"n=1" ??? I guess I'm just not smart enough to figure out how to blame anything and everything else and I can only blame myself. Woe is me

Why?

Its has nothing to do with what you are eating. It is a fact of weight loss that as you lose weight, your daily calorie deficit will get smaller. Simple math. The smaller the daily calorie deficit, the more days it takes to lose any remaining pounds. At 253 lbs, eating 1200 calories per day, your deficit was approx 750…

IMHO, 200 calories of a "tastes like" substitute just isn't as satisfying as 200 calories of the real thing.

Can't run . . . yet but walking because I can. Too many years spent finding excuses because my weight made walking exhausting and painful. Because I can, I want to. Because I want to, I do. Because I do, I can do more. Because I can do more, I want to do even more. and on and on, so far!!! :) Wonderfully "vicious" cycle…

I hope this doesn't sound crass, but you are describing the difference between reality and fantasy. Fantasy is fun and I love living there. But a dose of reality now and then is generally a good thing. :flowerforyou: Use the picture as motivation rather than depression. You are making great progress and should be…

Changed food's role in my life. I am now eating to live instead of living to eat. BIG difference!!! and when you understand it, many, many things become clear

There is seriously nothing quite like the feeling of a good wind blowing thru a full-grown beard! Nothing!!!

Yup, I always feel a bit of dread before I get there but once I'm moving, the mind goes onto high gear! I bet that's also contributing to the tears. Sooo many thoughts racing thru your head while walking is bound to touch a sensitive area. Again, hang in there! It does get easier each day. Your body is a marvelous thing…

^^^ This sounds right. I started walking at the local Mall in November. I was so proud to just make it to one end and back on my first adventure. Today, I completed a10K walk for the first time and in 103.5 minutes. I started walking because I had lost weight and walking wasn't a major struggle anymore. It felt so…

Scruffy puppies! LOL!!! :noway: ^^^ I know, right?

Lots of great tips and tricks that work well!!! Bottom line, tho, at some point before the food goes in the mouth, is to STOP and ask the "monkey in the mirror" who's the master and who's the slave. Sad but true - until you can do this, nothing else you try will work.

That works out that 38% of your calories from fat, 46% from carb, and 16% from protein. What are you shooting for?
-
Sounds like a plan. Just be sure to account for the extra calories in 2% milk. 12 oz 2% milk has 183 calories, where 12 oz of skim has 120. So to keep from gaining weight, either drink less 2% (8 oz of 2% has 122 calories) or reduce calories elsewhere in your diet. It may be mind-numbing but it really is all about the…

No specific fats. No dramatic change in the way you eat. Just resist the urge to "avoid" fats. Use 2% milk instead of skim; regular sour cream instead of fat free; low fat yogurt instead of no fat; like that. I think why people claim fat makes you fat is it is calorie dense at 9 calories per gram where protein and carbs…

If hunger is the issue, have you considered upping your fat calorie %? The RD setting up my eating plan set mine at 40% specifically to avoid hunger issues while I was learning to eat appropriate portion sizes. I've been doing it for 5 years now. Hunger has rarely been an issue and I've never been healthier. Not saying…

I used a free app from Beth Israel Hospital. It is very basic but did what I wanted it to. Unfortunately, I got very discouraged by the numbers. Ended up the stride length I entered in the settings was way off by 10". I figured that out by walking what I knew was 1 mile and divided that by the number of steps the pedometer…

Bad idear. She might burn herself

Is that "old school" math? 25% + 25% + 60% = 110% :noway: LOL! I've used 40% carb, 20% protein, 40% fat for the last 5 years and have lost 180lbs and counting. When I began, I was told by my RD that she wanted me to have a higher fat eating plan to moderate hunger while I was learning to eat smaller, more appropriate…

I doubt many looking past the beautiful foreground to notice there is a background. I might be a little more concerned with flip-flops in a plunger "armed" washroom tho. LOL! Your smile is priceless! :flowerforyou: You have every reason to be proud and confident! Congrats!!! :drinker:

Pooooh! 100lb max :grumble: Hah, just gotta get creative I guess. 89 x 2 = 542 baseballs! This is fun afterall!!! :drinker:

Fuzzy wuzzy for me, please! B)

And what would a scientific calorie analysis reveal? Methinks this warrants awareness much more than obsession but to each, it's own :ohwell:
-
The RD that saved my life emphasized fat intake to avoid hunger and wanted 40% of my calories to come from fat. Controlling calories is a lot easier without having to deal with hunger. Dealing with the supposed risks of high fat diet was far less concerning than the risk of giving in to constant hunger, too. Worked well…

My son did about 3 months of strengthening prior to left knee ACL replacement surgery. Surgeon said the stronger you are before surgery, the easier and more effective therapy will be after. The first thing the PT did was make sure spine, hips, knees, ankles were all in alignment. Everything had shifted to compensate for…
