TFG is an acronym that my sister created forever ago, and it is an inside joke we use all the time. It stands for 'Typical Fat Girl'. Oh, you ate an entire batch of cookies? You just had a TFG moment. Then em is just because my name is Emily.

Thanks for all the great suggestions and links! I will definitely have to try some of these.

Thanks for the input! I appreciate the advice.

Hi Sherry! I'm Emily. I just got engaged too, and I am also about 1 year away from my wedding. Feel free to add me and we can motivate each other to fit into the perfect dress. :)

I am not a big supporter of the "cheat day," because if you allow yourself a cheat day, you will likely over indulge all day long. I am, however, a supporter of a "cheat meal" every now and again. I think there is a big difference.

I started MFP last month and I love it so far. Looking for pals in their twenties/thirties with 20-25 lbs. to lose too.

I ate cake three times last week. Not exactly conducive to my weight loss goals.

I can totally relate to you there. There is a big difference between wanting to be super model skinny, and wanting to be healthy and fit. And I completely agree about not starving yourself - I love eating too much for that nonsense. If we're going to have any weight loss success, it is going to be because of a lifestyle…

I think I know how you feel. I'll also be moving to a new city next month, and I have the same worries. Moving to a new place can be scary and stressful, so I am hoping I don't ruin my progress during that time. I want to keep my focus despite the new environment and all the change taking place. Feel free to add me and we…

I was not a runner either, but I highly recommend starting out with intervals. 1 minute run, 1 minute walk, 1 minute run, etc. It makes it little easier as a beginner and I've read that it is actually more effective. I started out that way and I was able to gradually build up my endurance level without getting discouraged.

Mexican food. I can eat my weight in chips and salsa if I allowed myself to.

This is heartbreaking. I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope MFP gives you the support you need to reach your goals; for yourself and for your wife. I'm sure she was very proud of your progress and your decision to live a healthier lifestyle for her.

Compression shorts. I wear them under my gym shorts, and I have a friend who wears them under all of her skirts and dresses. She says it is more comfortable and solves the chafing problem. The material is usually thin enough that it won't overheat you.

Ewan McGregor and Gerard Butler ;)

I think that there is obviously an advantage to both. From what I've been told, it is best to strike a balance. You should be mixing up your workout routine anyway, so why not do cardio a few times a week then focus on strength training on the other days? Don't forget to throw in a rest day too!

Hello! I am Emily, and I'm new to MFP. It is going well so far, and I hope to improve my overall health and reach my fitness goals here. I'm currently dealing with a lot of stress, and I'm relying heavily on MFP to help keep me on the right track. So far so good!
