer the steam room......about 5 or 6 cycles interspersed with cold shower (I wish they had a plunge pool but I guess someone might have a cardiac event or something) ...absolute luxury going back in the hot steam! Drink plenty of water and learn to love DOM, he's a lovely chap really ;) ...stay away…
  • I squat near the end of my workout session so I'm warmed up but the old knees on some days sound like the finale of the 1812 Overture with all the cannons going off! It doesn't hurt and I just put it down to the fact that I ain't no Spring chicken anymore. :s ...........but my flexibility has improved sooooooo much!
  • WTF? People are training wearing these things? smh I suppose they are like extreme Spanx but doing a workout is crazy and dangerous. In the Victorian times women even went through pregnancy wearing this nonsense garment. Just imagine what it is doing to your internal organs. Stupid is as stupid does.
  • I use these. http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-CX-685-Adidas-Headphones/dp/B0094R4POC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420236009&sr=8-1&keywords=Sennheiser%2FAdidas+CX+685 As a live sound engineer I can testify that these work very well for a drummer I used to work with who gets seriously sweaty during live gigs. Many other…
  • .............usually round about St. Valentine's Day and then another little surge before summer holidays are taken ;)
  • You say your thyroid blood panel was OK? Have you actually seen the results or did the GP say they were "OK" or "In range". I would get the blood test results in your hand and post the results on a thyroid patient forum (just Google thyroid forums, it doesn't matter if they are in the US or UK, thyroid misdiagnosis is a…
  • "A watched kettle takes forever to boil". Absorb this information and take heed. Nothing happens overnight.
  • Haha too true. My GP went slightly pale when he did a routine liver function test and my alanine aminotransferase (ALT) was elevated to 81U/L (7.0-35.0 range). Need to do no heavies for 7 days prior to tests now.
  • I must say I do suffer from the windy pops too. Partly down to my hypothyroidism rather than windy food according to the quack. Deeply embarrassing when doing nice low goblet squats ...and....BRAP!.......furtive look around and relieved to see that other gym users have their ear-buds in! :D
  • ^^^^ this. I donated blood today and the last thing on my mind was "I wonder how much this burns off".....it's a gift for a stranger in need. Maybe one day I might need a pint or two. :o
  • Polar FT7 user here. I like it in the heart rate % mode to see how hard I'm exerting myself on my intervals. Only use it for my cardio work and used it in the pool today when I went for a "rest day" relaxing swim...worked a treat. :)
  • And muscle is more aesthetically pleasing! :)
  • That's pretty much what I do but I don't run....I'm one of those nutters that likes to do a lot of interval exertion on a treadmill, usually brisk walking on a variety of inclines without cheating by holding on as if I'm riding a mechanical bull! As long as I've got my sounds I'm happy. :D
  • Oop sorry, forgot the conversion...... Gas Mark 5 = 190°C or 375°F
  • OK these are horribly moreish....I will not be held responsible for ruining people's diets!! A little voice tells me that the oats are healthy! o:) *innocent face* In a saucepan. Melt 150g (5.5oz) of butter. 2 dsp of golden syrup. 4 dsp of runny honey. When this all melted together add 150g (5.5oz) of porridge oats. 100g…
  • Hy husband's homemade flapjacks.......with pineapple, cherry and apricot chunks in it and sprinkled with toasted almonds. I'm eating a piece right now (my excuse is that I've just done a really mega workout! ;) ).
  • I had elevated LDL and the doc threatened me with statins if I couldn't reduce the level. I flatly refuse to take statins and said to the doctor that I would reduce through exercise and dietry changes. Started cardio and lifting regimen to reduce my abdominal fat (I'm middle-aged and hypothyroid) and added daily porridge…
  • There are 4 Concept rowing machines at my gym and they are so lonely! I love this kit and use it as a warm-up; typically 2km in around 11 minutes which burns me +/-100 calories. It's actually quite relaxing in a strange way, especially if you use good form and don't snatch the movement. Great for HIIT too....at least you…
  • ^ this. Enjoy and put it down as a "cheat weekend" :) ..........nothing wrong with enjoying yourself and don't feel guilty.
