Hey folks... Trying to catch up here... Busy, busy weekend, but the weather was positively glorious. Hope it was for you where you were this weekend. On to the replies... rowerc2... You're making awesome progress brother. Gotta love losing those inches. Keep plugging away at it my friend! Tracy... I hear you about the…

P90X DAY FORTY - Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X Just when you think (more like pray) that your leg strength has caught up with this workout enough to not make it quite so uncomfortable, you do it and realize that's never gonna happen. Of course, I mean that in the best, most positive way possible. I had two nemeses in the…

P90X DAY THIRTY-NINE - Yoga X This was actually more relaxing than it's been in times past. Not that it wasn't hard work, but the week had been stressful enough that Yoga X looked good by comparison... lol. I think my nemesis today was not a particular move as it was a series of moves - the Yoga Belly 7. For those of you…
-
P90X DAY THIRTY-EIGHT - Back & Biceps, Ab Ripper X As tough as this workout is, one thing I can say is that I am REALLY noticing the gains in upper arm strength that I've been getting over the course of this program so far. I had to increase my weight in seven of the resistance moves from 30- to 40-lb bands. Only one more…

Tracy... You're absolutely right; you don't have to like it. There are days when I don't, for sure. I just try to stay focused on the benefits, among those for you being that it'll help you become a more well-rounded martial artist. CS is a toughie workout, no doubts. Superman! Banana! Superman! Banana!

Tracy... Now, you of all people should appreciate the value of the Yoga routine. You're increasing your flexibility, your muscular endurance, your balance, and your sustained concentration... All ingredients for making a superior martial artist. Try to view the workout through the lens of how it can help your TKD…

April... I think you're suggestion was a good one. I put my hand out in the wide-hand pushup position, dropped my weight over to that shoulder, and twisted a little at the waist, and I got it done. Many thanks! Way to go running three miles AND tackling Plyo... Very impressive. You're really improving, which is awesome.…

P90X DAY THIRTY-SEVEN - Plyometrics (The MUTHA) I'm not sure what the deal was today, but Plyo had me sweating buckets for some reason, like more than any other time I've done it. In any event, the workout went well and is still a killer, no doubt. However, I was able to ramp up the intensity in a few nemesis moves today.…

P90X DAY THIRTY-SIX - Chest, Shoulders & Triceps, Ab Ripper X Man, this workout is a killer. It blasts everything from your hands, across your chest, and back to the other hand. My forearms were sore for hours after finishing this today. I did manage to have a bit of a disappointment - I could not execute the One-Arm…
-
P90X DAY THIRTY-FOUR - Kenpo X The workout went very well today; I felt strong and pushed hard through the entire routine. In some of the moves, I'm able to ramp up the intensity and surpass the folks on the screen in terms of the number of reps completed of some of the moves, so that's very encouraging. I would hesitate…

That's what I'M talkin' about.... You're a MONSTER brother..!! Keep up that intensity..!!!

April... When I do L&B, I hurt from my backside down to the middle part of my legs for at least a good 24-36 hours. That leg workout pounds me! Way to go on the ice-cream denial. It's the small victories like that which add up to big success over time.
-
ghanie... You're quite welcome, and I'm pleased you've decided to take the plunge. Congrats on gritting it through Week 1..!! The HRM makes a BIG difference and really lets' you know how hard you're working because you can't always go by how you feel; that's too subjective. Remember a big part of attaining success in this…

P90X DAY THIRTY-THREE - Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X I swear, this workout completely blasts my legs every single time I go through it. I also noticed that my forearms are starting to get really tight during the second round of pull-up exercises. I'm gonna say that's a good thing, perhaps that my upper arms and back are…

P90X DAY THIRTY-TWO - Yoga X Someone I was talking to at work about P90X was asking me how the program was going. "Tough, every day, it's tough," I said. She eyed me questioningly and asked, "Why on earth would you keep doing that if it's still tough after a month?" Why indeed, I thought. "Because if it gets easy, then…

