There's a guy who wrote a book called «The Fat Switch» about how other animals use fructose as a cue to gain weight, more specifically BEARS! They gorge on salmon and berries in Canada to fatten up before hibernation. Without the fructose overdose, they maybe wouldn't be able to gain enough fat to tide over winter.…

I used to wake up with severe cramping during nights or whenever abrupt movements. I now take magnesium liberally. Very seldom cramping anymore. I think you may take too little mag, based on your OP. I take mag morning and evening and sometimes mid day, if trained hard. Ty for sharing the lab work :)

If it says «glucomannan» in ingredients it's shirataki noodles. I buy them in asian stores too, it just feels too silly getting Miracle Noodles shipped from USA. Ya, know ecology and all that jazz ;)

Usually 2 meals within 6 hrs eating window. Sometimes it's 1 GIANT meal. It all depends on mood and schedule. If I'm doing a very strenuous workout, I'll do some protein first, but often I just do some BCAA and maybe CO, then train «fasted». In general, IMO: Balance flexibility with carrying out your plan: No flexibility,…

Cinnamon does lower bg. This whole year, I have chai with extra spices: cinnamon, cardamum, ginger and cloves after meals to help body deal with the spiking. Lately, I haven't felt so much urge to have the chai, possibly cause the sensitivity is increased. I still put cinnamon into morning coffe with almond milk, since Bg…

Wow, that was a really good find! cause it gives a starting point on what to try change if very imbalanced body comp. A girl in high school...she was thin as a stick on upper body, but her booty and thighs were...enormous. Of particular note, high cortisol on midsection...stress is evil and insidious.

You have come a long way since just a couple of months ago! Look at you conquering the fear of a hunger pang. If this custom tailored IF, skipping a meal works to find your stride, do it! There are no right or wrong how you do it. Only the expectations needs to correlate with execution. Try avoid overthinking details,…

I abandoned the strength part of my KISS challenge when got injured with prolapse a couple of weeks ago. But I kept the promise of NOT weighing food. As soon as I allowed myself to write down what I ate, the nightmares of losing control vanished. In fact, I haven't felt like writing down after I made the compromise. Go…

It's ok. We all have our journeys, mistakes, NSV and whatnot! It's what keeps it interesting for me, lol. Btw, forgot to mention that since you feel better with a banana, you're possibly deficient in potassium. Avocado is good source, I'm not sure but I vaguely remember cucumber being an ok source as well. Since I do IF, I…

Agree with @Sunny_Bunny. And then you contradict yourself saying you have a tight deadline. Then next sentence you're ok with reaching your goal of specific looks regardless of timeframe. Manage your expectations. Focus on what's most important. In general, achieving a specific look you have in mind is opposite of an…

FYI: Fruits are fructose. It goes to liver and excess gets stored as liver glycogen, NOT muscle glycogen that's used for sports. Fructose also stops ketone production. Liver busy. In other words, the boost you feel from banana is possibly mostly placebo. Which can also be very powerful, up to 40% effect according to a…

@KETOGENICGURL. Yes, lol. Sorry, English is not my native language. I'm terrible with pronouns fex. Good catch! :)

Oops, I'm sorry! You're right. Ouch, didn't mean to threadjack. Well, the CO and MCT even more so provides fast energy. MCT is metabolically like keto candy. So maybe that's what you «crave»?

I think the question of beans are multifaceted. Ferriss' slowcarb has beans as a major ingredient. In one of Grant Schofield's lectures about insulinogenic foods, beans cane quite high up. But I think reaction to beans are tied to the individual's gut biome. I love beans. I make a salad with beans, tomatos, avocado, olive…

More salt. Seriously.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but somehow Asprey has been able to sprout this nonsense that BPC is fasting. 300 kcal is more than enough to chase glucagon away. One of the hormones vital for lipolysis. the body's mechanism for burning from STORED fat away. Meaning, when you have BPC easy cals, the body gets busy…

As with many things, the results usually correlates with effort regarding IF...up to a certain point. The more you water out the program, the less effect you'll see. For example, if someone has a 600 kcal BPC, they might call it «fasting», but the body still has to process those calories...less time for glucagon to work on…

I think it's more about a transition thing than carb count. I weened carbs down, but still had a lot...like 70-80-100g or so. Because was taking instructor exam and couldn't lower exercise regime. My best guess is that going in and out of NK is irritating for the poor mitochondria...or it's connected to the enzymes…

Most commercially manufactured ice creams have anti-freeze in them. Yes, it's basically the chemical they spray on airplane wings to prevent ice to build up on the plane or in engines. Yum! :o This is one article on the topic, googling.…

I had itch red rash on chest and neck during transition to FA. I never figured out what exactly caused it. It went away when fully in FA. So try wait it out, use creams or cold packs meanwhile? From my friend with a new baby, babies get rashes all the time, possibly because of the high sugar content in breastmilk. Some…

I had brittle nails and more hair loss before I went lowcarb. I think for ME, I didn't have enough fat and protein. I did a pretty hefty deficit and fasting too, so it seems to me it was a malnutrition issue, not a calorie deficit problem. YMMV.

My thoughts: Up to a certain age, kids LOVE to do stuff with their parents. Until everything parents do or say become «lame» :p I second the suggestion above to cook stuff together. You have a small window to establish the bonds now. She enjoyed running together with you in the summer, right? Use the momentum that she…

...oh, forgot to say that since started intuitive eating, I've probably done some accidental fasting. Seldom hungry lately and eat whatever, including some nice supercrunchy (doublefried) potato chips with resistant starch :*

Ty @orlcam for promiting snaps to mod! I was gonna suggest, but you're faster than me :) I have a lot of life stuff going on atm. I know I promised a write up at anniversary, but I'm not ready yet. Two injuries lately and whatnot. I've stopped weighing food this month and haven't gained so far. I can just see the slightest…

It's not for everyone. All TDEE calculators are estimates. Following those numbers blindly expecting to lose weight might disappoint you. Individual BMR varies as well. MFP adds ca 200 kcal to sedentary BMR because they assume people are moving somewhat. If you're truly sedentary, that could possibly explain the lack of…

Intense exercise induces cortisol and adrenaline hormones. Make sure to winddown properly, relax body before bed. Both fasting and exercise induce alertness to an extent. Achy, flu-ey, try more sodium and potassium. It could be atkins flu, depending on your carbohydrate intakes and carbohydrate sensitivity/intolerance on…

Interesting post! I seriously salt as much as I can physically handle...until shuddering. I try have kimchi most days, sometime I eat a whole bag of 500g in one sitting... I'll give you my recipe :) Re HR variability. I listened to that podcast on Mark's daily apple on the topic. It struck me that variability not only…

BG goes up during exercise for everyone, it's not a diabetes diagnose thing. It's basically a symptom of the body releasing energy for use due to increased demand (exercise). I wouldn't worry about it if you have your electrolytes in check. If you get hypo beyond that, bring an emergency fast acting sugar, like wab…

You don't need a snack for a 2 hour hike if you're in FA. If you want to have a snack, that's another story :) Fructose is bad for fat loss. Fills liver glycogen, not muscles.

Pistachios are quite carby.
