I pulled some rollers off of Craigslist a few years ago, your right about the learning curve, you pick it up pretty quick. I also still roll off the side of them now and again, you really have to pay attention to what your doing, I am still not clipping in just using regular run shoes on my road pedals (SPD). I like the…

Top of the list

I do not own that specific MTB shoe, but I have owned just about every model year of the Seek RUN shoe, and have loved them. I currently own a pair of the X-Alp and am very happy it with them. I think PI idea of a cross style shoe is nice, you get a fairly stiff sole for power transfer and yet some flexibility off the…

I cant speak for the Niner....But having owned 2 different 575s (Enduro and Pro) I wouldn't hesitate to get another...something else I myself would consider would be a Santa Cruz Blur LT. If the Niner is paid for and you like it and will still use it, keep it, if you not really in love with it, get rid of it and roll it…

SO I flaked out last weekend (11/3) but rolled out of bed in the dark and cold on Sunday 11/11 for a cross race. Cool in the morning, damp and you could see your breath but still a fun time, arrived late with the family (sure takes longer to get everyone ready and out the door), no warm up and right to the start line. Good…

To add the receiver hitch, it sounds like you will need to have it done for you, you can probably get it done at your local tire shop, maybe a muffler place, Walmart. If you go roof rack, someplace like REI can and should help install it properly as well.
-
Well depending on what type of car you got, you could look at a rear receiver hitch/rack, either 1 1/4 or 2 inch rack can usually hold 2-4 bikes and either tilt/pivot down or swing away for rear trunk/hatch access. IF your new car has a factory roof rack you can add brackets/adapters to mount your bike racks to the factory…

drool....good choice

Would really, really like a disc cross bike for 2013....as to which???
-
Fixed or free...most of the frames will have horizontal dropouts and bolt on rear axles....which will allow you to keep the same chain length by positioning the rear hub someplace else in the dropout.....some may also used and eccentric bottom bracket or rear hub to adjust the chain. quick google image

Yes, pretty sure most "flip-flop" fixed/free, mine is........although some will go "fixed/fixed" with different gearing for hills/flats..
-
I have one, Motobecane Fantom Cross, although I don't ride it often and more often free then fixed. I was really surprised to feel the differences in muscle groups being used riding fixed. Another good movie to watch...... "To live and ride in LA"

Here is a VERY nice video from the race I raced in Canby, OR a week ago...I am in the video about the one minute mark... http://vimeo.com/51980891

Alrighty, I raced Saturday 20th at 0840 it rained on and off most of Friday so the course was damp to wet, and included paved go-kart track, grass/hills, gravel double track, open fields, two barrier sections, mud and about 40 yards of sand. I raced beginner as in a field of 23 and was not DFL, started the race sick for the…

Just got a set of mountain bike(monstercross) tires, Kenda Karma ...700x50 (29x1.9) Mounted very nice, fits my Crosscheck fork nicely, fits the frame ok, had to pull the wheel as far back in the dropouts as possible....They look very large on a road/cross/commute frame. I like them.

Good looking bike.....Congrats.

I can play in this one....about 16 years, retail, non big box, several of the big name clothing companies, retail/outlet.... Pushing for the credit cards,..followed by zip codes and email addresses The person who refuses any kind of assistance as they rummage through piles And I realized just how disgusting some people can…

As Spatialized said, watch your CL, I am down in Salem, I watch the PDX area daily and there is so much stuff available there, you should be able to find something. Check with local shops to see what bike size you need in inches/centimeters or size Med/Large etc...that way you have a good idea what your looking for....also…

Well congrats to the both of you, (sounds like I am talking about a wedding or baby) on both your new bikes. I am always excited about getting new bikes or bike stuff in general.

My suggestion is just to go ride around the block and practice how they work. As the others said, the right hand shifter/brake operate the rear brake and rear derailleur...Right = Rear the left side runs the front brake and front shifter The little thumb levers should go up and down and the big levers (brakes) will squeeze…