Ok, I'm up WAY past my bedtime, so I'll try to keep this short (like that's possible)... April... I don't know about you, but knocking the workouts out first thing in the am sets the stage for the rest of the day for me (in a good way). Nothing like losing weight when you're not even trying, eh..? Yay for you..!! As for…

P90X DAY THIRTY-ONE - Back & Biceps, Ab Ripper X I have to say I honestly did not know there were so many different ways to work the biceps area. What I do know, after a good 52-minute-long pounding, is that my biceps have a serious burn lit in them. Just about everywhere else I was able to do bicep exercises with my 40-lb…

Hey folks. Man, have I been slackin'..! Lots of posts to answer, so let's get busy... rowerc2... Brother, CS is definitely one of the toughest P90X workouts in ANY phase I'm thinking... lol. Still though, for me, Plyo is still the unmerciful beast. It pounded on me today, that's for sure. Looks like your results are coming…

P90X DAY THIRTY - Plyometrics (The Mutha) Calories burned: 1,004 If there is one of these P90X workouts that consistently makes me have to reach down deep to get through it, Plyo is the one. There is so much going on - squats, jumping, turning, leaping, running, and only a smattering of 30-second breaks. The thing I'm…

P90X DAY TWENTY-NINE - Chest, Shoulders & Triceps, Ab Ripper X Leave it to Tony Horton to come out of the corner for Phase II swinging. The only thing I could say to Crystal after this one was... Ow! This workout is a SERIOUS upper body blaster that absolutely tore me up. Of course, I knew from Power90 that my shoulders…

P90X DAY TWENTY-SEVEN - Yoga X Now I have to say, I am jealous of you single folk out there. My three girls are out of town until tomorrow, and as much as I miss them dearly, there are times when a quiet, empty house works to one's advantage. Doing Yoga X today was definitely one of those times. Concentrating on your body…

P90X DAY TWENTY-SIX - Core Synergistics I think I can definitely see why my good neighbor Kevin says that he thought Plyometrics was tough... until he met Core Synergistics. Made it through the second trip through CS, and it was still a killer. I have found my two nemeses here as well - Superman Banana and Lunge Kickback…

LMAO..!! All that soapbox speech I wrote, and you didn't even need to hear it! Well, at least you know my views, and like you, I really enjoy the yoga. It's one of the top 2 P90X workouts that's the most challenging for me. I have to say though... I'm loving what it's doing for my body. The improvements in flexibility are…

ghanie... I've been involved in martial arts for about a good 10+ years now. I've only had to use it in defense once; other than that, it's always been and continues to be an excellent path for personal growth and learning. While it's up to you to swap Kenpo or TaeBo for the Yoga, I would personally recommend against it.…

The Kenpo X workout is most definitely cardio in nature. It has that title because the moves during the workout have their origin in Kenpo karate, so you'll be doing lots of punching, kicking, stepping back and forth. It really works up a good sweat (Plyometrics is much more of a beast I think). Core Synergistics focuses…
-
ghanie... Wonderful! I started a P90X thread on here, and the first post has my fit test results listed there if you're interested. I'll look forward to seeing how you did. Go get 'em.!
-
Crimefighter... I wouldn't expect to see any problems if you're getting in extra cardio in the form of running with this program. In fact, the running is still going to be the activity that puts the most mechanical stress on your body's joints. I think the key here is to pay close attention to your body, making sure you're…
-
ghanie... The only individual workout that's longer than 60 minutes is Yoga X which lasts 90 minutes. On the strength days, you'll usually have the strength workout of 60 or so minutes and Ab Ripper X right afterward which is 16 minutes. My first answer is by the numbers, which is to say P90X has a "fit test" that you can…

TJ is a serious workout, for sure... I haven't done the whole program (I'm on P90X currently), but I've done a few of the TJ workouts, and Chalean will have you moving, no doubts. Hope you enjoy it Meggie...

Hey hey good people! Lots going on, so let's get to it... Tracy... WAY TO GO..!!!!!! Excellent work on your new rank; that's the way to get it done! Great to see you back. I don't know what it is about this week, but it seems like everyone has been crazy at work here lately... Sheesh.! rowerc2... Ten pounds evaporated in…
