Last hours of Keto Summit free replay! My favorites from memory are: Eric Westman Troubleshooting through stalling on fat loss on keto. Catherine Crofts on why testing insulin is so important and probably should be mandatory. Chris Masterjohn on nutrient density etc. Also interesting: Luis Villasenor on fat loss, body comp…

You're possibly going in and out of ketosis without ever getting fully keto adapted? Have you tried up electrolytes? If more electrolytes don't work, try lower your carbs a bit. I can get headachy when I eat too much carbs. Good luck!

I would guess the IF and exercise contribute more to the lower FBG than 1 glass of red wine. FYI: I remembered wrong about the 2ketodudes above. It was the Australian who shook his stall. But he also cut down on nuts and did a multiple day fasting along with cutting out alcohol. So who knows what stalled him. Anyway, it…

Ty @midwesterner85 and @neohdiver for clearing things up :)

Gradually dilute OJ with sparkling water. 10%, 20% etc. Then graduate to only sparkling with some slices of orange for the taste. Reduce amount over time. Graduate to lemons or berries. If you do it slowly and deviously, maybe she won't protest so much >:) Edit: In the start I used to put some frozen berries in a big jug…

You need some fat! Or your hormones suffer and you'll be hungrier. You don't have to pile on the fat, but I've seen posted many times here and in other communities that fear of fat makes the LCHF go from "diet" to "way of eating". In other words it's more sustainable longterm. The amount of fat regulates the energy…

Maybe I misunderstood something. But when watching Jeff Keyte's medical lectures for medical students on YT on Energetics or Metabolism (I forgot which), he said the liver is the general. I took it as that the liver decides which molecules will be made out of what the intestines broke down. So I think most energy…

Welcome back :) Do you make all the gifs you post or do you magically find something suitable so fast and odten? I still haven't found out how to post an image from my cellphone, haha.

It's the same sugar road as always :# The problem as I understand it is that alcohol overwhelms the liver with jobs to do. Plus as Dr. Westman pointed out in the keto summit about stalling, alcohol has quite a good deal of calories as well, adding another energy load on top of the Doritos and Coke, or insert kebab/pizza…

You need salt and maybe some magnesium. However...adapting to fasted training is much the same as adapting to keto. About 2-3 weeks of suckup while performance is lower. THEN when you're making your body become even better at fat burning...the more you do it the better you become at it. Frankly my experience is that I can…

Alcohol (ethanol) is perceived as a poison to get rid of ASAP. Thus the liver stops making both glucose and ketones WHILE BUSY processing the alcohol, AFAIK. I suspect the duration this happens is correlated to volume of alcoholic intake. The body also stops lipolysis during alcohol influence. Cause again the body is busy…

If you consistently get tummy pain after cheese and it also drives hunger, then a 30 day experiment without it sounds like a good idea to test. Are there specific cheeses that create the pain or all of them? Dairy can be quite insulinogenic, which could possibly explain the "hunger". But I understand your sorrow in maybe…

Frankly I'm astonished that the prevalent view in nutrition assumes that the "energy required to raise water by 1°C" is somehow precisely the same as the complex biochemistry the body does when eating food, also called…

@kpk54 Excellent summary! Westman (sorry autocorrect in my post above) also mentioned as examples of keto traps: - alcohol is a big caloric intake. - various fat bombs. A lady who drank 1000 kcal in her BPC. - A Southern lady who fruit infused her water with 1 whole pineapple. In addition I think he mentioned : - that…

I really, REALLY liked Dr. Westmark podcast about stalling on keto! nutrient rich diet FTW!

Your thoughts are always welcome. Nd I agree that critical constructive thinking is very important. I watched the Walsh podcast. His argument were not very impressive...to me. We can agree to disagree on this matter Why do I think he presented a weak case? 1) He himself hasn't tried NK for more than a month, just enough…

Big difference. Good job. Keep going :)

If you're able to go 21 hours without feeling hungry, it's a good symptom of keto adaptation. It means you're running on fat as energy and enjoy elevated ketones as well. Isn't it just wonderful that feeling of freedom? :)

I'm all for of questioning, but on which grounds is he so concerned for "long term implications"? Before the human race started agriculture roughly 11k years ago, we only ate seasonal or preserved starches. So for the vast majority of human existence we have probably been in ketosis. According to D'Agostino about 20-30% of…

Try reducing dairy? Many Asian people don't eat dairy, and some claim that they also mysteriously smell less funky BO. Possible correlation ? ;) I only get Dinosaur pee, no BO or bad breath that I know of. I usually don't use any deodorant either. I think for many people these bodily changes are transitional. For a…

I agree with @Sunny_Bunny the GKI is as good as it gets ATM as a proxy for insulin levels. A warning of caution, though: We still don't know exactly what and to which degree ketones get higher for the INDIVIDUAL. We only know that eating a very lowcarb, exercise and fasting elevates ketones to different degrees. According…

I've maintained scale weight within a range of ca. 10 lbs since November 2014. My body can fluctuate up to 8 lbs with max unlucky circumstances such as TOM, exercise water weight, carb bloat, BM, water intake, fasted state etc. Personally I don't like the word "cheat". It implies it's possible to game the system (the body)…

She could try do a search in r/keto about "crohn's". It's regularly mentioned there in some way. Or she could post there and ask for tips/protocols that helped other people? Be mindful that Chron's is a complex disease and finding others with very similar symptoms as hers might be more useful. r/keto is a much bigger…

If your main goal is to lose weight, I have bad news for you concerning alcohol. The body perceives ethanol as poison. So while the body is busy metabolizing alcohol intake, it won't burn fat from storage. This is your experience. In my country people weren't snacking much up until the last decade or so. I don't see how…

Congrats! I'm so happy for your success and hopefully you'll be able to push back prediabetes! Re lack of hunger: I've seen several places recently claims that BHB ketones are appetite supressing (Keto and cancer researcher Dom D'Agostino) Well...fasting elevates ketones! I know it sounds counterintuitive: The less…

Try out more electrolytes, especially Sodium ? l usually train fasted and without enough salt, I feel "weak". YMMV and GL :)

Psyllium fiberhusk are water soluble fibers, which means you need much more water when taking them ,... or they might lead to constipation instead of helping with BM. Good luck!

@Roseygirl1 I fully agree with your sentiments. You're describing the perhaps biggest NSV of them all: Eating for your health and wellbeing beyond the diet phase is where 90 % of dieters fail. There will be pitfalls and traps along the way...but realizing it's a zigzag journey, you've already done HALF the job! I've read…

I think this article summed it up pretty well: http://breakingmuscle.com/strength-conditioning/doms-the-good-the-bad-and-what-it-really-means-to-your-training Take home points : a) Any training outside comfort zone may or may not lead to DOMS. DOMS isn't necessary for hypertrophy. b) DOMS is not caused by lactic acid, it's…
