  • I love popcorn, but it is a diet killer for me. Corn products in general, but popcorn specifically, makes me feel very hungry... almost immediately after eating. This is one of those foods that I have had to eliminate from my diet. :brokenheart: But like someone who eliminates peanuts/diary/gluten because of a food…
  • I agree with the comments that your food intake is very artificial with very little 'real' food. I'm not on any special paleo diet or whatever, but I eat lots of veggies, seeds and grains - basically everything. Also, you don't have a lot of weight to lose and I know I ate lots more than you and I had no problem losing…
  • I take a walk each day I am at work ( I work part-time) and get up and stretch, but I sometimes would like to do the same as you. Unfortunately, I have limited stairs in my building and they are all in the garage/basement with stale air and NOT fun. Also, it is impossible to walk around the building because of the…
  • Reading what you ate in the one day you listed, I would say you aren't getting enough NUTRITION or enough calories to fuel the fat burning process.
  • ^^^This is what I have done in the past. Eat some nutrition dense calories (no more empty ones today) and start again tomorrow.
  • Yes, I changed WHAT I ate. I don't see foods as 'BAD', but depending on your organ health, body chemistry, etc. some foods HELP you lose weight and some foods SLOW weight loss. For each individual they are not exactly the same. If you have an allergy to nuts or diary or gluten, or MSG, or soy (you get the idea), eating…
  • Would never make it through even one DVD!
  • I think that myth started because many people, after a long, tiring day allow themselves to make poor food choices at the end of the day and eat past their calorie limit. If this is you, make sure you are eating nutritious calories throughout the day so you are NOT overly hungry at night....AND get plenty of sleep.
  • I read the article and didn't find any information that is not available on MFP. MFP lowers your calorie limit as you lose weight. When I started out I was losing weight at a base rate that is much higher than my base rate now that I am in maintenance. People on MFP plateau all the time and this article is not their answer…
  • You appear so much younger -- and happier. Seems to happen to a lot of people.
  • I did this and I don't regret it. The fact that I bought some really cute clothes that are now too big for me doesn't bother me because it made me feel great, took any stress away from the pressure that I HAD to continue losing and I got so many compliments and positive feedback that it really helped getting those final…
  • I think it is simplistic to say any FOOD is BAD. We are all individuals when it comes to the nutrition we need. Due to many factors, not every body needs the same set of micro nutrients. For example, if someone is allergic to peanuts or gluten, then that food is bad for them, but for others, they are healthy additions to a…
  • I have an allergy to sodium that is really intense so I have had to keep mine low since I was in high school. A couple of easy tips is to buy all your canned and packaged goods that have NO SALT added. This is really easy to do if you just read the label. Peanut butter, soup, beans, cereal, tomatoes, broth, frozen items…
  • I have to weigh/measure and log what I eat or my body tells me I haven't eaten in days. I show my body the proof in black and white, my body then agrees and tells me I am not that hungry after all... Also, I have to remember to eat 5 to 6 times a day IN SMALL PORTIONS with every snack or meal containing a good fat, good…
  • In order of importance: ==>MFP!!! I have to weigh/measure and log what I eat or my body tells me I haven't eaten in days. I show my body the proof in black and white, my body then agrees and tells me I am not that hungry after all... ==>SMALL calorie deficit and the fact that I can eat exercise calories ==>Eating 5 to 6…
  • I am also 5ft 4in and I have recently reached the upper range of a healthy BMI. I am totally PLEASED with the way I look. I was even super happy 10 pounds ago but was determined to get to "officially" not overweight. I might work on another 5 pounds or so, mostly to keep me motivated to continue to watch what I eat and not…
  • I know everyone is different, but all I can say is I'm 58 and I lost over 60 pounds by eating around 1600 calories per day plus exercise calories.
  • I'll have to steal a few of these.
  • I think it depends on what your calorie deficit has been. Mine was only to lose 1/2 lb a week (250 cals) and so maintenance for me is almost the same. If you have been eating 500, 750, or less than what MFP says is maintenance, I would go up slowly in 250 increments and see how your body responds.
  • I don't mind the vagueness of the categories because people burn calories at different rates and regardless of how detailed it might be described, we each have to experiment where to place ourselves on the calorie scale. I was too hungry when I placed myself at the sedentary rate even though I have a desk job. Once I…
  • I can't stand being hungry, especially at night. I always save 100-200 calories to consume before bedtime. What has worked best for me is warmed up unsweetened soy milk with a little molasses. (protein + essential minerals and carbs). I don't know what is "BEST", but I know I can't lose weight if I go to bed hungry because…
  • I'd be pissed if a family member picked the Holiday season to tell me I'm fat!
  • Only one other poster addressed this issue. I, too, gained weight because of illness and (lack of) medication. Once my medical problem was diagnosed and I received treatment, weight loss not only became possible, but "almost easy" in retrospect. Therefore, it appears that solving your health issue with perhaps a change in…
  • I like Quinoa flakes!
  • It wasn't so long ago I passed that milestone, too! I never felt so wonderful! Since then, I have kept to my plan and have just ONE more pound to put me in the healthy weight category. I will be so excited on that day. You'll get there too, I don't doubt. Focus on the process and it will be here before you know it.
  • Yes, ME, me, me, too. I ***almost*** can't enjoy my food as much unless I slather on the various condiments. In order to combat the extra calories and additives that I try to avoid, I have begun my making my own and even carry them to restaurants to use.
  • Me too! Think more about ADDING nutrition to your everyday eating rather than eliminating food groups. Plan every meal, stick to the plan, re-evaluate, repeat.
  • I have a girlfriend who is, I believe, way less fit than you and for a charitable event decided to tackle a similar task. She suffered mightly afterward, but what got her through (she says), was her mental determination. I'm thinking you have that, too.
  • Now you know why there are so many people (myself included) who say no to aspartame in any product. I don't miss it at all.
